The guest quarters looks out on a peaceful garden and is in a quiet residential area within walking distance to the town of San Anselmo..Twin bed and double bed nicely separated..pretty french windows and doors..old fashioned charm..complete kitchen and separate entrance.. Pvt. bath with shower..Hot Tub avail. deck and dedicated off-street parking..Host runs a referral agency with homestays through out Marin so if San Anselmo doesn't suit many other options in Marin avail. Tiburon, Mill Valley, Fairfax

San Anselmo is a great small town..lots of excellent coffee houses and fine restaurants WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE...guests often come to attend workshops at the nearby seminary or to visit relatives in town...ferry to S. F. about 4 miles away in Larkspur and a great drive west towards Pt. Reyes is recommended because you meander thru small towns and redwood forests ...one can return thru Stinson beach and Mill Valley and then zip home by freeway completing the scenic loop..San Anselmo is only 17 mi. North of San Francisco and 1 hour to the wine country (Sonoma or Healdsburg are particularly nice)

Mill Valley CARetreat in garden setting in town of San anselmo
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The first thing we noticed when we parked our car is the beautiful view of hills and trees. Our little apartment in the downstairs of this multilevel house stays cool and comfortable even on hot days. It truly feels like a retreat. It has a full kitchen. Our hostess is friendly, but we don't see much of her unless we want to, so it's private, too. She surprised us with fresh homemade scones one day, and she freely offers advice and assistance if needed. There's free internet access. If you're lucky, sometimes during the day you'll hear truly beautiful live cello and piano music played by our host in the house above. We have our own little deck with a table, so we can eat outside. The weather has been suitable for outdoor activities the entire time we've been here. There's a small tv we haven't even tried out yet, the bed is extremely comfortable, and it has real wood panelling. It's sort of like being in a little mountain retreat or treehouse. It's like an old-fashioned cabin in a sweet way. I walked to town one day and it took only a few minutes. The town has fun little shops and some excellent restaurants. People in San anselmo are friendly. The town has a village feeling. We recommend this place.
