Situated adjacent to a small sandy beach on a low cliff, 'Altamar' is an exclusive 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom property in one of the most spectacular oceanfront locations in Barbados. Set in extensive, private, landscaped grounds, peppered with coconut palm trees, the property enjoys breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean. Although Altamar can accommodate up to 8 guests, we are happy to rent to fewer people at lower rental rates.

Altamar is located in the rural parish of St. Philip in Barbados away from the more traditional, busy tourist areas on the South & West coast of the island. The villa is in a peaceful area right on the ocean front with stunning panoramic sea views. This is a beautiful, fairly rugged coastline that includes the famous Crane beach & Bottom Bay. Enjoy Altamar in Barbados all year round: Our ocean front property can be enjoyed in Barbados all of the year with perfect daytime and evening temperatures. It tends to be less breezy, with calmer sea in the summer months (June to September), making swimming and snorkeling at the small beach within a few steps of the villa a perfect way to keep cool and enjoy some exercise. The summer can be an exciting time in Barbados with the famous 'Cropover Festival', taking place in July and August. In addition, the many golf courses can be enjoyed in Barbados all the year round.

My family and I stayed at this property in May of 2009 for my twin sisters wedding held at the Crane Resort. When we first arrived at altamar, we were all so happy with the house and property; the pictures just don't do the place justice. The large lot the villa sits on is very special, and Sharks Hole beach is also a very special protected swimming spot. The short distance to The Crane from altamar really benefited me so I could be with my sister and help with the wedding details. I had to write this review when I saw the villa on Flipkey, although I found altamar on another vacation rental site in 2009. My sister and I returned to Barbados 2 years after the wedding and ended up in another villa only because it excepted credit cards, and what a mistake it was to not return to altamar! Never again will we visit Barbados without staying there. It is truly a special place.

My husband and I regularly travel to Barbados but this was our first time staying at altamar. It was just the two of us for our first week and then our adult children and their partners joined us for Christmas & New Years. We all fell in love with altamar and agreed that we would be happy to return again one day. We spent most of our time on the back deck overlooking Sharks Hole and looked forward to low tide every day so that we could go for our daily dips. Sitting on the rock overlooking the water was also a favorite pastime. As our childrens' partners had never been to Barbados, the plan was to do the tourist thing with them but it turned out that no one ever wanted to leave our very peaceful new home! We would go out to Emerald City or stop at Cutters for food, perhaps stop somewhere for lunch and then the men would barbeque at home in the evening. We had lots of shade for those that needed to be out of the sun during the day and the star gazing in the evening was heavenly. A perfect family Christmas!
