Eaton Rapids, MichiganAmazing cottage!
Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in October 2012
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. It is difficult to describe how comfortable and convenient this little cottage is. There are all the mod cons and it is quaint, too, on top of that. You feel as though you have your own little nest in the countryside. Tansy and Mike are gracious and helpful hosts, with all the information you need to visit the historic beaches and other sights in the area. The glassed-in patio overlooking the pond and the animal enclosures is ideal for breakfast or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. This cottage was all that was promised and more! I highly recommed this gite for a couple looking for a romantic and convenient location.

The cottage is adorable and it is in a real farm setting with animals and beautifully-landscaped property. Owners are warm and wonderful and helpful with any needs - from where to visit to where to eat. Just the nicest and most helpful people.
We loved our stay at La Ferme Eglise!Response from tansy forster - 11/18/2012

Robina, AustraliaEverything you could ever want for a holiday
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We spent a week at Ferme de l'Eglise and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The cottage is a lovely mix of the old and the new - historic lounge and bedroom and very modern kitchen, bathroom and conservatory/ dining room. Tansy and Mike have equipped the cottage with everything you could need for your stay, including bath robes, books, bikes, Dvds and kitchen and bathroom supplies. They are truly wonderful hosts and made us feel so welcome, as did Simon who met us on arrival. Tansy had sent us a very comprehensive information package including exact details on how to locate the cottage all the way to australia when we booked. Nothing is overlooked to make sure that you enjoy your time with them. The cottage has a very good internet connection and lots of satellite TV channels to choose from. It was a treat for us to be on a small farm surrounded by so many animals who we were free to interact with if we wished.

Eden Prairie MinnesotaWhen can I return?
Left on 01/11/2012 for a stay in September 2011
I'm adding to the review I left on November 1, 2011. I can't get Ferme de l'Eglise out of my mind. It's the perfect place to allow yourself to relax and become part of village life in Normandy. Why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can enjoy your own cottage on the beautiful grounds of a cozy farm? Mike and Tansy are wonderful hosts who have a lot of knowledge of the area. The cottage is spotless when you arrive. You won't be disappointed, of that I'm certain.

Eden Prairie Minnesota USAA Wonderful Place to Stay in Normandy
Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in September 2011
My husband and I had a wonderful week at the cottage at Ferme de l'Eglise in September. The cottage is a lovely place that feels homey and upscale at the same time. Tansy and Mike are great hosts, and the animals add to the ambience. The location is superb for getting around the Cotentin peninsula. It was so enjoyable to walk around Houesville in the evening and pick the wild berries along the roads. We enjoyed visiting the small villages and seeing the natural beauty as well as the historic sights. So delightful! I have to return.

My wife and I stayed at this cottage and loved every minute of it. Tansy Forster and her husband Mike will offer you the warmest of welcomes, and you will immediately feel the relaxed ambience they have created for your stay.
The cottage is situated in the grounds of an old farm and was once the village Boulangerie. It is now converted into a stunning holiday home, with attention to detail that retains character whilst providing the most modern amenities.
The accommodation is absolutely perfect for couples of all ages.
At the end of the garden there are goats, ducks, chickens, and even a couple of llamas!! Add to that five dogs and two cats and you start to get a picture of the idyllic French retreat that Tansy and Mike have created in this little bit of heaven on earth, and you could be part of it, at least for the duration of your holiday.
If you are looking for a romantic break, or if you enjoy the simple pleasures of life then you will not be disappointed.
There is only one word to describe our stay at the cottage…. Fabulous.Response from tansy forster - 09/01/2011

We had a fantastic stay in the Barn apartment, well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. Tansy and Mike are there if you need them but if you want privacy they give it. The animals are great and the frogs in the pond entertaining. I was ill for some of our stay but despite this we can not fault anything , excellent location for visiting all war associated attractions, lovely gardens that you are very welcome to use and relax in, bbq etc. We would recomend a stay here.

