The six of us had a wonderful time at the villa. It was everything that was mentioned on the RentVillas site and so much more. Elizabeth was a gracious hostess and was there whenever we needed her. The property was beautiful and the villa itself was a dream come true for all of us.
The view from our villa was exquisite. The spacious rooms and the lovely décor were wonderful.
The area was a wonder for the eyes! The rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, and other villas were breathtaking. Tuscany is a place that can be revisited time and again. We want to plant cypress trees and lemon trees back home just to remind us of the beauty we experienced. -

Wonderful! All the information on the RentVillas web site was accurate. The best thing about the villa is that it was located in such a great area...away from all the big cities, but near lots of smaller towns. There was easy access by train to the larger ones.
The peace, quiet, and typical Tuscan scenery from the outdoor patio. We spent every evening eating, sipping wine, and reviewing our day.

The views were absolutely stunning. We loved the covered porch in the back of the property. It was perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine. The overall size of the villa was also excellent from the bedrooms to the living room to the kitchen.

It was fabulous. The villa was even better than we had hoped.
Hard to say because it was so nice. I guess we really appreciated the spaciousness as there were 7 adults and we all felt like we had plenty of room. The bedrooms were huge, the bathrooms magnificent. The owners really thought of every detail to include in a great book that explained many of the appliances, as well as some of the furnishings. The pool was another favorite since it was extremely hot and we spent time there almost every day.
Proximity to things, such as towns we wanted to visit like Siena, San Gimignano, Florence, plus good restaurants and the grocery store. -

Left on 07/23/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Moving into Villa Certaldo was marked by a warm welcome from our hosts, ohhh's and ahhh's from each of us as we moved from room to room, and the immediate sense that we were "home." That feeling only grew and was enhanced as, each day, Aldinolfo (whom we called the Count) checked in on us, garden kittens entertained us, and we swam in the luxurious pool. Leaving to visit San Gimignano and Volterra was not easy since staying "home" was just so inviting. Hiking in the "preserve", shopping daily at the market , cooking and eating together on the terrance, eating at excellent Certaldo restaurants, and being "natives" was invigorating. At the market and in the restaurants people seemed to love exchanging with us. Certainly, we loved exchanging with them.
Villa Certaldo is a glorious property, owned by people who know how to make one feel comfortable, welcome, and cared for.
The terrace overlooking the Tuscan vista, the pool, the comfortable beds, the large and well equipped marble bathrooms, the quiet in the house, the well equipped laundry, the beautiful antiques coupled with intriguing art work--we loved it all.
Directions for operating all appliances were clear; tips on market days, places to visit, and how to seek help were also well organized and clear. The kitchen, bathrooms and modern conveniences, including internet access and DVD's, were all excellent. We had packed according to RentVillas' suggestions for what to bring but needed nothing except a peppermill, which we bought and donated to the kitchen. We made cappuccino every morning, cooked eloquent meals, and used our iPad constantly.
The proximity to the neighboring villa rental, Villa Sella, was problematic. For two days, the noise from the family and guests was utterly annoying. Smoke from their barbecue made it impossible for us to stay on the terrace--and those evenings were hot and uncomfortable inside.
Our visits to Volterra and San Gimignano were well worth the effort to leave the peace of the villa and travel out of Certaldo. The markets and local restaurants were our favorites. -

This was a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend Villa Certaldo to my friends or anyone who asked.
The property was amazing, the pool was a must and much used by us. What I liked best about the property was the view, second to none. Heaven.
Just one small complaint - the coffee maker needs to be replaced for a bigger, more modern one. There were six of us and we all wanted coffee first thing in the mornings but had to wait patiently for the little plastic coffee maker to do it's magic.
Everything. Very pretty, lush, and green, the most beautiful trees, lots of nice lanes to walk. Lots of views to photograph. -

