Additional Location Information
St Kilda, with a population of 16,122, is located 6km south from Melbourne's CBD. St Kilda was named after a ship, the ‘Lady of St Kilda’, which moored at the main beach for much of 1841. During the Edwardian and Victorian eras, St Kilda became a favoured suburb of Melbourne's elite, and many palatial mansions were constructed along its hills and waterfront. Post WWII, St Kilda became Melbourne's red-light district. In recent years, St Kilda has experienced gentrification. Now St Kilda is one of Melbourne’s premier and most expensive suburbs. St Kilda is home to many of Melbourne's famous visitor attractions including Luna Park, the Esplanade Hotel, Acland Street and Fitzroy Street. It is home to St Kilda Beach, Melbourne's most famous beach, several renowned theatres and several of Melbourne's big events and festivals.

Brisbane, AustraliaComfortable apartment in trendy st kilda
Left on 04/05/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Our 2 bedroom apartment was newly refurbished, comfortable and clean with all the mod cons you need on a holiday. A fully fitted out kitchen with the added touch of an espresso machine with plenty of coffee pods .. Definitely a bonus for coffee addicts!
Our only gripe was that the air conditioner did not work and we struck a few hot days. The apartment heated up and was a bit hot at night but the outside air was lovely - fans would also have helped. Would be fantastic in the colder months.
Excellent position right in the heart of st kilda within an easy walk to the shops and cafe precinct. This place is alive and buzzing. Even on a Sunday night , and fun to visit.
Hint:
1. if you can afford it pay the extra $7 a day for the WI Fi. .. Definitely worth the money and links up to 5 devices at one time so all the family can use their iPhones etc
2. it is impossible to park on the street so you will need to drop off one of your party to get the keys from the letter box then up to the apartment to get your remote for the under ground car park. Just drive around and get your bearings - it should not take more than 5-10 mins to get back with the keys.Response from Espresso Apartments - 04/21/2013

We are glad that you had an enjoyable stay with us and we encourage you in future to tell us if your air conditioner is not working as we can get this attended to promptly.

AucklandGreat place to stay
Left on 02/03/2013 for a stay in January 2012
This was our second time staying at your apartments. Everything was clean and tidy - until daughter number 2 arrived from Europe!
Early check in was requested and there was no problem with that or accessing the apartment. The bathrooms are great and the beds comfy. I appreciated the little touches, tissues, tea bags sugar etc, particularly the Nespresso machine which got a good work out.
I am happy to recommend Espresso apartments to potential guests, we love the busy social vibe of St Kilda and the ease of transport into the city centre.
All up a great visit and we will happily stay again.

SydneyGreat apartment poor communication
Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The apartment was great, comfortable and very centrally located for the St Kilda area. However, the communication with the service desk at Espresso was, I'm afraid to say, quite poor. The phone was often unanswered and, after messages were left, we didn't get a response. They got the bedding wrong to start with and then corrected this. The staff who attended the site were very helpful. Called to pay remainder of balance and get instructions on the apartment and was not told nearly enough about the apartment (entry into garage, what was the best procedure etc.). They wanted to send an email only but agreed to give instructions over the phone after insistence.

PerthMy Melbourne Stay
Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
I had a great time in Melbourne, my apartment was really nice and very close to the popular ackland St which is full of cafe's, pubs, restaurants, shopping and the cake shops.
Luna Park was at one end on the beach front which was well enjoyed by my sons and the walk along the beach to the Pier was nice, the pier aslo had a nice cafe at the end for lunch.
The St Kilda markets along the Esplanade on the Sunday morning were great, there were so many wonderful things I could of bought.
St Kilda is only a 15minute tram ride to the city, you can get off at Southbank near the Crown Casino, another great place to visit.
if you travel down south on the tram you can get to Brighton Beach which has some really nice bright coloured bathing boxes to check out.
To sum it up, the apartment was in a great location, was nice and clean with everything you need, alos the costs were very reasonable. -

Left on 03/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The service from the Espresso apartments team was 1st class, they followed through with my requests as required. The apartment had everything we needed for the 5 days we stayed there. We were 3 seniors who needed to be close to transport and shops. We were able to park the car in the garage and venture out daily on the tram which was only approx. 200 meters away. A problem for us seniors was the lounge, there was no way we could sit on it comfortably to watch TV, one of us had to lay on the floor while the other 2 had to lay on the lounge. I did leave a note for the cleaner to say that one of the remote controls did not have any batteries and the remote control for the paid TV had flat batteries. From memory one of the lamps had a blown bulb. My 2 stars for comfort was purely based on the lounge situation only. Ease of check-in was average because of the keys being in the letter box on one side of the building on one street (no parking) and the off street parking for the building was was around the corner in another street. I suggest tenants may wish to check out google maps which was most helpful to me before arriving.

