Baranga is one of ten individually-owned private bungalows nestled in the lushly-landscaped Castle Close located on the south eastern coast of Barbados. The living area has a pickled peaked ceiling with a bar area and comfortable couches for lounging or watching cable television. The formal dining area lies between two of the bedrooms and the living room, while the gazebo that overlooks the large pool and waterfall is a perfect location for casual dining. From this area, you can enjoy lovely ocean views over the lush lawns and colorful shrubbery.

The master bedroom opens onto the pool deck via French doors. This beautifully-decorated be...droom has a spacious ensuite bathroom with shower and separate Jacuzzi. There is an enclosed privacy garden which is accessed from this bathroom where guests may have an outdoor shower but are ensured privacy by the surrounding wall.

There are two other bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms; while identical in size, their decor is delightfully different. Air-conditioning is provided in each bedroom but is seldom required, as cooling breezes waft through the villa by day and night. A well-equipped kitchen and laundry room round off the accommodations at this villa.

Daily maid service is provided at Baranga. For guests who wish to take meals at the cottage, arrangements can be made for a cook to provide local cuisine. The cook is not included in the rate, nor groceries, but these can be ordered for your convenience to be delivered prior to your arrival should you wish to have a meal prepared in advance.

There is easy access to several beaches; the closest is just below Castle Close itself -- a staircase opposite the house leads directly down to that secluded, palm-shaded strand.Read more

Additional Location Information

Baranga is located on the south-eastern side of the island. The house is one of 10 private villas in what is known as Castle Close. There are lovely ocean views from the villa, especially the pool deck, gazebo and master bedroom. The Sam Lord's beach is just a short walk across the garden and private Castle Close road. There is a parking spot in front of the villa for one vehicle and additional parking is available on the back lawn behind the villa.

  We love the sea breezes and privacy of the landscaped Castle Close community, something that is hard to get on the crowded south and west coasts.  With the covered terrace over looking the great pool and garden, there's really no reason to leave the property. There are a number of secluded beaches minutes from the house and dramatic walking paths along the coral cliffs; we prefer the nearby Crane beach for the body surfing and the availability of beach chairs and umbrellas (a Banks beer doesn't hurt). The Crane Resort has a number of restaurants with great views of the sea, Zen is a favorite. The house has a fully equipped kitchen that makes for cooking wonderful meals especially with nearby Oistin Fish Market and Emerald City supermarket 15-20 minutes away (numerous local vegetable stands dot the roads). For the last 8 years Ester the housekeeper has kept the spacious 3 bedroom/bath house in shape for us. It's only a short drive from the airport, a car does allow us to see the island at our own pace but a taxi now and then makes going out to dinner at night more relaxed.