Surpassing the brilliant location, historical beauty, immaculate, luxurious and spacious home, was the far reaching hospitality provided by Elizabeth. Local and regional information including maps were greatly appreciated. Star rating for this villa exceeds the limit!
The view, the villa design and history, the provided information/maps, and the helpful hospitality of our property manager, Elizabeth
Dogs barking at night sometimes kept us awake.
We liked being able to hop on the provided bikes and ride into Certaldo. It's a great central location to make home base in order to drive to nearby sites. Nice walking paths nearby, and the views surrounding the villa were breathtaking! -

We had a fantastic experience--both at the house and on excursions in the region.
Fantastic view from the veranda. Very nicely decorated house. One major reason we chose it was that it had three almost equal-sized bedrooms--important when three couples are traveling together. Elizabeth was the most charming, delightful, and helpful hostess. Went beyond call of duty when we had parking tickets which needed to get paid the day we left--and she went in the morning to the Post Office to do so for us! Forever grateful!
Nothing.
The landscape is, of course, beautiful--and can be enjoyed every day from the veranda in particular. We did not walk or drive much in the area otherwise--drove mostly to near and far towns like Sienna, Assisi, Cortona, etc. -

It was a wonderful experience. The villa is beautiful, with a fantastic view, a great place to hang out as well as a base for day trips around the countryside.
We have never stayed in a rental property before that was so well equipped. As soon as we thought of something we needed, we would find it, as well as many things we hadn't even thought of like coolers and blue ice packs in the freezer, for bringing home prosciutto and cheese! Elizabeth was great, friendly and always ready to help with anything. And the view...was just fantastic!
We didn't realize that there is another rental villa right next door, as in really close. When we sat outside and the neighbours sat outside, it was a bit intrusive. Also, that villa has a pool, so we got to hear lots of kid swimming noises as well. Nothing obnoxious, but when we rented a villa we were assuming more of an isolated stand-alone house.
Certaldo is a great town, not touristy at all--so no giant tour buses or souvenir stands--but very friendly, and with everything we needed.
Certaldo Alto is a scenic little medieval village on the hill with great restaurants.
It is also really easy to get to many other places, including both Florence and Siena. -

Poetic, joyful, enriching, fun, relaxing, inspiring, perfect!
Full of wine, good friends, adventures, food, and great memories.
Everything. From the hostess, Elizabeth to the view, the house, the neighborhood, the location, the rooms, the cats on the porch, the lemons in the yard, the internet connection, the complete feeling that we were in a house that was ours for a week and whatever we needed or had concerns about would be addressed and that it was a joy to have us there.
We had to leave. There is nothing I did not like about this fantastic property. The history and the improvements made from the "olden days" were fabulous.
Everything was close. The town of Certaldo was great. Certaldo Alto was a great last day adventure. The drives to our day trips were just right. -

Amazing! The villa was spacious, homey, clean and just plain beautiful. I felt right at home from the first night. We had Giusepina and her son come in and cook my birthday dinner and oh my goodness!!!! I wish I would have booked them more nights! I DID NOT WANT TO COME BACK!! My entire stay was amazing!
I loved the view and the peacefulness. It was incredible!

We thoroughly our stay at the Villa Certaldo. The mornings started with the mist rising from the valley. Although the weather was chilly in late October, the fire in the fireplace kept us toasty after a day of seeing the sights. Volterra, Siena, Firenze and the town of Certaldo itself. We found two grocery stores along with smaller shops. The villa itself was comfortable, roomy and the kitchen well equipped.
The peace and quiet in the surroundings after the bustle of the towns we visited. The Owner was very accommodating, helpful and cheery.
Our guests from Indonesia were a little too chilly, but survived.
There were so many interesting places to visit. We wished we had taken two weeks so we could explore more. -

Absolutely the very best experience of our lifetime. We were greeted by our very warm and gracious hostess of the villa, Elizabeth. The villa should be described as not only elegant, but warm and inviting. Elizabeth has thought of every detail a guest could possibly need.
The views! Unbelievable! We spent every available moment out on the loggia to eat, drink and just take in the beauty. It was almost surreal! Our hostess! Elizabeth was fantastic - helpful, fun, knowledgeable about the history of her villa oh, by the way -her wonderful, humble husband is a descendant of the Medici family. She was always available 24/7 via her cell if we needed her for anything. A true delight. One gets immediately attached to her - I really miss her and her family.
The water. Big deal (I'm being sarcastic). It was very clean - just full of minerals that we are not use to tasting.
The people! We had so many experiences meeting strangers that embraced us as if we were family or close friends. We had heard that the people were like this, but to experience it is another story. Lovely, lovely human beings. -

