Additional Location Information
Every guide book talks of ‘breathtaking’, ‘unspoilt’, Bathway Beach. This is the heart of authentic, hidden Grenada. Discover historic plantation houses, haunting Carib's Leap and evocative Helvellyn House with its’ famous pottery. Grand Etang National Reserve is just 30 minutes drive away. Within 10 minutes' drive are shops and supermarkets and a number of restaurants ranging from the formal to the charming. However, just a few minute’s walk along the beach are 3 ramshackle ‘chicken shacks’ serving freshly caught fish and chicken of course and behind them is the popular Aggie's restaurant.
For nature lovers Levera Beach is moments away, a secluded haven for birds and sea turtles, including the giant Leatherback. ‘This is Turtle watching is at it's best!’ Local fishermen will take you fishing or for a day's picnic and snorkelling on Sandy Island (which lies opposite the beach house) where the famous Bounty Chocolate bar adverts were filmed – this truly is ‘A taste of paradise’.
Although your villa has a full kitchen, dining out is part of the adventure on Holiday, and booking ahead will give you access to the road less travelled here in the North! Helvellyn House must be booked in advance for lunch, as does lunch or dinner at River Antoine Rum Distillery's restaurant, Rivers, and for lunch, dinner and tours call ahead for Morne Fendue Plantation House (the Betty Mascoll House). No reservations are required at Helena's, a fun local restaurant in Sauteurs, where the options are usually "chicken or fish, big or small" but the ambience is wonderful, with this obviously the choice luncheon option for locals!
The Heights is a firm favourite, where you can enjoy lazy lunches or drinks with unsurpassed views up the Grenadines, or a relaxed dinner in the evenings. There is always fresh local fish on the menu, served in tempting dishes!
A moment further along the same road is Petite Anse offers more sophisticated menu, with plenty of seating along their balcony to enjoy the wonderful view.

New YorkFantastic, relaxing getaway
Left on 12/12/2012 for a stay in November 2012
In November, my wife and I along with two other friends spent a fantastic week in Grenada at the Moonfish Villas.
The villas are simple, but elegant and very spacious. The bedrooms are downstairs, while the kitchen and the living room are upstairs. The true "living room" however is the patio on the second floor with postcard worthy views of the ocean and the Bathway beach. It is a treat throughout the day. There is also a beautiful patio on the first floor, accessed through french doors from the bedrooms. I really enjoyed rolling off the bed onto the patio to watch the sunrise laying down on the hammock.
Bathway is somewhat far from the more touristic southwest part of the island, so do not expect a bustling neighborhood. There are no grocery stores walking distance. There is a superb restaurant called aggie's a few minutes walk from the villas. Otherwise, we cooked a few meals at home or drove towards Sauteurs where there are quite a few good restaurants.
Bathway beach is beautiful but it is safe to swim only from a small portion of it. This area is a 2 minute walk on the beach from the villas and are essentially tidal pools on the shore. They are great for relaxing and short swim, but probably not ideal for someone looking for extended swimming. Likewise, the dipping pool in front of the villas is a great way to relax while sipping a few drinks and enjoying the spectacular views.
And finally our host Kitty, who made our stay memorable. She was incredibly accommodating and helpful and made us feel at home. We sent her a list of provision before our arrival and she stocked up our fridge. She helped us getting our rental car, gave us great recommendations and was there for all our needs. We cannot say enough about her.
All in all, I would recommend Moonfish villas to any one looking to truly get away from the crowds and relax. We really enjoyed our time. -

If you are after a peaceful secluded getaway these villas are perfect. Kitty & Russ are very friendly and helpful. Whilst quite basic the villa was exactly what we were looking for and I can honestly say that I have never slept so well with the sound of the sea rendering me comatose every night. The nearby restaurants are a very pleasant, short walk away although if you needed provisions you would definitely need a car. Because the villas are so close to the sea many electrical items, hairdryer for instance, are not provided so you would have to pack your own. This was the only area where I thought that the accommodation lacked, however this did not detract from our stay at all as we had our laptop and other electrical items with us. The other point which is not made clear in the advertising is that the sea is too dangerous close to the villa to swim and only a small area is safe which is a short walk up the beach. Suffice to stay, I cannot wait to book again. My husband and I both agreed that this is easily one of the best holidays we have had. Many thanks Kitty & Russ, keep up the great work x

