FairfieldSuch beautiful views
Left on 08/15/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Villa Maria is situated in such a beautiful spot. Gorgeous views. Very comfortable accommodations and all our needs met. Helpful management staff and a good check in experience. Bedroom configurations suited us perfectly with our group. Three very large bedrooms all en-suite worked really well. Great varied deck areas with spectacular views. Also very well situated to town and grocery stores and the lovely beaches of St John. Would go back without a doubt.

Naperville, IllinoisExcellent Choice Villa in St John
Left on 06/16/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I decided to write a review on Villa Maria in St John due to the fact that I wasn't able to find a recent review prior to my own booking of the property. I like to read up on properties to decide which unit to book. We stayed at Villa Maria for 7 days in June 2012 with my girls ages 11 and 13, my parents age 70, and husband and myself. Rented the property thru Catered To Realty. All the reviews I read on Catered to were positive so I decided to give them a try.
Catered To was an excellent choice! The staff answered my many many questions prior to deciding on which property to book. They quickly answered questions via email about the ferry, rental cars and everything else. During our stay our toaster oven failed and it was promptly replaced that day! Communication was excellent before and during the vacation. We had a schedule of who and when certain services would happen (cleaning, water delivery, gardener etc.) during our stay. Catered To met us at the car ferry to lead us and give us a tour of the villa as soon as we arrived and was a great source of local info. The owner had a stash of goodies for us upon arrival (soda, beer, chips etc.) Very nice!
The villa photos on the website do not show the beauty of the view and property. The photos make it look a little worn for some reason. I found everything to feel clean and neat. The TV has been replaced in the family room to a flat screen, compared to photo on current website. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need for gourmet meals. Two nice Weber grills (with an extra full tank of gas) were available for our use (one on pool level, one on kitchen level). The kitchen has plenty of dishes, glasses, pots, pans, coffee maker etc. The pool has lovely levels, with a nice shallow step for sunning. Floats, beach towels, coolers and beach chairs were available and we used them everyday. The linens and towels were all good quality - Company Store, Land's End etc. The wifi worked the entire time with no issues.
Everything was in proper working order and well maintained. Our family enjoyed having the mom and dad's bedroom connected internally to the children's rooms. I wasn't open to having my girls stay in a separate bedroom pod as many of the properties utilize in St John. The air conditioning units in these bedrooms worked fine. The only "ding" I would give this property is that the aC in the pod bedroom above the pool was not large enough to cool this bedroom when it was running full speed. This seems to be a complaint of numerous previous renters. Another note is that the main living areas are not air conditioned. If you want aC thru out and heat bothers you, this is something to consider. We spent the days in the water and were fine..just a little warm while cooking dinner.
The location to the Starfish grocery market was convenient. The villa is located on the same bay as the Westin in an area of very nice homes. It is a quiet area with some new construction and existing homes. We did not have any noise issues as mentioned in some other reviews. Everyone enjoyed watching the boat activities, sea turtles and sunsets from our decks.
Villa Maria has a few stairs to access the home from the carport and the pool and pod bedroom. My parents are in great shape and handled the steps fine at 70 years old. The carport access is easy drive into, compared to some other properties in the Usvi.
Overall, we really enjoyed renting Villa Maria and would highly recommend this property to all our friends. It appears that the owners and property mgmt are dedicated to ensuring that renters have all the necessities to have a great vacation! -

RaleighA wonderful retreat with beautiful views and awesome pool!
Left on 01/11/2012 for a stay in July 2011
Our family stayed at Villa Maria in July of 2011. We had an 11 day vacation in St John so got to know this villa very well. I will say it is a great villa with lots of island feel to it. The decks are amazing, as are the views. The sunsets over St Thomas were a highlight. The pool is perfect, and big enough for a group. Our teenagers absolutely loved it.
The aC did not work well in the pool master bedroom, and needs to be replaced or adjusted, but the aC worked really good (almost freezing cold) in the other 2 bedrooms that are downstairs in the main house. Very important for a July vacation on St John.
Catered To was a great, great company to rent from; we had a couple small issues (even one on the 4th of July) and they responded and took care of it, even on the 4th (which is Carnival and a busy, busy day on St John.
The kitchen is fine, not gourmet, but adequate, and the grounds are lovely. We were visited by a bananaquit that obviously lives close by every day, and several Iquana's hung out in the trees by the pool.
Parking and driveway is easy at this house. No major hills to climb (of course you must get up Jacobs ladder), but after that it is easy, easy.
I felt very safe in this neighborhood. There is a great little grocery close by - St John Market, I think is it's name, and easy trip into Cruz Bay and No Shore Beaches.
I would recommend this villa for a family of 4 or several couples who want to have some privacy and space. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom, and they are fine. We had a cleaning lady 2 or 3 times in 11 days. Catered To left nice snacks and beer in the fridge for when we arrived.
This is not a good villa for families with young children or those with disabilities, due to different levels of the villa and stairs. Plus it is right on the edge of the hills which might be a hazard for young kids. -

