Additional Location Information
The Etangs de Villepey form one of the few lagoons between the Camargue and Italy, and are home to an abundance of species which thrive in a humid environment. Around 240 different bird species have been observed there with May and early September being especially interesting for spotting migratory birds. There are footpaths and observation hides allowing you to enjoy the flora and fauna at close quarters.
There are a variety of public gardens nearby, like Jardin Public du Clos de la Tour and Parc Aurélien where as well as botanical collections, you can observe remains of roman aqueducts and villas. The Parc Areca at the entrance to St Aygulf, is a real exotic seaside paradise with many species of palms, bamboos and pines.
There are some lovely coastal walks, with over 200 kilometres of pathways along the Var coast. There is a section between Frejus and Roquebrune sur Argens and a 45 minute walk from the port at St Aygulf to Le Boucharel or for a slightly longer walk, St Aygulf to Pointe de la Tourterelle takes around 1 hour.