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Certaldo. Elizabeth was an absolute delight and such a help when it came to the walk through and explanation of everything.
I have rented two other homes in the area and this was by far the best. Our stay in the Villa will have lasting memories for years and I would not hesitate to recommend the villa for anyone staying in the Tuscan area, including friends of ours who plan to go over within the next year or so. It was a pleasure dealing the Rent Villas and your professionalism was most appreciated. Thanks again for all your help!
Much thought was given to guests' comfort and the amenities were top-notch.
Fabulous large bedrooms and bathrooms, especially for Europe which is not always the case. Great working kitchen as well.
The views were spectacular and the sound of the church bells throughout the Tuscan Hills so peaceful. -

The villa and surrounding area were breathtaking and far exceeded our very high expectations. Elizabeth was so amazing, and we loved her! She took very good care of us and that meant so much to me.
It would be impossible to say, as everything was perfect. We absolutely loved relaxing on the terrace at the end of the day, looking out over the very beautiful countryside. It was so quiet in the evenings, and the faint sounds of nature lulled us into a wonderfully tranquil frame of mind. The kitchen was fabulous, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were so spacious and comfortable. I had looked at over 600 villas when planning this trip, and Villa Certaldo came out on top just from my research results. Experiencing it in person was even better, and again, far exceeded our expectations.
Absolutely nothing! It was all so perfect.

We would recommend this beautiful villa to others wishing to have a comfortable base for exploring Tuscany. The villa itself was spacious, well-furnished, and the location was excellent for sightseeing. Our hostess Elizabeth was gracious and eager to help us. Her son, Henry, 10 years old, joined us for pool time on a few occasions and he taught us some Italian words and pool games.
The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed the large swimming pool that was available for our use. The views from the villa out onto the adjacent vineyard were beautiful. One morning we awoke to a beautiful Tuscan sunrise, and looked out to see a number of hot air balloons drifting across the nearby fields - what a sight! The internet connectivity at the villa was good although a bit slow, but that is to be expected. The villa has a computer with internet and printer-scanner that we used, and it also has a wireless access point that we were able to use with the computer we brought with us. Cellular signals at the villa were strong.
The villa itself was a bit difficult to find. This was because we had directions to the villa only from one direction - and we were coming from a different direction. When we had trouble, we called the property owner and she drove a few miles to meet us and usher us in.
From this base we found it easy to make day-trips to Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, and of course the town of Certaldo which was just down the road. All of these were fantastic places to visit, and getting there via our rental car or local train was simple. -

The villa itself was just glorious, welcoming and very comfortable for three couples. Covered porch with table for 6 perfect for any rainy times. The location to get to so many hill towns is a real plus.
That it wasn't walkable to a town. BUT we wouldn't have had the peaceful countryside to look at if it were closer to a town.
We were so close to so many ancient towns to enjoy within an easy ride. -

There are very few moments in life that anyone can describe as magical but both of us use "magical experience" to describe Villa Certaldo. From the property vistas to the well appointed kitchen and Elizabeth's welcoming presence our experience will be treasured for a lifetime.
The classic Tuscan vistas one expects to find were carefully framed to be enjoyed inside or out.
The care and historic pride visible in every architectural and interior design detail.
The warm and welcoming hospitality offered by Elizabeth and her extended family.
The property exceeded every expectation.
The location of the property allows for daily jaunts through Chianti country to the west, the Italian Riveria to the east, Florence to the north and Siena to the south. However within 30 minutes are the charming ancient towns of Certaldo Alto, San Gimignano and Monteriggioni. -