Niagara Falls, Ontario, CanadaWhat a Gem!
Left on 07/05/2011 for a stay in April 2011
"Le Ferme d'Anglais" is located in the small village of Houseville minutes off the a13 auto route, close to major centers and the beaches of Normandy.
Our hosts Tansy and Michael Foster really understand the meaning of hospitality. The facitilies consist of a tastemfully decorated apartment in their restored farmhouse and across the courtyard a charming converted building which once was the communial bakery for the village. Attached to this is a lovely conservatory/dining room overlooking a pond surronded by gardens. Both accommodations have kitchens equiped with everything to bring a smile to a French chef. The living areas show great attention to details, perhaps a reflection of Mike's career as a professional photographer.
Another interesting aspect of this gite was visiting the many rescue animals grazing in the back pasture and lovingly attended by Tansy.
We were fortunate to spend eight wonderful days here while exploring Normandy. Would we recommend "The English Farm"? Without reservation!Response from tansy forster - 07/17/2011
Owner
Thank you so much - we try very hard to get it right and to think of everything you would need in the kitchen and throughout the gite.

Carbondale, IllinoisGreat central location for all of Normandy
Left on 04/20/2011 for a stay in April 2011
This property provides a terrific location for quickly accessing all the major tourist sights in Normandy, while still being able to enjoy French small-town country life. At the end of each day, after fighting the crowds of other tourists, we were happy to get away from all that and return to this haven in the country.
The owners are extremely friendly and outgoing, and went way beyond what we expected to make sure that everything was perfect and that we got the most from our visit to Normandy. They were able to make suggestions to help us avoid crowds and see the sights that we would enjoy most.
One reason we chose an apartment was so we could make our own meals. With the fully-equipped, modern kitchen in this apartment and several markets within short driving distance, we managed to do very well. At the same time, there are many restaurants within a reasonable distance if you don't feel like cooking.
A major attraction for us was the animals, which include dogs, cats, a donkey, goats, sheep, llamas, chickens, and a goose. All are friendly and welcome visitors.
I should emphasize that this is rural, small-town living. As such, it comes with all the usual country noises such as the donkey braying or sheep baa-ing. Additionally, there is a church bell that rings every half hour. None of these sounds bothered us, in fact we found them comforting, but some people might not agree.
Overall, we loved the apartment, its location, and the owners. We strongly recommend this rental to anyone who wants to explore Normandy while also experiencing small-town country life in rural Normandy.Response from tansy forster - 04/27/2011

We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to Normandy & our apartment.
We're now getting ready for the 6th June celebrations here, the season in the region is starting to build up and soon there will be festivals, carnivals and fetes every single day throughout June, July & August!
With the amazing weather we have had in Normandy this April everything is in full blossom, the area is particularly beautiful right now... you did catch a great time to visit.
The Jacks in particular love visitors, especially Madge as she is convinced anyone that comes to stay is here for one reason only - that is to play with her! Our guests do have to like animals, the rural location and all the noises that go with it, so for us it is an added bonus when folk arrive, melt into our environment, enjoy it as you guys did and then to take the time to do a glowing review... thank you for choosing our place and you know where we are if you do indeed come back to Normandy! -

Left on 03/06/2011 for a stay in August 2010
The cottage was the perfect size for us and our dog. The location was central and allowed wonderful day trips to be planned - Mont St. Michel, the Normandy beaches, Bayeux, etc. We really cannot say enough good things about the hosts - Mike & Tansy or their cottage, the location, their dogs, etc. Mike & Tansy were so very welcoming that we felt right at home from the beginning. They were helpful with suggestions on sightseeing excursions and local restaurants - even made reservations for us at one of their favorite places. Would love to travel back and stay there when our schedules permit.

EnglandFantastic Holiday
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in July 2010
We had an amazing holiday in Normandy, and we could not have been more pleased with the barn apartment. It was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed being able to cook in the evenings with all the amazing local produce and enjoyed Tansy's Hen's freshly laid eggs in the morning for breakfast.
Tansy and Mike were wonderful hosts, and helped us with our sightseeing trips around Normandy and were always on hand to help with the history lesson on the D-Day landings in Normandy.
We would highly recommend this property to anyone interested in planning a trip to the area; it is conveniently located to all the beaches and historic sights with the Normandy Landing Beaches, Memorial Cemeteries and Museums just minutes away.
We are looking forward to returning not only to visit with Tansy and Mike, but also to see Madge the Jack Russell and Stavros the donkey, who always greeted us with us with enthusiam!
