6 on the Beach
Alberta CanadaLocation, Location
Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013
6 ladies stayed for one week. There were enough beds to accommodate single sleeping for all! The view out the front window was great and the beach one block. Great boardwalks on both the bay and beach sides. Driving distances good to lots of activities.
Everything we needed in the kitchen was available and was nice to have large bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner available in all the bathrooms. Extra blankets and pillows available. A large group of young people stayed in the apartment next door but were very considerate. The door of the apartment rattles when the other door opens and closes to the adjacent apartment. The keypad worked out great for comings and goings at different times.
For the best restaurants walk toward Pacific Beach (or take a taxi which are easily available on the street). The small grocery store on the corner makes great coffees and bagels etc. -

Bridgewater IAWe truly enjoyed our time.
Left on 02/11/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We loved being close to the sand/water and just a short distance from the ocean. Overall we liked the condo. There are a lot of light switches--several we could not find the lights they went to. The dining room table is too wide for the space. We could not have the chairs around the table and open the entry door (the heavy chairs really grated on the floor when we moved them). It would be helpful if there were instructions to the TV in the livingroom. It took a lot of trial and error by a couple guys who know how to operate things. We finally had to call and even then it wasn't simple. The main floor bedroom was very warm, while the rest of the condo was cool. We did appreciate the washer/dryer, kitchen, livingroom, and small deck. The outlet for the grill didn't work.
We had a really good time in San Diego and appreciate all your help. Being able to check in early on 2/1 was wonderful. Thank you. -

Menlo Park, CAGreat family vacation on the bay
Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Six of us stayed here over New Years 2013 - three adults and 3 teenagers. With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, there was plenty of room to spread out. We loved the view, and watched Sea World's New Years Eve fireworks show right from our balcony. We preferr being on the quieter bay side of Mission Beach, because the surf side can get very busy/noisy.
Kitchen was very well equipped - I suspect that the owners spend time there also, because it was a kitchen you could actually cook in. Place was clean. We liked the combination lock on the door, so large groups don't have to negotiate about who had the key. Nancy was very helpful and responsive.
Parking is tight over all Mission Beach - our huge pickup truck couldn't fit in the carport, but there was free overnight parking just 2 blocks away. Cyclists should be aware that Mission Beach has issues with bike theft, so bring your nice bikes inside at night. There was a small market just a block away, and a large grocery store less than a mile away. Don't miss Roberto's Taco stand, across the street from the roller coaster at Belmont Park - the shrimp tacos (for $2.50 each!) are wonderful. -

Summerset, SDGreat Location
Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012
A total of 9 of us stayed here for Christmas 2012. The location was great! There is a nice view of the harbor and a very short walk (5 minutes) to ocean. There is sand right outside the back, so kids could play in the sand near the harbor while adults could watch from inside. The beach is a great place to walk or for kids to play. It is also a convenient location for driving to Sea World, the airport, the zoo, etc.
There is a cabinet where you park that has a lot of sand toys and chairs for you to enjoy at the beach. There was also a closet in the downstairs bedroom, next to the washer/dryer, that had beach towels. This was a nice touch for going to the beach. The kitchen was fully stocked with lots a plates, glasses, pots/pans, etc so we could eat in.
This was a little cramped for 9 of us, 8 adults and 1 kid. The 4 bedrooms allowed everyone to have their own room, but it was pretty cramped near the dining table, and when too many cooks were in the kitchen. With all of us at the dining table, there wasn't room to walk around the table without people getting out of their seats. There were not a lot of places to sit in the living room area (right next to the dining table), so we used dining chairs to sit on. This wasn't a big deal for us, but something to be aware of.
Since there were 9 of us, we rented a big van so we could all get around in 1 vehicle. It was almost impossible for us to park in our spot with the van because of the tight corners and walls in the alley. We talked to the renters in the other unit and switched spots for our stay, and that allowed us to park okay. Fyi, for anyone looking for a large 12 or 15 passenger van, we rented from Readivan. I would reccommend them to anyone.
Overall, a very nice place to go if you want something in a good location that is close to the beach, but isn't super expensive. We spent a lot of time at the beach and around town (Sea World, the zoo, etc) so space wasn't an issue. -

This place was a great location for my young family. It was nice to be beachfront on the bay and to be able to walk just a couple of blocks to Mission Beach. The proximity to Sea World was also a plus as we planned to go there all along. We did have an issue with the Wi-Fi, but they took care of it quickly.
Thanks! -

