The house is located amidst the hills where the famous Chianti wine is produced. It is 16 km (about 10 miles) away from Florence . It is equipped with parking space and heating.

Villa Gentile is an authentic seventeenth-century countryside house. It is surrounded by a land rich in cultivations of vineyards and olive groves. The house is actually part of a farm where the Chianti wine and extra-virgin olive oil are produced. The villa, from above, dominates the vast valley where Florence lies. There is a 300-square-meter (about 3,229 square feet) private garden where there is also the swimming-pool. The owners live in a villa right next door, and they are available to assist you in case you need with all their discretion. .
Villa Gentile is a rustic house in stone and bricks which has kept itself intact through years of history, from past times up to our present moment. And it has not been restored to tourist purposes either. Even its interior and the division of rooms still maintain the original distribution. Original and age-old are also the beautiful floor in terracotta brick tiles and the vaulted ceilings with brick roof tiles and wooden joists.
On the ground floor there are the wine cellars, where the owners of the house still keep the wine in wooden barrels and the olive oil in old terracotta jars.
A large room on the ground floor, which features brick vaults and is divided by arches, once being used as a place to fix agricultural tools, has been turned into a pleasant covered living area to the guests of the villa. The room is decorated with age-old rural tools and furnished with a couch, armchairs, a table with chairs, and a barbecue. This room leads to the garden and the swimming-pool.
The residential area of the villa is on the first floor, and you can reach it after climbing a 13-step staircase.
All the rooms are spacious and furnished with family antique furniture. In one side you will have the living area, which consists of a living-room with an age-old fireplace in the middle. Near the fireplace you will find a couch, armchairs a satelite TV, and a double divan bed that sleeps two people. The living-room communicates with the kitchen, where there is also a dining table. The kitchen is equipped with a four-burner stove, an oven, a microwave, a kettle, an american style coffee maker, a fridge with freezer, and a dishwasher. There is also a washing machine in a laundry room.
You reach the bedrooms through a large room which is like an antechamber, furnished with a round table, chairs, and armchairs. The bedrooms are spacious. Two are double rooms while the other is a twin bedroom. They have windows overlooking the countryside. It is possible to add two additional sleeping places either in the bedrooms or in the antechamber.
There are two bathrooms. One is equipped with a bathtub and shower taps, while the other is a wet room (open shower area).
The garden and the swimming pool
In front of the house you will find a large fenced-in lawn reserved to the guests of the villa. Therein you will see an above-ground 9 x 5 meters (29.5 x 16.4 feet) swimming-pool, which is open from the first day of May until half October. Next to the swimming-pool, you will find umbrellas, deck chairs, tables, and chairs. A barbecue is available as well.
While in the garden and next to the swimming-pool, all you will see around is the splendid Tuscan countryside, with rows of vines and the silvery crowns of the olive trees …

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Loads of space in amongst beautiful Italian countryside, exactly what we hoped for. We are a family of four, two children aged 7 and 9 - the swimming pool was a big hit. We enjoyed relaxing at the villa but plenty of places to explore further afield - we used buses from the village - Florence a definite must to visit.
Alberto and Beatrice made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. They left us delicious wine and olive oil. We even got to see the grapes being pressed.
We will be returning!

We were a group of aussies seeking the quintessential Tuscan experience and we found it. A 200 year old stone house with heaps of room set among vineyards and olive groves
with a spectacular view of the rolling hills of Tuscany and hosts who enhanced our Italian experience. We will be return.

The villa is very very well located. She is very to Florence where we went with our own car (you need a GPS). The owners of the villa, Alberto and his wonderful wife and daughter Livia, welcomed us very warmly. Everything was excellent.

Our trip to Italy was in celebrate of our 25th wedding anniversary. We toured Rome, Venice, Florence however the time we spent in San Casciano at Villa Gentile was the highlight of our trip and truly exceeded our expectations! Our hosts, Alberto and Beatrice, made us feel genuinely welcome and went out of their way to make us feel at home for the length of our stay there. Villa Gentile was everything we had hoped for and more in it's charming accommodations. It was comfortable and the rural surroundings with vineyards and olive groves were beautiful and very scenic-just what we had imagined Italy to be. Alberto and Beatrice were generous in giving their time to answer our questions about so many things and to help us with our travel plans for little sightseeing day trips from the Villa. It is located in an area that affords convenient travel to other notable areas such as Florence, Pisa, Cortona or just simply a leisurely jaunt into San Casciano for coffee and a pastry on a cafe patio, grocery shopping for fresh foods in the bakeries, pasta shops, meat/veggie/fruit shops or to visit one of their fine eating establishments. We went with high expectations and our only disappointment was that we could not stay longer! Our experience at Villa Genile is one that we hope to repeat again in the near future and for a longer stay the next time around. We highly recommend the Villa and it's hosts for your trip to Italy!!

Wonderfully quaint accommodations in a house filled with history and still loved by the family that owns it. We all fell in love with Alberto and his girlfriend Beatrice. The house is huge with lots of rooms to gather or separate (if you're sick of your travel companions). Very centrally located and within easy distance to Florence and other historical villages and wineries. Loved the back yard and pool to spend time soaking in the Tuscan sun but also enjoyed the lower "stable" level to hide from the sun or get out of the occasional shower. The house is very old and I found the stairs and uneven terracotta floors to be a great sobriety test after more than several bottles of Chianti. We loved Villa Gentile and will definitely return when we can.
