Gambrills, MDLa Plantation Hotel - Orient Beach
Left on 03/25/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Our room was an upper room. The view was wonderful and the room was very spacious. The hotel staff were very helpful and accomodating for anything we needed. They will cash travellers checks if they have the cash available. Most of our stay (2 weeks) was not a problem, but there were a couple days they could not. The restaurant food was great. The hotel was a short walk to the beach and to the village, which had wonderful restaurants available. There was also a liquor store and grocery store in the village. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay on Orient beach.

First of all, let me say that the service at La Plantation is the best I have ever experienced in many years of travel. The staff at the hotel section was most accomodating and there was not one thing that they refused to do. The wait staff at the restaurant and bar was also the best. Always a smile on their faces, these ladies did not disappoint.
Now as to the grounds themselves. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a suite that was on the second level, so we could see Orient Bay from our patio. The kitchenette was in good shape. The bed was comfortable and the overall room very comfortable. The bathroom was fine except that the shower drain ran very slowly (clogged). We comlained about this and when we came back to the room that evening we found the stopper sitting on the sink. Apparently they thought if they took the stopper out, it would improve the flow. Not so. It ran just as slowly with the stopper out as it did when it was in.
The streets are neat with these beautiful street lights. The problem is that not all the street lights work (only about half. So, when they are on, only half are on. I think all they need to do is to change the bulbs. We also noticed that there were security cameras in different areas of the plantation. The only problem was that it was obvious they did not work because the lines had been cut.
I think the ownership needs to sink a little money into the place. Not a whole lot, but if they did my rating would have been 5 stars.
We will go back...hopefully, management will read this and take care of those litle items that just bug people. -

The staff was fantastic. La Plantation had a great tapas menu. Hotel was a short walk from Orient Beach. Unfortunately, our room was small and outdated. Older air conditioning system. The rooms are set up where the suites are in the center and studios are on either side. I would recommend requesting an even numbered room; much cleaner and brighter.

Beautiful property overlooking Orient Beach. Ten minute walk to beach and restaurants. Rooms were spacious and nice island feel. Fresh flowers adorning the room on arrival were a lovely touch. Pool was a great treat at the end of the day after the beach. Guest services at the front desk were attentive and pleasant. We had a lovely dinner poolside one night. The shower and bathroom were the best we had during our stay on the island, we split the week between two hotels.
Only drawbacks were the bed was very uncomfortable, twins pushed together should not be called a king. Uncomfortable and not great for couples. I did not like having to lock the shutters at night for security reasons, made me feel a little vulnerable and not able to relax. it would be nice to have the bar open during the day for drinks and snacks too. -

My wife and I spent a week at the hotel, and we enjoyed our stay greatly. The staff is friendly, the room was large and had much welcomed a/C, and the maid service was wonderful. It is close to Orient Beach. The breakfast was delicious, especially the eggs. I would definitely return to this hotel. Be sure to pay a little more for one of the villas on the hill, as they have a better view and more privacy.