Our overall experience was beautiful. The villa was just as it was pictured on the website--the views were magnificent and the accommodations very comfortable and up-to-date. Our location was conveniently located to many of the must see towns in the Tuscany area. Elizabeth was a charming and gracious hostess and was so very helpful to us. Overall, it was a very memorable experience.
The scenery from our Villa was like a Tuscany countryside painting and the convenient location to the town of Certaldo was great. The Villa was in excellent condition with many amenities. It was immaculate. The kitchen had all appliances and every convenience available which we did not expect in Italy.
The only improvement I can see is if there was more light in the bathrooms for applying make-up. Also if there were written instructions in English for the washer-dryer, we wouldn't have had to bother Elizabeth about them!
As i said before, the scenery was lovely, vineyards so picturesque and serene. There were lovely little towns not to far away. Certaldo and Certaldo Alto were charming. Also, many nice restaurants within 10-15 minutes of the Villa as well as grocery stores. -

Villa Certaldo is such a wonderful place to stay, with warm, helpful hosts, a fascinating history, every amenity one could want and fabulous views of the Tuscan countryside. We were so happy there that we wished we could have stayed longer. Elizabeth, the wife of the owner was so ready to help with anything that we needed and would come at a moment's notice whenever we called.
We loved how beautifully equipped the villa kitchen was and how conveniently located the villa was to all the points of interest in Tuscany. We were close enough to take day trips to Siena, Volterra, Cortona, Pienza and all points in between. If we had had the time, we could have driven to Cinque Terre, Florence, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano Arezzo. It was perfect!
The lighting in the bathrooms was very dim and the beds were hard.
The views from our terrace were just beautiful and the country road outside the villa was made for walking, pretty, peaceful and quiet with a view of San Gimignano in the distance. There was a very good restaurant called "Wilma" a few kilometers down the road -

Terrific from beginning to end - and everything in between.
The views, the modern conveniences, the location, in Sciano, very close to Certaldo and walking distance to a 999 year old church. The pool was relaxing after a long day of sightseeing and walking. Both Elizabeth and her husband were there for us if we needed them, and would disappear so we could have our private time. Great balance. Lots of time to relax and unwind. The perfect vacation spot.
The bees that liked to hang with us at the pool.
The vineyards bursting with deep purple grapes, or green and red grapes the rows of olive trees, lemon and orange trees, the nearby church. The views from all the windows, but especially, the upstairs bedroom overlooking the valley was spectacular. The local pizza place was good, friendly and relaxing. Everyone was friendly and helpful. -

Villa Certaldo was lovely in every way. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the property, the home is very well maintained, it has large screened windows with shutters and doors that open wide to the night air. The swimming pool was marvelous and a cool respite from sunny, hot touring days.
We most enjoyed the use of the pool and eating wonderful fresh Tuscan food in our own dining room.
The beds were not as comfortable as we would have liked.
The area was very scenic, with views of San Gimignano - we could see farmers plowing their fields, we could smell the lovely fresh trees and breezes -- it was very beautiful. -

Too short of a vacation! It was one of the best and most memorable experiences of my life. I would not only recommend this to any of my friends, but I absolutely plan to come back.
Everything was perfect, but the views of the Tuscan countryside from the property were my favorite thing. It was so beautiful that it almost seemed fake.
Having to leave.
Everything was so peaceful and relaxing. The location was perfect for taking day trips to the many small Tuscan towns. Plus there were nice restaurants and grocery stores just a short drive from the property. -

Very happy with the accommodation, the welcome and surrounding area.
The size of the rooms, the views and the pool!
The owner's dogs barking a lot in the night affected our bedroom but not the others so much.
Proximity to interesting towns, picturesque vistas - fields of sunflowers. -

