Description from the owner
3 bedrooms in «Le Séchoir», on the estate of Château Bouynot, a 19th century Castle located at the border of the Gironde and Lot et Garonne districts. "Le Séchoir" is a cathedral-like wooden building, originally made as a place to dry tobacco leaves, and converted into a two-storey modern home available for self-catering rentals. "Le Séchoir" is set at a distance from the Château, on its seven-hectare (17-acre) estate filled with pine trees and fields, with its own garden planted with flower beds and trees, and its own 10x5 metre swimming pool, heated from May to October. Additional Location Information
Château Bouynot is located at the border of the Gironde and Lot et Garonne districts. The village of Meilhan-sur-Garonne, 5 kilometres from Château Bouynot, offers a grocery, butcher, bakery, restaurant, pub, post office, and doctor.
The village is on the Canal de Garonne, the continuation of the Canal du Midi, with its towpath running alongside the canal that provides miles of safe and level cycling, jogging, and walking under the shade of the plane trees. A short walk from the house is the pony club at Noaillac, where horse-riding trips can be arranged. An 18 hole golf course is available at Casteljaloux (20 kilometres away).
Chateau Bouynot is a wonderful starting point for numerous cultural and historical trips. Plan a visit to the vineyards and châteaux of the Sauternais area (20 minutes away) or the medieval city of St-Emilion (45 minutes).
The ancient town of Bazas (20 minutes), with its finely-preserved architecture, lies on the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostella.
Bordeaux, only 40 minute drive, is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its 18th century centre. Children will enjoy a day out at the Walabi amusement park. And don’t miss the opportunity to discover the local wines, produce, and foie gras, at the several weekly farmers’ markets at Meilhan, Marmande and Bazas.
Chateau Bouynot is easily reached by car (A62), train (La Réole) or from Bordeaux-Mérignac airport 75 km away.

What Past Guests Are Saying
We had an amazing time at le Séchoir. The place is straight out of architecture Digest... wait, it is featured in several French homes/gardens and B & B magazines! The hosts, Véronique and François are very attentive while respecting your privacy.
Le Séchoir is an old tabacco drying barn that has been carefully and tastefully renovated with top-of-the-line, modern amenities. 3 large bedrooms w/ 3 incredible Italian style showers, fully-equipped kitchen to accomodate your gastronomical lunchs and dinners. The dining room and living area are spacious. There is even high-speed internet and TV if you need to stay connected to the outside world.
The private pool is a definite plus after a day trip to the nearby beautiful city of Bordeaux, local castles, numerous vineyards or even the atlantic ocean beaches. It is very quiet and of easy acces to the main highway that will take you to Bordeaux in less than 45mn.
Ask for neighbor Madame Coulon and her garden-grown fruits and vegetables (awesome melons and tomatoes) or nearby Maison la Renardière for local pâtés, terrines and foie gras. Grab a bottle of local wine (the choice is almost endless) and experience the true "joie de vivre".
Merci encore à Véronique and François, we are fans!
I stayed with a group of 6 friends at Le Sechoir. The house was a former tobacco drying barn and had been beautifully restored. The best part was the heated floors and the great shower!
Lots of space, wonderful kitchen with every possible amenity and our group loved the coffee pot. We cooked every night and enjoyed using the herbs from the garden.
Very comfortable beds, too. The house was spotlessly clean.
The location was ok--a little far to a grocery store. We made a wrong turn and had a little trouble finding it originally. Lots of villages to visit nearby. We did not see the owners or their tenants, but they were on site if we needed them. Had a lovely patio and garden in the back.
Hope to go back!