186346Peaceful villas in a great loaction nad fantastic views
Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in March 2012
As 2 couples we stayed her for the first week of our 2 week stay on the island, the latter week pre booked for the south. I have to say the villa exceeded our expectations. The 2 villas are the same and though next to each other and adjoining the owners property each is very private, other than the shared pool. The accomodation is finished in a miniamalistic but beautiful style, everyything you imagine from beach style accomodation. With nicely finished wooden floors you just want to wander around in your bare feet. Access to the beach is directly from the garden and the view from the balcony and the bedroom windows to the beach, the sea and Sandy Island is fantastic . A trip to Sandy Island is a must and Kitty the owner, who is extermely helpful will gladly arrange this for you with a local fisherman, convh shells abound on the island, so do not buy any elsewhere.
There is a nice little restaturant a few minutes walk away opposite Bathway Beach (closed only on Mondays), Aggies, where you will get good value food and a warm welcome.. The people att he beach shack bars are very friendly. All these facilities are to the south and away from the villas and out of hear shot. The only sound at night is the waves on the shore.
Levearra Beach is along the road to the north a stroll away.
If you want to venture further you really need a car, and there is plenty to do here in the north but in a much more laid back style than the south. Levarra, Lake antoine and Mt Carmel waterfalls are all worth a visit . As you drive through the villages you will be amazed at the colourful gardens, however I suspect in this accomodation you will mainly want to chill looking out to sea, or at the occasional Frigate birds soaring overhead, either from the balcony ot poolside.
Despite some misgivings beforehand ther is a real feeling of security despite the beach front location, enahnce d more so by better knowing the Greandian people, who are ery friendly when spoken to first but perhaps resreved until you break the ice.
Thera number of decent eating palce within 1/2 hours drive but lunch seems to be the way of life here rather than evening meals, However evening meals can be booked at Petite anse Hotel, Aggies and the Heights and lunches also at Helvelyn House and Helenas in Sauteres. Neither Sauteres nor Grenville are tourist based, but you will get a sample of local life and ther are supermarkets at both for your needs, including beer and wine, unlike last year they both now supply tonic for that duty free gin.
Grenville has a very good veg and fish market and whilst you are there try the Melting Pot canteen where you will eat with the locals ffrom a choice of local meals for 13ecd for a main meal veg and a beer! This palce is upstairs next to the supermarket at the far end of the main road and overlooks the sea.
If Grande anse is your bag forget this, but if you want to chill, or want a bit of both like us, this is the place to come for the chill part with great hosts in Kitty and Russ, not forgetting the big, but soft Joe the dog! -

This is a beautiful stretch of beach away from the crowds and very relaxing. That being said, you will either need a car, or bring your provisions for the week. There is limited transportation. If renting a car, remember, driving is on the left and the roads are curvy/mountainous and narrow. The house was fresh/bright and relaxing by the pool was a pleasure.

Moonfish Villa is located in a charming area of Grenada on the north side of the island away from the crowds & tourists. A location well suited to the adventurous traveler or traveler seeking a relaxing holiday just steps from the sandy beach. The villa is a lovely 2 story villa offering spacious and lovely accommodations with a view of the beach and water that is unbeatable. Kitty is wonderful and most accommodating.

LondonJaw-droppingly lovely
Left on 03/19/2012 for a stay in January 2012
The island is peaceful, geographically diverse, warm, unspoiled - and safely in the hands of the people who live there. The houses are cleverly designed and like giant beach huts, with lofty ceilings, bare wood and chunky ratan furniture. The noises of the sea waft in from French doors on both floors to complete the vibe.
The beach outside is yours, and it's a perfect place to sit and wonder. The breeze means its never too hot, and there is plenty to see - magnificent frigate birds were our favourites, but there were also pelicans and some other things we didn't recognise.
We drove the island every day. It's tiny on the map, but the winding roads and mountainous, jungly interior makes it a mission to move even a few miles. A week wasn't quite long enough, but that's the sign of a good holiday.
Kitty really put the effort in to help our stay. I don't mean in a functional, superintendent's way. I mean she thought about what would add to a holiday. She fixed a puncture after I'd driven our jeep into her wall. She had us picked up from the airport. She found us restaurants, picked up our shopping, advised on local culture... But we'll always, always remember the trip, arranged by Kitty, to Sandy Island. Which was so perfect it was almost comical. I attach a photo.
We would do the whole trip again, without changing a thing.

ScotlandA Beautiful Beach House!
Left on 03/26/2011 for a stay in November 2010
We have just returned from a fantastic week in Grenada. The accommodation was wonderful - very stylish, great views and brilliant balconies with stunning views.
Kitty and Russ made us feel very welcome and their advice as to where to go and what to do was invaluable.
Grenada itself is a beautiful island with very friendly people. We enjoyed the peaceful location of Bathways Beach and really liked being based in the North of the island.
We will certainly be recommending Grenada and Moonfish Beach Houses to our friends.
