Seafront apartment overlooking Bahia de Todos os Santos in Salvador. Recently updated with new kitchen and bathroom (since reviews were written). Very difficult to find such a great place to stay for this price in Salvador. Veranda with incredible views of the ocean. Spacious clean one bedroomed apartment in the best location. Beside beaches, shops, restaurants. In front of the most famous city landmark - the lighthouse in Barra. Carnaval starts right in front of the building.

ClevelandMemorable view, great location, apartment as promised
Left on 05/07/2012 for a stay in April 2012
I rented the apartment overlooking the Farol Lighthouse and Bay of all Saints for two weeks, while enrolled in the Dialogo language school in Salvador. I couldn't imagine that the view would be as good as the photos on the website but it turned out to be all that and better. The apartment is very basic but clean, secure, and in good working order. The owner lives upstairs and is very responsive to any needs, speaks English and Portuguese, and is generous with good advice for getting around Salvador. The balcony overlooks the bay and also a busy street with regular bus service, taxi service, and a great walkway, yet the building has 24 hour security. It's not luxury but it was just what I was looking for. I hope to return.

Stayed in Ed's apartment recently and had an absolute blast! Eddie is a super nice guy who took care of everything we asked, and always gave us the best advice. The location of his place is absolutely the best for Carnaval, and if I am ever able to come back to Salvador, I will always be staying at Eddie's. Genuine top bloke, trustworthy, highly recommend. Cheers

After several years of traveling and working in Salvador, Bahia, in 2011/2012 I spent 2 months renting this apartment and it stands as an absolute gem in my experience of renting apartments abroad. It was fabulous, and was made even better by the owner Eddie, being so accommodating and helpful with my time there and my time in the apartment. From the early stages of my million questions about the apartment and booking Eddie was helpful, sending extra photos, advising me on all aspects of the apartment and area. When I arrived, he was there to meet me, help me get a phone and all the other bits and pieces required. In regular contact he made my time in Salvador great. The apartment suited all of my needs; it is roomy, has a good kitchen with oven and stove top, great view, lovely paintings, clean and is well equipped in terms of towels, linen, kitchen supplies. I managed to work daily in the apartment as Eddie set up internet access to assist me. The apartment location is great and locals living in the building very friendly. It was excellent value for money (right across from the beach, near the supermarket and corner stores, and restaurants), compared to many of the other places I have rented in Bahia. I would certainly rent this apartment again, and found it to be a safe and homely base for my time in Brazil.

Excellent location for enjoying the Barra district, safe and friendly. Amenities were minimal, could of used hot water, less thread bare linens, and greater cleanliness. Eddie McGee, however, was very hospitable and supportive, as were all the locals.

Owner
Apologies that the shower was without hot water, but the guest only informed me of this very shortly before leaving, and I immediately had it repaired.
Very light linens in this hot climate are much more appropriate than heavy cottons, but I would have been happy to supply if requested.
I am surprised by this review since the guest did not ask me about these basics, but was otherwise very demanding.
I must accept that she was not happy with the level of cleaning, but had she said this to me, I would immediately have sent the cleaners in again at no extra cost. I have a policy of taking just a small percentage of the rental prior to arrival, and the guest only pays once they arrive & confirm that they are happy with the apartment, in this case I don't understand why she simply did not take advantage of this option. -

Toronto, CanadaGreat location, great price, great owner, ...
Left on 01/11/2011 for a stay in January 2011
I stayed in the apartment for the first week of January 2011, and found it to be the perfect place to lodge in Salvador. The building is across the road from the beach, and Farol da Barra is just a 5 min walk. The historical district of Salvador is about 15 min by bus. There is a variety of shops, restaurants, a grocery store and a major mall in close proximity. There was 3 of us staying in the apartment, but it would comfortably fit 4 people. Eddie, the owner of the place, provided all the necessities and went above and beyond our expectations in his hospitality. The rental process and communication was very timely and hassle free. I would highly recommend staying at this place, and if I'm ever back to Salvador i'm definitely staying there again!

Sydney, AustraliaAwesome location - the heart of carnivale!!
Left on 12/03/2010 for a stay in February 2010
I stayed the apartment with 4 other friends last carnivale and was awesome!! The apartment block is right on the barra circuit opposite the ocean!! Short walk to many beaches, the famous light house, shops and more! There was also a travel agent right next door to organise your next stop! Eddie was really good to us and told us the ins and outs of carnivale. Way cheaper than any other apartment that other friends were staying in and believe it or not the hostels are way more expensive during carnivale! We loved every second of Salvador and I'd be more than happy to stay in the apartment again!!

Melbourne, AustraliaGreat apartment - Farol da Barra
Left on 11/15/2010 for a stay in February 2010
The apartment is in an ideal location - right at the start of the carnival route (so you are in the mix of it all, but can also get a little sleep...)! Plus it has amazing views from the balcony (looking down onto the start fo the route), and into the jungle/forrest from the bedroom. It was spotless, and had all the amenities we needed! Eddie (the owner) was incredibly hospitable - providing matresses / couch cushions / sheets for all 6 of us. And he didn't mind how many of us were staying there (unlike many other apartment owners during carnival). Plus was a very fair price for the week. This place is highly recommended, we all have fantastic memories from this week...