Excellent. We rented the villa for the month of June. Friends and family joined us at different times. Everyone enjoyed the villa very much. Elizabeth was always helpful.
it met all our expectations.
The villa was well designed with quality furnishings and was very comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were large. Good kitchen. We enjoyed the large pool on hot days. You shared the pool with the owners but we enjoyed the interaction. Our grandchildren enjoyed playing with Henry and his friends. Particularly useful were the computer, the cell phone and the espresso machine. We really appreciated these features.
Most of the bicycles were not in usable condition. We were looking forward to cycling given the beautiful scenery so were disappointed that only one bicycle was fully functional. We acquired a lot of mosquito bites.
The mattresses should be upgraded.
The views from the patio were superb. We ate most of our meals there bugs permitting. The property is very well situated. Certaldo is only a few kms away and has restaurants, a supermarket, a great bakery, Forno Moderno, gelato shop, and everything else you need. There are restaurants in Certaldo Alto. The kids enjoyed the funicular ride. We went to the weekly markets in Poggibonsi and Certaldo for fruits and vegetables. There are also stalls selling cheese and meat. Half of these markets are devoted to selling clothes. Florence, Siena, Pisa are only a short car drive away from the villa. You can catch the train at Certaldo with its excellent connections to all these towns and beyond. We preferred the train to driving to Florence in particular. -

It was wonderful!
Peaceful location, quiet, but close to many places we wanted to see.
Nothing---it was absolutely perfect.
The town of Certaldo was charming. We attended a Medieval dinner in the city center that was memorable and a lot of fun. We enjoyed the local pizza restaurant and at Patricia's recommendation, picked up food from a small grocery store in Certaldo---wonderful! -

Absolutely outstanding! We didn't want to leave! It was a pleasure to be at the villa from the moment we got there!
The outstanding location, the view, the decor, and of course, Elizabeth...she is a wonderful, amazing hostess!
The beds were a bit too firm for our North American liking, and there could have been more counter space in the bathrooms to place toiletries on and full length mirrors.
The view, peace and quiet! -

It was wonderful, relaxing and comfortable at the villa. The views around every curve in the road are breath-taking. The driving on those narrow roads is scary and exhilarating at the same time. The food and the wine are really good and the people are friendly and tolerant of our limited Italian.
The bathrooms that are beautifully tiled and modern, the kitchen straight out of an IKEA catalogue, the lemon trees, rosemary, thyme all available to us and of course the wonderful views of the surrounding landscape.
The villa is equipped with a computer which only offered dial-up internet service however the day we left, Elizabeth had arranged for high-speed installation. We were just a week early.
The proximity to surrounding towns which made it easy to do day trips and still come back to the villa in plenty of time to enjoy the pool, rest and get ready for the evening meal. -

This was our second visit to this property, and it was again a wonderful experience.
Everything--comfort, beauty, "the little things" soap for the laundry room, computer, espresso machine.
The high cost of heating surcharge came as very much a shock.
Day trips to San Gimignano, Siena, the coast. We loved taking a cooking class from Organic Tuscany. -

Villa Certaldo exceeded our expectations in every way. The owner was extremely welcoming, the views were spectacular, the bedrooms and bathrooms were fabulous, the kitchen was just great. The location of the villa is great and it is short scenic drives to most of the surrounding towns and sights.
The villa is very welcoming to kids. The owner even have toys and entertainment for the kids it sure improves ones travelling experience when the kids feel welcome, too.
The Villa is just so beautiful and the owner really had all our needs covered - Internet, and pay-as-you-go cell phone, laundry facilities, many travel books to assist us in our sightseeing... the list is really never ending.
There is really nothing that we did not like.
We went to see so many little towns in the surrounding area and loved it all. We went to Siena, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Volterra, Arezzo - to name a few. The villa is also just a short drive from grocery stores. The owner was nice enough to have the locations of the grocery stores and their favorite restaurants printed out for us. -

Our two week stay at Villa Certaldo was perfect in every way. We found it hard to leave during the day for our excursions because we enjoyed being in the villa so much!
Everything ... the peacefulness and beauty of the setting, the amazing views, the beautifully restored home. Elizabeth, the owner, was such a treat! So helpful, too. We loved the animals, too - 2 great dogs and a horse, too!
I honestly can't think of one negative thing to say.

