Escape after a busy week at "Hidden Cove". This is a 1 bedroom apartment located in rural southern Maryland --- an easy drive from major metropolitan areas.

Resting on the shores of Wells Cove, it is part of the Patuxent River and its tributary system. The owners take great pride in enjoying, sharing and protecting this delicate watershed. Consider your health in this "green" rental, maintained with non-chemical cleaning products (also provided for your use). This truly is a relaxing getaway from the city life featuring amenities not experienced in an urban setting, while still providing you with your everyday basics such as a full kitc...hen, laundry facility and WiFi.

This rental apartment on the lower level was newly constructed in 2008 and comes with a private parking area and walkway leading to the apartment. Beyond your small private yard and patio, you can see the shores of Wells Cove. Feel free to bring your boat and use the dock or borrow the owner's kayak for a day on the water. Unwind on the patio in the evenings and appreciate the spectacular sunsets.

Enjoy a day of crabbing or fishing from the dock as you take pleasure in the pristine setting. Head out on your bike, go for a jog or take an evening stroll along the road. In addition there are many places to visit in Calvert County. The Battle Creek Cypress Swamp is the northern most cypress swamp on the east coast. It makes for a perfect day's outing either by water or land. There are great local "crab houses", seafood restaurants and evening entertainment.

Calvert County has public parks located on the Chesapeake Bay where you can hunt for shark teeth on the beach or enjoy a hike. The American Chestnut Land Trust has preserved acres of open land for hiking and canoeing. Chesapeake Beach has a waterfront boardwalk along the Chesapeake Bay and is home to The Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum. Solomons Island is a tourist destination in itself. It is home to the Calvert Marine Museum. Take a boat ride on the "Tennison"--the oldest passenger vessel on the bay, enjoy a tour of the Drum Point Lighthouse and learn about the local maritime history.

  Off the beaten path, but apartment could use some love.

  Let's start with the best parts: drinking coffee/having breakfast on the patio while reading - and getting a great view of the water (Wells Cove). Sitting on the dock at night, looking up at the stars, watching the fish jump and enjoying a beer. Having a fridge to store groceries.
  
  Not-so-favorite parts. A small and very uncomfortable bed. I'm 5' 9" and my feet fell off the end. Broken window blinds in the bedroom. Hearing a dog bark and people walking around upstairs.
  
  The location was great for us. Close to DC, but off the beaten path. We loved the quiet nights and mornings, but wouldn't stay here again because it didn't feel super romantic or even private.

  Very comfortable acommodation in a beautiful setting. Marla & George are great hosts, the cottage is well appointed and the sunsets from the guest patio are unbelievable. Canoing the waterways and the tranquility of the setting make it a remarkable place to stay.
