    Additional Location Information

The medieval village of St Thibéry is on the Herault River, an ancient stop along the Roman Via Domitia and the southern route for pilgrims through France to Santiago de Compostela. It is located between Béziers and Montpéllier, roughly halfway between Pézénas and Agde, just a 15 minute drive fsouth to the sandy beaches of Cap d'Agde, Vias and Valras Plages, and the eight mile golden Plage de la Corniche or north to the splendors of the Haut-Languedoc. Energetic visitors can enjoy a great choice of activities including hiking, cycling, boating, swimming, fishing, water sports, canoeing (even river rafting!), horse riding, tennis and golf. Or visit the ancient Greek port of Agde, Molière’s Pézénas, the fishing city of Sète, and fresh oyster lagoons at Mèze and Bouzigues. Exploring further, visit the regional capital of Montpellier, the Roman cities of Narbonne, Nîmes, Avignon and the Pont du Gard, the Crusaders’ Aigues Mortes, Camargue wildlife, the spectacular Haut-Languedoc and the Cévènnes, medieval walled Carcassonne, and even the Spanish Costa Brava and Barcelona, all within an easy drive.

Nearest international airports are Beziers-Cap d'Agde, Montpellier, Nîmes, Marseille, Carcassonne, Toulouse, & Perpignan. With easy access from airports and rail routes including the TGV to Beziers, and just 3 kilometres from exit 34 of the main east/west A9(E15) Languedocienne autoroute, St Thibéry is just perfectly situated for exploring the Languedoc. Come and enjoy our gourmet seafood, superb local wines, farmers' markets and fresh produce, and relaxing in the garden or on the beach. There is free parking nearby.

Quiet, relaxing --- a true experience of S France

Left on 12/09/2012 for a stay in June 2010

We stayed at Maison Dixon for 2 weeks in June 2012. We had the smallest of 3 available apartments, which was quite adequate for our needs. This apartment (unlike the other 2) was on the ground floor so we had immediate access to a quiet, secluded courtyard where we ate our meals and enjoyed our leisure time. Saint-Thibery is a very small, tranquil village which allows the traveller to get a sense of S. France living which is not the usual tourist scene. Among the best features of Maison Dixon is its location -- within easy driving distance (15-20 minutes)of the Mediterranean and numerous interesting small towns with lots to do and see. Many other well known tourist locales (eg Carcassone) are within a 2-3 hour drive. Finally, the hosts of Maison Dixon were very friendly and helpful (they will provide driving tours on request) -- we enjoyed their company and hope to join them again.

Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in July 2010

Our stay at MaisonDixon was all it was advertised to be and more. History, culture, fine food and wine, marvellous beaches, ease of travel, quiet comfortable accomodations: St. Thibery and the Languedoc have it all. Enjoyed every minute.

      St Thibery

Left on 11/23/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We loved our week in St Thibery! The history and beauty of the area was spectacular. It is quite close to Carcassonne and other historic sites in Southern France, also the lovely Mediterranean beaches. The apartment was clean and perfect for our needs even though the kitchen was small. It is on the 2nd floor so be prepared to carry suitcases up a narrow winding staircase.
Our hosts, Brian and Sharon were terrific. When one of our party was ill, they went out of their way to help us.
We would go back again and recommend it very highly to anyone interested in seeing lovely southern France. We wish we had stayed longer.

Thank you Jennifer, it was lovely to meet you and your friends and we are happy that you enjoyed your stay in our delightful part of the world. Unfortunately we don't have the room to enlarge our 300 year old stairway and recognize it may be a problem for some, but we are always willing to help carry the bags. We hope to see you again.
Thanks again for your visit to Maison Dixon, Sharon and Bryan

A second wonderful stay at Maison Dixon

Left on 11/23/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We spent a week at Maison Dixon in august on a return visit following a two week stay in 2010. Sadly the apartment was only free for one week otherwise we would have enjoyed our usual two weeks in St. Thibery. Bryan and Sharon are most welcoming, ensuring that you enjoy the best of the region, offering help when needed but not encroaching on your privacy. The apartment on the top floor of the house is a delight, typically French, and with all the facilities you could ask for, and the beautiful terrace is the icing on the cake! The village is small and friendly with an excellent Boulangerie and the annual Jazz Festival in august is not to be missed. There is so much to do in the region and you will find lots of information in the apartment.

A beautiful retreat in the centre of a gorgeous Medieval village

Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The apartment was everything I had hoped for and more - pure rustic French charm in the centre of a beautifully quaint village. It was so nice to return after the relative bustle of the beaches to the peace and quiet of our temporary home. The rooms were spotless, well-equipped and with all the basics supplied. Clean sheets and towels were provided after our first week, which was great. Although relatively compact, the apartment was everything we needed for our stay. The owners were on site and were very welcoming and helpful and were very keen to make sure that we had everything we needed. We arrived on the eve of the village's jazz festival, an amazing weekend of nighttime music when hundreds (possibly thousands) of French music lovers sat at long tables eating tapas and drinking the local wine. I had come to the south of France with my partner and my two boys (aged 11 and 14) for the beaches and the sun. The weather was amazing and we found some great beaches less than a half hour drive from the apartment. Every morning, when I walked to buy my baguettes from the local boulangerie, I thought I was in heaven. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the area, too. I didn't want to leave, and now home I am just dreaming of going back!

Thank you Alison for your lovely and so positive review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in the "real South of France" and hope you will come again to enjoy the sunshine and the garden at Maison Dixon. We very much enjoyed visiting with you and your family when you had breakfast in the garden. We haven't been able to find room for a regular oven in the small kitchen, however I will prove better instructions for use of the the convection/microwave which does work quite well as a regular oven. Thanks again, Sharon and Bryan