Well exceeded our expectations!
The view from the loggia was spectacular! We enjoyed starting our day with breakfast on the porch watching the sun rise and the mist lifting from the low areas of the surrounding farms. We also had many great dinners on the porch too. What a lovely way to start and end a day and this will be a lasting memory. We also thoroughly enjoyed walking on the trails through the owners preserve. And we enjoyed the pool! There was much to like about Villa Certaldo!
Only that we had to leave!
Very convenient location--a grocery store within easy driving distance, good local restaurants, and easy to get to other parts of Tuscany. -

The overall experience was wonderful. The property was very nice and well appointed. We were very pleased with all aspects of the property, the location and the responsiveness of the owner.
Where do I start? As I mentioned the home itself is very nicely designed and furnished. The washer and dryer, Internet access, and cable TV (we were able to watch the Olympics!) were all pleasant surprises. The owner also provided a loaner cell phone for our use. But we did not need it.
Cannot think of anything.
We enjoyed the sounds and feel of the Tuscany countryside. Often we awoke to the sounds of early morning birds or a nearby farmer tending his orchard on his tractor. It was a nice way to wake up in the morning. -

Surpassed our expectations. The owner is a very warm and lovely hostess, willing to help her guests at a moment's notice. Although an American by birth, she has apparently immersed herself in the Italian lifestyle, providing us with an Italian experience without the language and cultural barriers. She offered numerous suggestions on places to go and things to do. She is truly a gem.
Everything! It offers breathtaking views of the rolling hillsides, the peace that comes with country living, modern conveniences while maintaining the essence of an Italian villa, it is centrally local to so many wonderful towns, and it offered enough space so that six of us could comfortably stay together. I could go on and on.
That we had to leave after only one week.
The wonderfully scenic vineyards that surrounded the property, as well as all the small "monte" towns within an hour's drive. -

We had a fantastic time! The villa was quite obviously designed to accomodate U. S. visitors who are used to screens, ceiling fans, dishwashers, laundry facilities and more! So we got to enjoy the best of both worlds.
The beautiful view of the Italian countryside from our porch and the screens on the windows.
Dogs barking at night from nearby residences and the early morning tractor on the neighboring farm. However, thanks to the ceiling fans, we were able to shut the bedroom windows to mitigate this noise and sleep in a little.
The beautiful countryside and relatively easy access by car to Florence and Siena for big city touring. -

Location, gracious hostess, view, cleanliness and willingness to assist in any way. The view was the picture postcard image one has of Tuscany.
It was as near to perfection as I expect to find on earth. Really, I would have great difficulty coming up with any negative. Suggestion: Make sure the Guest Commentary Book is easily seen and not "hidden" on a shelf.

We loved our stay at this villa. It was perfect for 6 people in 3 bedrooms, each with their own en suite bathroom. The owner-manager, Elizabeth, was very helpful, informative, and gracious. She and her husband have renovated and added on to this old farmhouse to create a modern Tuscan villa, with North American conveniences. Great design, details, and eye for decorating. The location near the small town of Certaldo was also good close enough to services and highways to major cities, but villa was in a peaceful, rural setting.
The views of the Tuscan countryside and the sounds and peace of that countryside.
Poor bathroom lighting.

The owner played a huge role in our enjoyment of the villa. She was so nice and caring. She went above and beyond in her availability for our questions and needs. This was critical for us because having children could have made our trip much harder. She really helped make everything just wonderful, despite our lost luggage! Even, called a pediatrician when our kids got sick....she was/is a blessing to our trip and we are very, very grateful to her and her husband and their wonderful home. We absolutely LOVED being there.
How do I narrow it down? Everything was impeccable!! However, I guess it was the views and surroundings. Just amazing, every morning. To the basics...all the extras, like toys, highchair, small table, were perfect for our children and so important. The kitchen was great, access to computer, comfortable living room, gorgeous bathrooms, amazing bedrooms and so much space, and very, very clean. Cannot say enough about the property. Another huge appreciation...very good washing machine and DRYER. This was pertinent with children and especially since Air France lost 2 of our bags for 5 days.
The beds were a bit too hard for my preference.
The town of Certaldo was big enough to explore and small enough so that it was easy with our children. The 'funiculare' was fun for us and the children and we were able to explore Certaldo Alto, another beautiful tiny walking village. Very important that Certaldo has a grocery store, pharmacies, bars, restaurants, clothing shops, etc....all the necessities and then some. We found playgrounds too...oh, yes, train station and information center was great. -

