Great place. Best location on the island (5 min walk to snorkel), away from crowds in Cruz Bay, but not too far. 2 adults and 3 teens (each happy to have their own bedroom). House wonderfully equipped for cooking (we did most nights) - though be prepared for heart stopping prices at the grocery (starfish market). Everything you need: beach chairs, coolers, beach towels, hermit crabs, new barbeque with full tank, chirping frogs, (Coquí !) telescope (note spotter scope missing a lens, and the mirror needs to be cleaned). Pool great, and hot tub perfect.
Nits:
The a/C units are pretty load (wall/hotel type), but I'm just not used to them.
Construction is on-going at a house up the road (about 5 houses away). A bit noisy at times, but not a show stopper.

Morningside is a great vacation home. We really like being so close to Klein Bay, and the beautiful views. Morningside's layout is ideal, and the great room catches the breeze from every direction. In a word, loved it!

We were for the most part, very pleased with our villa. One of the best features was the outside showers in each bedroom. The kitchen was very attractive...granite countertops, nice cabinets and new appliances and very well stocked with dishes, plates, pots and pans. Living room and dining room had been updated but the bedrooms could use some refurbishing. The location was convenient to Cruz Bay. The deck and swimming pool were the best feature and we spent lots of time there.

Great property. Great views. House was stocked with everything we needed to do some great cooking and entertaining. Location was good. Close to town but not too close. Everything was clean and welcoming. Driveway a bit tight to maneuver two cars but we managed. Would definitely come back.

This is our second time at Morningside Villa and it makes a great family reunion/Christmas gathering since our family is now all over the us. It is conveniently located, just minutes to the Westin and Cruz Bay area. There is even a new grocery closer than the Starfish! The view is stunning, the grandkids loved the pool and hot tub and it was a pleasure to cook in such a beautiful kitchen. We took advantage of great snorkeling at Rendevous Bay which is only a short walk away and kayaking at Coral Bay. We always rent a car and snorkeled on Maho, Honeymoon, Salt Pond and this time we took a dinghy to snorkel Whispering Cay...just a great time! Catered To was awesome in that the house was stocked with a snack, beach chairs, towels and the lady who met us was extremely nice. We did eat out at aqua Blue, Rhumb Lines and The Lime Inn and they were all delicious! We always go to The Lime Inn and were fortunate to meet Rich, the owner---great guy! We will be back to Morningside again!

As a surprise to my husband I booked us a last minute getaway to St John. (I would highly recommend going off season as we did, since the airfares and rental rates are significantly reduced)
Wanting a change from the typical "Island Resort Experience" I decided to go with a villa rental. The entire process with Villas Caribe (St John Villas.com) was pretty much flawless. (just make sure that the website is updated as far as availability goes and that owners accept less than a 7 night rental if applicable) From the initial villa selection process (as far as deciding which villa would suit us best in terms of size, location, view, amenities, decor and price ) to the actual booking , taxi transfer arrangements from St Thomas airport, jeep rental and concierge services I always felt assured that the details were taken care of by the Villas Caribe staff. We had some flight delays but there was still someone at the ferry dock waiting for us upon arrival to the Island to escort us to our villa. (Thanks Jason!)
Although I had seen all the photos of the villa on line ~ the surprise turned out to be mine when I experienced the breathtaking views from the villa for the first time! The place was spectacular! Perfectly perched on the hillside, there really are no words to describe the beauty of that view from the patio. We spent a lot of our time right there at the house swimming, relaxing, cooking in the brand new beautiful kitchen, enjoying the indoor/outdoor living space and looking at the stars by the thousands out on our patio.
I had heard about the mosquitos and bugs so I was prepared with plenty of sprays and lotions, but we really didn't have a problem since the breezes seemed to keep them away. We did enjoy the orchestra at night with the blend of sounds from nature.
The location was great since we could easily drive to the markets, the best beaches on the island or in to town for shopping or restaurants, yet private enough that we felt like the entire island was only for us when we were at the villa.
The staff on the island was very attentive as there was a tropical storm headed our way during our visit. They called to check on us several times, gave us helpful hints in case we lost power (we didn't) and came to the house to secure the outdoor furniture, etc..
We not only survived the storm, but we actually kind of enjoyed it!
All in all, I would highly recommend Morningside Villa. My husband and I travel all over the world and have stayed anywhere from modest rooms in a Convent in Switzerland to luxury rooms on the Grand Canal in Venice. We are not the type to look for the most expensive (or least expensive) place to stay, but instead would rather find the accommodations to fit the experience, mood and area where we travel. My personal opinion is that a villa is the way to go while in St John. Treat yourself and enjoy paradise! -

Morningside Villa, and CateredTo, proved to be a most incredible combination of value, joy and fun for our group of six adults and one toddler. The house, and its location was simply amazing. CateredTo was professional and responsive to our needs, and St. John was the ideal island. All of us agreed that we would not hesitate to vacation right here again!