We have replaced all linens (one had a small hole and a few had bleach stains from Acne medicine) and reminded our cleaners to check the BBQ to make sure the guests have cleaned it as guests are responsible for cleaning the BBQ after use. It's a non-stick surface and easy to clean. Nancy

Left on 07/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The house couldn't be any closer to the bay than it is. The ocean is less than two blocks away and directly behind the house. Simply gorgeous sunrises as viewed from the front balcony. The bay has a concrete walk around a large portion of it, so if you like to walk, run, skate or bike it's a great location for doing so. While the walk was heavily used during our stay by folks doing all of the above, this didn't affect us at all. Actually very minimal noise from it. We all felt very safe in the entire area. The only concern we had was that parking was very, very tight. There are three rental units in the house with assigned and covered parking located at the rear entrance to the property. You access this through a one-way alley and at times, depending upon the size of their vehicles and how much space they used, it could make entering and exiting your vehicle difficult. Nothing major, you just have to really pay attention to your parking as well as being sensitive to your fellow renters vehicle accessibility. All in all, a super nice place.

This was a cute, clean 1 BR condo perfect for the three of us...and located right next to the beach and boardwalk...easy walking distance to amenities. The outside was at first a bit disconcerting as it was a bit drab, but no worries, the inside is newly remodeled and cleverly and sweetly decorated. The pull out couch is the most comfie one we've ever slept in! I would definitely rent it again!

The condo was great for 6 people. The location was great. The steps were hard for one of the visitors who was 86 years old but we knew that it had steps. The carpet in the upstairs was slightly dirty and many of the nightlights were not workable. Overall we enjoyed the stay and would rent the condo again on another visit.

We travelled with 4 adults and 5 teenagers. This condo was very clean, affordable, with well appointed kitchen and bedrooms. The unit is on the bay side, which is far more quiet than the ocean side. We could leave the sliding doors open at night and not be disturbed by the typical oceanfront boardwalk noise. Walking distance to Balboa Park and a quik ride to SeaWorld and downtown. The only drawback is that when all are seated at the dining table, you cannot walk past the table from the kitchen to the living room. Could use an extra comfy chair in the living room. The cable TV and free internet is a bonus. Parking in tight in this area of Mission Beach, although there is a parking lot about 2 blocks away. Covered parking is provided and we were able to fit in one small car and a mini-van without issue

Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011
We arrived to find the door code sent to us via email was incorrect. A phone call to Nancy got us in the door. The rental location was terrific. However, the place is showing signs of wear and is in need of paint and new carpeting. It was comfortable for our extended family group. There were two young men staying in the house on the other side of Bayside Lane (due west of the carport) who sat outside on the porch smoking, talking, and playing music to 2:30 or 3:00 am. I asked them to be considerate neighbors and they would go inside for about 30 minutes, but always came back outside and continued their loud conversations, which usually woke us up again. I would be reluctant to stay in this rental again primarily for that reason.

Left on 09/17/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Whole place needs a refurb. Dirty, scuffed walls everywhere, paintwork chipped and peeling from bannisters. Dirty carpets, grubby bed linen. Musty smell. Was this because it was end of season? Kitchen well equiped but had to scrub oven hob before using (and the iron.) Unable to contact agency when we arrived in the evening during a power cut as there is no mobile number, so had to sit in the dark as torch was broken and shop sold out of candles. When we asked if we could stay for an extra few hours, willing to pay, as we had a late return flight, we were told we could not as they had a booking starting that day,Thursday. On checking the website there was no one due until the Sunday...Could this be because we stated our concerns about the state of the place the day after our arrival or were they just slow updating the website...?

We are very sorry to hear that this guest did not enjoy their stay. Unfortunately, they arrived on Thur, Sept 8th, when not just this property but Southern California from Palm Springs all the way down to Baja, CA. and parts of Arizona, experienced a massive power outage. (A quick Google Search can verify this). Cell phone service was intermittent to non existent for all of San Diego county (our After-Hours number provided to all guests in check in instructions is directly routed to employee's cell phones); up to 5 million people were out of power well into the early hours of the next day. It appears that this set the tone for this guest's visit and impression of the property. Regarding a late check out, the property did in fact have a guest checking in the day they were departing. A reservation that was secured on 9/2. We always do our best to honor early/late check in/out requests but when we only have a 5 hour gap to clean a 4 bedroom property, our cleaners quite simply put, need the entire time. Regardless, we always respond to these requests by asking guests to check with us the day prior to their arrival/departure to verify (this policy is listed on our website on each property page as well as in emailed check in instructions) as we take so many last minute reservations. This guest departed 9/15 and as mentioned, the reservation after theirs was secured, and on our calendar (if they did in fact check), since 9/2. This property has received multiple 5 star reviews from previous guests who did not call it 'grubby'; it is unfortunate that this guest allowed the power outage on the day of their arrival to sour their entire experience.