295424Great alternative to St Kilda Hotels
Left on 01/06/2012 for a stay in September 2011
I am starting to be a big fan of serviced apartments. When done right they are a great alternative to staying in hotels. Cheaper, better quality of life, and feels like home away from home.
I have only stayed at an Espresso property once, however the experience was mostly great. The apartment was clean, modern, well appointed, and great value. Espresso have a number of properties in St Kilda, I stayed at 35/220 Barkly st St Kilda. The apartment was everything they said it would be, including a good sized master bedroom.
The only downside was that this particular apartment was close to the cafes on Barkly St. So on weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun nights) there was quite a bit of noise until late at night. That being said, we wanted to be close to the St Kilda action. However next time we will chose a different Espresso property, one that is a little further away from the noise. -

Great location and facilities. Convenient to transport etc. Hassles with parking as information and swipe card not available, hence some parking fines! but pleased that management will take care of that. A few oversights: cigareete ash in bedroom lamp, no globe in bedroom 2 lamp, 1 blown globe over kitcehn area, then the other blew! Please to get 10% discount as it is not cheap.

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in April 2011
Very disappointing. Wanted to stay here as there was a foxtel connection and we wanted to watch a football game. The connection didn't work. We called espresso head office and were told that it would be fixed asap. Nothing happened. We were promised a call back and didn't get one. The room was nice enough however the lift didn't work and we had to carry very heavy bags and shopping down to the basement carpark from our room. My mother who has terrible arthritis had to walk down these same stairs as there was no other way for us to get her down. She has been sore ever since. We would have rung to get someone to service the lift but what was the point now one would have called us anyway.

This guest stayed immediately after the flash floods in St Kilda. The basement car park become flooded and hence the lift were not working for a short period. Half the buildings in Bayside St Melbourne experienced the same problem during this period. Re Foxtel, apologies to this guest. We will look into what happened! We have contacted this guest and offered a 20% discount off their next stay, should they decide to give us another go :-)

Left on 07/08/2010 for a stay in May 2009
We stayed at Barkly Street in 2009 and have complained bitterly to Darryl. There was a leak in the bathroom into the master bedroom... it stunk. The spare bedroom was devoid of windows and stunk of cigarette smoke. We received a discount on our next stay in St Kilda East which was better. Just a warning... Your apartments have been cheaply renovated and hence are showing signs of early aging. Beds are comfy, linen nice but bathrooms are showing signs of unnecessary mould. Shower doors have water spotting and not cleaned as they should. Kitchen could have been cleaner. the oven tray was greasy and unwashed. You asked for my feed back... Sorry, but there it is, in a nutshell!!!

UKPerfect location, lovely apartment
Left on 07/08/2010 for a stay in March 2008
Beach, cafes, restaurants, book stores, supermarkets, home-made icecream, cosmopolitan life, tram to the city all on the doorstep. Bus to Richmond and North Fitzroy to friends on one side of the building; bus to Brighton, Sandringham to family on the other. As I said, perfect location.
Some of the furnishings were cheap, eg. the dining chairs - one of which collapsed at a welding point, under my husband.
The second bedroom doesn't have a window although the glass door was fine - particularly as our child was in it only for sleeping each night.
Problems with the washing machine but it was sorted relatively quickly.
Didn't have a reasonably-priced broadband or wireless internet access which was a major annoyance. While business travellers may accept such hefty extras, we pay-ourselvers baulked.
Loved this apartment and would happily return. Hopefully the internet access is now included... -

Left on 07/01/2010 for a stay in April 2010
It was my family's first time in Melbourne, Australia. I had 3 very young children with us. There were 3 adults, my mother-in-law, my wife and myself. We booked the apartment without any idea how its neighborhood or location is. We were on a self drive holiday. It was easy to get to with the help of a GPS. Assessing the unit was a challenge as we did not have an idea what time we will reach and by the time I reached the place, it was early morning. I rang Expresso up and was directed to pick it up from the letter box. Fiddling with the key lock in the letter box was another challenge.
The apartment was pleasant, beautiful, new and very comfortable. As it was chilly outside, there was even warm air from the air conditioning.
We stayed at another unit on our return trip to Melbourne after going around the state for a week.
That was a pleasant as well and we will want to stay at Expresso apartment again when we return. Thank you for the comfortable lodging which was home to us. -
