Barra neighborhood is a history lover's paradise. It's the landing site of Italian explorer, Amerigo Vespucci, Circa 1501, who sailed for Portugal and whose name became used for the New World, South and later North America. The historic lighthouse "Farol Da Barra" is a world class Maritime Museum as well as location for some of the biggest festivals and concerts in Brazil; this is where the ocean becomes the Bay of All Saints, where the Forts Santa Maria and Fort São Diogo bookend the calm waters of Porto da Barra Beach. Hidden just around the corner is Yacht Club of Bahia, with world class dining and views of sunset on the bay. Just a bus or taxi ride away to Pelorinho, the old town center, is a UNESCO world heritage site. It's an eminent example of Renaissance urban town planning adapted to a colonial site. The city became a cultural and racial blend of European, American Indian and African heritage. Today the local neighborhood is known for year round beach life, Shopping at the nearby mall, Carnival, New Year's and spontaneous celebrations. It's a combination of all things Brazilian.

  I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Salvador and this apartment was the perfect place to base all my activities out of. I loved being just two blocks from the beach and the ocean views from the bedroom and living room. Spent a lot of time on the balcony relaxing in the hammock as I watched the waves roll in. Definite plus to have internet! Also, the taxi stand right outside the building made getting around easy. It was great being in the heart of Barra and, being on an upper floor, having a bird's eye view of all the goings on. I felt I got great value for my money and would definitely stay here again.