We traveled to Morningside Villa for the second time in three years with our three grown children, their husbands/wifes and now our two-year-old granddaughter. We love St. John and Morningside Villa is a perfect place to come "home" to after a great day at the beach. The floor plan of the villa affords privacy for each couple and at the same time a wonderful environment inside and out for us all to gather to enjoy the pool, hot tub and spectacular view. Can't wait to return!

We were informed that the house we originally rented had lost power one hour before our arrival. Catered To Vacation Property Management immediately put us up in a comparable villa. We had the option to move, but we decided to stay at Morningside Villa. The view was great. It was not quite as good as the view we had from a previous house on the north side of the island, but it was great nonetheless. We had a few issues with appliances and the pool, and Ctpm responded very quickly. The pool would be a little scary with little kids as the infinity side is about 8 feet above ground. The rooms were wonderful. We had enough room for 4 adults and 5 tweens/teens. A car is necessary to get to beaches.

We had a great week at Morningside Villa. It fit the needs of my family, 4
adults very well. It was private with a great view. The beach was rocky and I
would not recommend it for children but provided great snorkeling for the
adults. The villa had a great kitchen and was very user friendly. We were met
by staff and very efficiently taken to rent a car and then to villa. There were no
mosquito coils in the house which seemed to surprise our greeter and there
were none to be found at the store. We did have a good supply of bug spray
but the mosquitoes were fierce at the beginning to say the least. We had a
nice greeting snack from the owners of Morningside villa which was nice. I
liked the location, especially for adults but not sure that I would want younger
children down below on the first floor since we were encouraged to shut the
metal shutters. I loved the openness of the villa. The only real negative that I
has was that no one came to change the linens during the week as we stayed 7
days. Since we are pretty easy going, we didn't even feel it warranted a call to
Catered To. All in all, I can't wait until next year!Response from Catered To Vacation Property Management - 05/19/2010

Thank you for the great review! We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Morningside villa. We apologize for the missed mid-week housekeeping service. The housekeeper had unfortunately suffered a personal loss during that week and missed some of her duties prior to our discovering what had happened. We hope to have the opportunity to make it up to you in the future.

Left on 07/17/2009 for a stay in August 2007
Family and friends consisted of 6 adults - all 55+. These accommodations were perfect for us - 4 lovely and roomy bedrooms each with own bath. The kitchen included all the cooking equipment we needed, nice dishes and glassware, gas BBQ grill and plenty of room for all of us to get involved with meal preparations. The refrigerator did not keep up with our needs, but we managed with purchases of ice for our drinks. The view across the patio and pool was gorgeous. Unfortunately the hot tub never got hot, but we enjoyed being in a location that allowed us to walk down the hill to a large pebble beach for snorkeling and swimming. We would definitely consider returning in the future.

We stayed at Morningside with our two children (6 and 9 at that time). We really appreciated the interior doors for the main floor bedrooms - it feels more secure when you have small children.
The pool and hot tub were nice for quick dips and the view from the house was beautiful. The kitchen setup works very well and my children really enjoyed eating at the outside bar (windows in the kitchen open to the bar). Furniture is a bit dated but in good condition.
The house was well-landscaped - you could barely see the other houses. The neighborhood is quiet. One negative - lots of birds nesting in the eaves of the house and dropping berries, etc. They were also a bit chatty.
The Klein Bay location is wonderful - we chose the house based on where it was. Be warned that it is a fairly long drive from the North shore beaches and Cruz Bay. The benefit, of course, is the quiet and the views.
We have rented a number of times from Catered To and I highly recommend this agency. They are accessible, responsive and easy to deal with. They do what they say they are going to do, when they say they will do it and they consistently exceed our expectations.