My wife and I really enjoyed the view. Overlooking the Tuscan Hills, San Gimignano with all the surrounding vineyards.
The beds were not up to the quality that we are used to, but we figured that is the way it is in Europe. We also did not like the heating cost. It was in the 40's and we needed the heat on while in the villa.
The surrounding area was basically vineyards and wooded areas. The pastures and woods contained many wildlife, especially pheasants. Walking down the country road was a great experience. -

This is an excellent villa for three couples traveling together. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, there are sufficient private spaces for privacy when needed, and there is even a computer with Internet access to assure that resource is available without needing to add the PC to your luggage. The owner has anticipated every need and is ready to help in any way. Her architect husband has done a fantastic job in the planning of the renovation, and the villa shines as an example of thoughtful and tasteful renewal of an home with a history.
Everything was first class plus. The care with which this villa was designed and is equipped caters to demanding Americans abroad. From the excellently equipped and furnished kitchen to the luxurious baths the house is well designed. The dining room window was fantastic---what a view and perfectly positioned for the diners to all enjoy. The loggia was a fantastic spot for reading. It is impossible to just one thing as the item we enjoyed most.
Nothing--- it was beautiful, clean, well equipped and had gorgeous views. Pictures do not capture how fine this rental property is. Even though there is another rental on the property and the villa is attached to the owner's home, we never felt any lack of privacy.
Views, views and views! The property was located in the midst of vineyards and rolling hills, with vistas from every window. The location was super for day trips, whether by train or by car. Certaldo has an upper village--a walled town where Boccacio was born, and lived. This was a plus because we were there during the annual festival with a parade through town celebrating his works. Really fun. -

The property is perfect for three couples. It is centrally located, the decor is very pleasing, the room sizes are generous, and the American owner is very helpful. She wants all who stay in the villa to enjoy their vacation.
The property is perfect for three couples with three bedrooms and accompanying baths, plus there is a powder room downstairs. The view of the valley is spectacular. You can even see San Gimignano in the distance. The swimming pool was a plus and best of all is the owner. She was so helpful and caring. She made the villa perfect. There are also hair dryers. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. Everything you need is there.
I really have no negatives. The only thing I can possible think of is that the coffee pot took an hour to make coffee.
The villa is perfectly situated to explore the Tuscan hill towns. We went to San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, Florence, as well as some of the Chianti vineyards and towns. This property is a gem! We are recommending it to everyone. We had a fabulous time. It was a beautiful villa, tastefully decorated with wonderful amenities (American coffee maker, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, screens on all windows, swimming pool, bicycles). The location was perfect - with the town of Certaldo just a 5 minute drive away.
The keyholders/owners were wonderful. Elizabeth speaks English, and she is so very friendly and helpful. She would make suggestions to us regarding where to visit, where to eat, and would even call ahead for us and make dinner reservations. And our Travel Advisor who worked with us, was terrific. The very best thing about this villa is that the owners are on site and extremely helpful in all regards. Not only do they have excellent taste and a beautiful place that they are willing to share, but they are truly hospitable and go out of their way to make sure that all your needs are met, including making arrangements for an emergency dental repair I needed...driving with us to the dentist, making the introductions, and explaining to the dentist what the situation was. We can't wait to go back to this villa and recommend it highly.
Hard to pick one thing...everything was exceptional in regards to the villa itself, beautiful marble bathrooms, well equipped kitchen, comfortable living and dining room lovely outdoor porch area, wonderful bedrooms, very private. Gorgeous grounds and swimming pool.
The only thing that took a little getting used to is the fact that you are truly in the country, so in the morning the dogs in the valley set to greeting each other for a while. This is no fault of the owners, their dog is well trained and not a nuisance at all. Just the country sounds of animals, tractors and roosters. Far preferable to traffic, ambulances and vespas that you would get in any town or city!
Everything...easy drive to the closest town, Certaldo. Train ride in to Florence avoids the parking and traffic issues. Close to the Chianti region and many wonderful Tuscany towns to explore. -