It was a beautiful place to stay. Enjoyed 10 beautiful days on the bay! The condo was very spacious and clean. The only downfall was the BBQ, which I couldn't understand why the other Condos had the other,so couldn't BBQ too much. The condo does need space to lock up bikes, as all of our bikes got stolen! It was a great Condo, and would stay again, but space needed for Bikes.

Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Five of our extended family stayed here in January, but it wasn't our 1st choice. We had planned to stay at Carolyn's Bayview Home, however the rains had caused them a problem with maintenance, so we were offered this place from a selection of three. The view was beautiful from two rooms, the living room and the master bedroom. The dining area adjoined the living room, and was rather tight so we moved some of the chairs away from the entry door. Parking was also very tight, there was another car parked beside ours, so in order for all of us to load/unload, we had to back out on the street which was very narrow.

We used the condo for a lovely long weekend (Thurs - Monday) in May. My husband and I were there with our three adult children and son-in-law. The location was great, and it was nice to wake up to the beautiful, fresh air. We liked being on Sail Bay, which is quieter than the ocean side. The Condo had everything we needed, and was well-maintained. There were six of us, and when everyone was in the living room, seating space was limited, but all in all,it suited or needs quite nicely. If I had known how nicely the kitchen was set up, I would have planned to cook more. It was very certainly well supplied with all the neccesary items.

Left on 07/08/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We stayed in Bob's Paradise May 2011 for a short week. The location was great it was quiet the kids could play on the sand, if we wanted to go over the the ocean side it was a short walk. The additional parking lot was perfect especially if you have a large SUV like we did. The layout was great plenty of room for everyone! The only few minor details that really threw us off was it was advertised to have a gas grill and when we arrived there was a tiny electric grill. We were told due to insurance reasons that they we unable to have a gas grill but the other 2 units in the building had full gas grills. Also the carpets where not in the best shape, I think the overall place was nice but the photos did it more justice. I think the best part of the place was the amount of bathrooms. Especially since we did have 10 people with us. I can't say that we would stay here again, I think it would come down to price if we did.

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2010
This condo was extremely "family friendly". Nicely kept, but not so frou-frou as to make us feel like we couldn't let the little ones enjoy themselves. The only problems we ran into was one bathroom shower that didn't allow water to become more than moderately warm due to a faucet issue, and the fact that we didn't feel comfortable leaving the sliding doors to the balcony open for fear one of the toddlers would attempt sky-diving. Also, the barbecue was really only an electric skillet on legs, not something we wanted to waste good steaks or chicken on. It would be nice if that were replaced with something more conducive to true barbecueing.

Don't want to complain, but just for your improvement.
Living room only sat 5 comfortably, even though it sleeps 10. Couldn't sit around dining room table unless it was pulled out and then you couldn't walk by or go out front door. Two chairs on upper porch were cheap plastic and filthy. Carpet was disgusting and linens in master bedroom smelled musty. View and location were good. Quiet neighborhood. -

Left on 09/21/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We stayed here for one week with 6 other friends (8 people total) and had plenty of room for us all. The house itself is much larger than at first glance. The rooms are all very large with lots of closet space. Comfy beds and fans for every room, should it get to be too warm. The kitchen is updated and well stocked with dishware and pots and pans for all of our needs. There are 3 full bathrooms, which is great for 8 people. The 2 bathrooms upstairs need to be updated a bit, but they are functional and in good condition. The master bedroom is quite large and has floor to ceiling windows. The view is beautiful, but makes for an especially bright morning, as there are only sheers on the windows, no curtains. (Don't plan to sleep in, if you take the master bedroom.) The living room also offers floor to ceiling windows, which opens out on to the balcony with a gorgeous view of the bay. We all loved the fireworks from Sea World every night and the easy access to the beach every day. The balcony is the only outdoor space so we wish it had more seating and maybe a charcoal or gas BBQ, rather than electric, but beggars can't be choosers, I guess. Quiet neighborhood and we really didnt have any issues with parking. Quick drive to the grocery story and walking distance to mini-marts, food spots, bars, and Belmont Park. It's in a great location and definitely good for the price. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!
