We spent the end of april here and the location was perfect. We didn't use our car until it was time to go home. We walked to all of the Salem attractions and took the train for a wonderful day in Boston. The apartment was clean and the bed was extremly comfortable. We even enjoyed blueberry muffins left for us by the owner, what a nice jesture. We had a very positive expierience and will use again if available.

It was our first trip to Salem and we didnt want to stay in a hotel so we decided to try our luck at renting. After looking at all the reviews this was the place we went with. We arrived really late the first night due to traffic and frequent stops(came from Canada) and the place was easy to find. The parking was right out front, but the next morning discoverd a sign on the front enterance way stating that parking was temporaily moved to a parking lot which was easy to find via gps. The apartment itself was bright, clean and cozy. It was very quiet and within walking distance to everything! We never had to use our car once except to travel to Maine and the Walmart. Right around the corner there was a 7 11 and the opposite corner had a Dunkin Donuts. The building was secure and we didnt hear any noise when we slept. The stairs were sometimes a bit of a workout after coming home from a long day of walking but other than that the place and great! Also a detailed description of the apartment services were left and some brochures which were helpful. A detailed description of restaurants and tours, and questions were answered promptly. I highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a convenient place to stay.

This condo was in a great location. We walked to everything in historical Salem. The only drawback was the three flights of steps. It would be okay for a younger couple. It doesn't have wifi but there is a dunkin donuts at the end of the block with wifi.

we now have wireless internet. There is no elevator but after a few stairs to reach the the 1st floor from the main entrance there are 2 flights of stairs to reach the 3rd floor. It's a common mistake (that I have made myself) to say that there are 3 flights of stairs to reach the 3rd floor when there are 2, and to say there are 2 flights of stairs to reach the 2nd floor when there is 1. It's on the top floor so the view and having no one above you can make the stairs worth the walk. Still we would not recommend it to anyone who would see the stairs as a challenge.

Last year we celebrated our anniversary traveling Plymouth, Foxborough (Patriots vs. Jets :) , Marblehead, and Salem. We're thankful to have found this rental listing. Great owners. Arthur was personable and helpful with all from booking to providing an easy arrival from our hometown of Odessa,TX. We found the apartment location to be ideal! We loved all the personal touches, by the owners, for our convenience including maps, directions, and brochures. The rental was cozy and neat..a nice lil home away from home. We did purchase a hair dryer just down the street. We were ecstatic after realizing all within walking distance. Only steps away, we enjoyed several iced coffees at the Dunkin Donuts each morn before embarking further. We fell in love with Salem. An overall wonderful and memorable experience, so much so we already have reservations set for this year. Great price. Highly recommend! Sincerely, Chad and Shawna

Plymouth, MinnesotaAbsolutely Great!

My wife and I spent three nights here in June 2011 on our honeymoon. The owner was always very easy to contact, he responded extremely quickly and even set out a bottle of champagne for us in light of getting recently married! The apartment's locations is absolutely perfect! It is within walking distance of everything in Salem! There are great restaurants nearby--the owner even provides a list of some of his favorites. We check a few of them out and agreed that they were very good places to eat! My wife and I were surprised by Salem itself. We expected a tourist town with nothing but shops to make $$$ off of the witch trials, but found that the town has some great small shops, places to eat, views of the coastline, and interesting spots to walk. So Salem can be a place for tourists or for the casual traveler looking for other things to do.
Here are a few highlights about the apartment:
-3rd night of rent free!
-Very friendly owners
-Excellent location
-Studio size apartment with kitchen
-Includes TV with cable
-Very clean
-Full size bathroom with shower in bathtub
-More than enough linens and towels provided
-Laundry washer and dryer accessible within apartment building
-Free parking with the owners parking pass across the street at the post office parking lot
-5-10 minute walk from nearly every great restaurant in Salem
-Short drive away from Gloucester and Rockport
-Short drive from Logan International airport in Boston
-Owner provides driving directions to get from Logan airport to the apartment
I only have one minor suggestion, and it is so minor it is almost not worth mentioning. My wife and I loved the apartment as a place to be able to hang out in after a full day on the town. One thing that would have been nice is to have a DVD player in the apartment. We had brought a few movies with us to be able to watch when relaxing on our trip so it would have been an extra convenience to have a DVD player in the apartment. As I said though, this is only a small thing that would have just enhanced an already perfect stay!
One other thing: people have commented on the walk up the stairs. For any able bodied person, it will be no problem. If you plan on moving in a few months worth of luggage you may get a little tired running up and down the stairs, but for able bodied travelers with only one or two bags each, it shouldn't be a problem. I'm also not sure if there is an elevator in the building. There may be, but you would have to ask the owner. For most people though, as I said, this will not be a problem at all!
If you are looking for a very convenient, clean, studio apartment to stay at in Salem, this is the place to be! -

We rented this room for Halloween weekend and it was absolutely perfect. No need to drive anywhere as the condo was close to everything. We were able to walk straight to Essex Street, the train station, and the waterfront area easily. The room itself was great with plenty of room, comfortable bed and couch. The owner was great and very easy to contact. He answered all the questions I had and even sent tourism brochures before our stay. Another reviewer mentioned the concrete stairs and I have to admit carrying luggage up 3 flights was not fun, but it was a non-issue any other time.
In summary, this place was awesome! I hope we can stay again in the future.Response from kathy S - 01/04/2011
Owner
Very often people refer to there being 3 flights of stairs to reach the 3rd floor when there are actually 2 flights of stairs and 2 flights of stairs to reach the 2nd floor when there is only one flight. In this case there are a few stairs that lead from street level to the 1st floor and then there are 2 (not 3) flights of stairs to reach the 3rd (top) floor. The view and the extra quiet of having no one above your unit should be worth it. Thank-You for considering Flipkey 164180.

Left on 07/07/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We stayed there for the very busy July 4 weekend and couldn't have asked for a better owner or better location. The condo is a 5 min walk from the main part of town and just 10 min walk to the waterfront with lots of shops and restaurants. It has one brand new queen bed and a sleeper sofa (which we didn't use but was very comfortable for sitting) . Air conditioner worked great too - kept the apartment well cooled without too much cold air. The apt is up 3 flights of cement stairs so be warned. Very quiet, never heard any noise. The bathroom is older but very clean. Plenty of paper supplies and tourist info, big screen TV and close to a 24 hr market!

This place was great! Very cozy, clean and conveniently located. It's located on the 3rd floor of building, and lots of stairs to get to it. Would not of been a problem if we didn't have so much luggage. There is no elevator to help out in those situations. That is the only down mark for this place. I would most definitely rent again, with less luggage!
