This house is 100 feet from a cliff overlooking the southeast Atlantic coast of tropical Barbados in the eastern Caribbean. There is excellent reception for HAM radio operators. There are two antenna on the property. The two bedrooms both have kingsize beds, sinks, and 6-foot-wide windows that get a continuous ocean breeze (meaning NO mosquitos). Watch sunrise and moonrise while lieing in bed. It has hardwood floors, high ceilings, lots of closet and drawer space, beautifully tiled new bathroom with marble counter, and a large open verandah with furniture and hammock as well as a large, sunny, L-shaped, enclosed verandah with a single bed and... a couch that folds out to a double bed. Enjoy an unobstructed view of the white water breaking on the reef about 500 feet offshore. Inside of the reef the water is a fabulous aquamarine. You can also see the beach from the house. Concrete steps lead down to it (a 2-minute walk). There is a natural swimming pool, protected from the waves by a line of rocks, perfect for swimming at mid-tide. This house was renovated in 2010. It has all new plumbing, wiring, windows, roof, bathroom, kitchen, tiling, ceilings, painting inside and out, and more. The furniture is new or antique and original Caribbean art hangs on the walls. All linen is supplied and the kitchen is fully furnished (wine glasses, dishes, small appliances, etc). Solar panels provide very hot water. You will feel you are in a private home rather than a bare-bones rental cottage. Barbados is a Caribbean island that is located approximately 13N latitude and 59W longitude. The house is in a very quiet area with no traffic. There are a few cows and white egrets in the field beyond the property wall. With no nearby streetlights, you can enjoy the brilliant stars overhead at night. It is surrounded nearby by a safe, middle-class neighborhood of mostly new homes owned by both locals and expats. It is on the cliff just north of the historic Sam Lord's Castle and south of Harry Smith mansion ruins. It is a great location for photography walks and beach combing. Walk along the wilderness cliff with steps down to different remote beaches in coves with palm trees surrounded by cliffs. The bus stop is a five-minute walk. It is a ten-minute drive grocery store, banks, post office, video store, several restaurants, and other shops. Barbados is surrounded with white sand beaches. Explore a different one every day. Drive 25 minutes to popular south coast tourist beaches and nightlife or 40 minutes to up-market west coast beaches with flat water, water sports, restaurants, and nightlife. Barbados is 22 miles long with 280,000 people. There's lots to do and see; you'll hardly get your first book read! Although this is a 2 bedroom house with an office with A/C, the house can sleep 9 people, not counting the double hammock! A one-time cleaning fee of $100 US is added to rental fee. This is at the dead end of a road so there is no traffic, noisy neighbors, or streetlights to interfere with brilliant stars at night. Lovely cliff walks to different beaches. It is just north of the historic Sam Lord's Castle and beach and just south of Harry Smith ruins (old coral stone mansion) and Bottom Bay beach. Bus stop is 5 minute walk. Grocery store is 10-minute drive.

  We had plenty of elbow room in this fine house on the atlantic Coast. Solar heated water was plentiful for us 4 guests although there was a backup heater if necessary. You can see the beach from the front porch and just a short hike to get down there. A constant Ocean breeze kept the house at a reasonable temperature.
  
  On the East Side of Barbados you are far from the usual tourist activities. This is a great place for quiet and solitude. You will need to rent a car and go discovering. A modern grocery store 10 minutes by car. Bring a GPS because the roads are a puzzling poorly marked adventure. After 8 days we got the hang of it but had to go home.

  It is true the roads are poorly marked, but the island is only 22 miles long. The way to explore is to just stop and ask someone along the road, "Which way to...?" and they will point the direction or give you exact instructions. Everyone is used to helping tourists driving. There is a bus stop 5 minutes walk from the house and buses do go all over the island. There are lovely places to visit walking along trails on the cliff. No, you do not need a GPS!