KnoxvilleAn incredible vista
Left on 12/13/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Without a doubt, Villa Maria has the most incredible view of any villa we have rented on St. John. From the deck overlooking Great Cruz Bay, you can see St. Croix (on a clear day) to the south, St. Thomas to the west and the beach (at the Westin) at the end of Great Cruz Bay. This means that this time of the year, you can see sunsets over the sea and sunrises over the island. The villa is well accommodated and the pool and view make it difficult to leave to explore the island. It also has two master bedrooms for luxury bedrooms for two couples, and one is separated from the main building, allowing for more privacy. My wife and I now consider Villa Maria our vacation "home" and come back as often as we can.

As in the past, our experience was both relaxing and wonderful! The house was awesome, the beaches were beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the rum was delicious and never ending! We can't wait to be back again in paradise for another great vacation experience! Catered To is the only rental agency on the island that I would recommend...they're fantastic!

Left on 04/26/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Our first impression (and a lasting one) were the amazing views of Great Cruz Bay and St. Thomas which provided for gorgeous sunsets. The home was very clean, tastefully and simply decorated, had well shaded decks and a lovely pool, and was stocked with all the basics that we needed. We cooked every night in the well equipped kitchen and used the two gas grills. We liked the convenient location of the house; it was close to town and the grocery store and not a far drive to the National Park beaches. We'd love to stay at Villa Maria again!

Villa Maria is a wonderful home on Great Cruz Bay, St. John.
The view is spectacular with awesome winter sunsets, and views into Great Cruz Bay with numerous yachts and other boats.
The detached master bedroom was really nice for those traveling with kids.
The kitchen could use a pass with a knife sharpener!
There is some home construction going on right below Villa Maria which was a noise concern for us during our stay. One should check with the rental agent for specific info on the construction if they know of any.
This was our first stay in St. John. One thing we would not do again is rent a car/suv . This cost us us$900 for 9 days. Cabs were plentiful in all locations on the island at all times we traveled. We figured we would have spent about $250 in cab fare for all of our trips from home.
Another surprise was the suggestion from the rental agent that the available grocery stores were lacking and that we should hire a provisioning company to supply us with food rather than us travelling to St. Thomas for food.
There is no need whatsoever to travel to St. Thomas for grocery items. There were several grocery stores in the Cruz Bay area that were more than adequate. U.S. prices? No, but what do you expect? -

Villa Maria suits our family to a "T."
Lots of open spaces and seating areas.
Fantastic views.
Construction project in the neighborhood is not good, and we will inquire about it before reserving this villa again. Very noisy.
That aside, it's our preferred spot! -

Left on 07/14/2010 for a stay in June 2010
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Villa Maria. This was our thirteenth stay on St John and our first time at this villa. Villa Maria was very clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything that one could possibly need. The location to the center of town and Starfish Market was great. We loved being able to jump in the pool after a day at the beach. It was wonderful having the airconditioning too. The size of this villa afforded all six of us the privacy that we needed, whenever we felt the need to get away on our own. And while it was large, it was not stuffy or fancy. We felt at home.

Villa Maria is comfortable and perfect for our family's needs. We go out for
dinner almost every night, so I can't comment on how well the kitchen is
outfitted for cooking. Based on previous guest book entries, however, I think
it's a fine place for dining in.
Location about Great Cruz Bay is great for the view of boats, which we love.
We would definitely go back. -

Left on 07/30/2009 for a stay in June 2009
This was our second trip to St. John and our first stay at Villa Maria. We absolutely loved the panoramic views, the fabulous pool and the outdoor living spaces. We also loved the great, easy to get to location and the convenient parking. Catered to took care of everything and we had no complaints. The only slight negative to the property was the doors and locks could use updating. They were difficult to lock and when locked did not feel secure. Also, there is some intense afternoon sun and heat, but the cool air conditioned bedrooms were a nice relief. I was very happy with our choice and the pluses far outweighed any minuses. I would gladly stay there again. Thanks Catered to.

This was our fifth trip to St. John and we love it everytime we visit. We have rented from Catered To before but this is our first (any hopefully not the last) stay at the Villa Maria. It was a great place to stay and we would stay there again in a minute. The layout of the home is perfect for vacationing and the view was perfect.
Thank you for letting us rent this fantastic house. -

We had three couples stay at Villa Maria and it was a perfect set up for six. We liked being close to town but not in the center of everything. The home has beautiful outdoor decks for watching sunsets. We enjoyed having the pool house/bar for serving drinks as we swam. We would return.

We have been traveling to St John for 8 years now and this was our best week yet. The locatiion of Villa Maria cannot be beat. It is close to town. not up the hills (which is nice at night. THE VIEW IS AMAZING!!
The villa is slightly dated but very well kept. The pool deck is in the sun all day unlike many villas.
