Some neighborhoods are just wonderful! Quiet, upscale, close to the ocean, easy walk to restaurants and shops...this is one of those neighborhoods! Sit out on your large patio having a smoothie or a glass of wine, watching the sunset on the ocean, hearing the waves and smelling the fresh salt air.
When the steaks are marinated enough, throw them on the grill. There is a table for four on the front patio and a table for six on the back. Free laundry room, clean garage, and your duplex apartment is comfortable, tastefully decorated, and supplied... with everything you need to make your stay carefree.
Newly remodeled about one year ago, this unit has a queen bed in the master bedroom, a double in the second bedroom, and a queen sofabed with an upgraded gel-infused memory foam mattress (4/2014) in the living room. Large flat screen TV, DVD, high speed internet with Wi-Fi, and free phone calls within the USA and Canada for your convenience.
Right down the street from you is Law Street Park, named "Best Beach Overlook" by several San Diego Websites:
This two-block long patch of lush green grass, with several shaded benches, overlooks the sandy beach from the top of a 25 foot cliff. It is a favorite spot for observing the wide white-sand beach below and the endless numbers of surfers and sail-boarders displaying their skills at wave-riding, just off-shore. The park is also a much loved spot for picnickers and sunset watchers with the added convenience of restrooms and outdoor showers. A wide staircase assures easy access to the beach below.
The location is superb! Within 3-9 miles of SeaWorld, Old Town, the downtown GasLamp district, Little Italy, the famous San Diego Zoo and lovely Balboa Park with it's myriad of interesting museums, Shelter Island and Point Loma State Park, the Embarcadero with it's armada of floating museums, harbor tours and ferries to Coronado Island.
Not far away is LegoLand, the San Diego Wild Animal Park, the flower fields of Carlsbad, the wineries of Temecula, and the historic gold rush town of Julian. And, it's only a day trip to Anza Borrego Desert State Park!
We provide the beach equipment and beach towels so just pack your bathing suit and sandals and come on out to experience San Diego's year-round nearly perfect weather!
Thoroughly enjoyed this property because of it's comfort and proximity to the beach.

This was a wonderful accommodation. The property is close to dining, beach and shops along the boardwalk. The house was clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could ask for including beach chairs, towels and patio furniture. The fully furnished kitchen was more than adequate. We had a few questions and the rental office was prompt and courteous in meeting all our needs. Thanks for a wonderful 5 days.
Would you recommend this vacation rental to a friend?
Convenient to beach and boardwalk
Left on 04/02/2014 for a stay in March 2014 | Marcia
We stayed here for a month while visiting family and found it comfortable and easy to get to the beach, boardwalk and grocery stores. Nice patio in front with sunset views. The galley kitchen is adequate for only one person at a time to cook, and the eating area is limited. The kitchen was reasonably supplied, though I bought more silverware and a few other items. The second bedroom is rather small with a double bed. Laundry is accessed from the back patio. The big plus of this unit is the location and the partial ocean view from the front window. It was also very clean, and the management was promptly responsive to an issue with the refrigerator. Garage parking space proved valuable on weekends. Lots of surfers...fun to watch!

First of all, this property does not have central air conditioning as advertised. That was disappointing because that was one of the main reasons we chose this property. Also, we expected more amenities considering the high price that we paid. (Coffee, body lotion, etc.). We have stayed in other Vrbo properties that cost less but had generously stocked kitchens. However, the location was great; very close to the beach. Also, having a garage to use was wonderful because parking in all of San Diego is atrocious! The sand toys and boogie board were great for our son, and the beach chairs were great for us. Be aware that the bikes are for adults--they were too big for our 9 year old. The front patio was great. You get a "peek" of the ocean from there and can hear the waves crashing. A great place for dining. Overall, it provided an OK house (for the price) with a great location. Read more
Response from Nancy's Vacation Rentals - 06/22/2013
This guest must have mixed up this house with another one, easy to do when you are looking and comparing so many. We have never advertised this house as having AC. AC is very rare in the San Diego beach area and out of our 51 units, only 5 have AC, two condos with central air, another one only in the lvrm and another two only in the upstairs master bedroom. We are very aware of which five have AC and we state that very prominently in the headline. This one does not mention AC anywhere.
None of our owners provide children's bikes in any of our rentals because it's too much liability and a proper fitting helmet is required for anyone under 18. You can easily rent children's bikes many places around the beach area and they fit them with the required helmets.
Since this very popular house rents really well so that tells me the price is fair and competitive. If the calendar is empty, we lower the price. The customers are the ones that drive the rates in this day of internet comparative shopping and we are very sensitive to occupancy rate feedback. Nancy
Tight spaces and bad odors. The location and outdoor patio are
Left on 05/29/2013 for a stay in April 2013 | AYP
I didn't expect a five star resort but I expected better than this. When we first walked in the gross, filthy smell of the carpet set the tone for the month. We had to buy febreze and air fresheners to try to disguise the smell. And when the odor is that bad you know the carpet is dirty so it makes it very uncomfortable to walk around and not feel gross. Simple inexpensive things like the bath mats and shower curtains were old and stained so again felt dirty. We couldn't even use the bath mats. The space is small and no way appropriate for six people. Maybe three people can comfortably sit in the living room to watch tv.
The master bedroom is underneath the deck of the top unit. There is no padding under the deck furniture which is right overhead so if you are trying to sleep and someone above moves the furniture or enjoys the space you will hear the dragging of chairs. It was especially difficult trying to nap our two year old. I had to ask the people upstairs to stop moving the chairs and it's not their fault.
Another issue is the beach chairs and bikes. While having the option to use them is great but they are old and rusty so you wouldn't want to use them anyway.
There is not enough hot water so if someone is doing laundry or showering in one bathroom or the other unit expect a cold shower. Also, if you are staying long term like we did there is not much storage in the fridge because you can't open the drawers bc the door is too close to the wall.
The service from the rental company was good. I just wish they inspected the properties better and made some recommendations to make this unit cleaner. The carpets should absolutely be ripped up. It takes a lot to make them smell that bad and the entire month we were disgusted and uncomfortable which does not make for a fun vacation. If I had known I would have not stayed there. It was not a cheap rental.

Nancy's runs a tight ship, they kept us informed with clear concise email as our trip approached. At check in everything was in order and clean. Overall I'd rate the condo an 8 out of 10. Great patio's out front and in back. It would get a 10 if they replaced the carpet and the sleeper sofa is ready to be replaced with a non-vinyl version.
Great location, excellent service.
Left on 05/28/2013 for a stay in May 2013 | The Belladons
The service was excellent - we had to call to ask a question, change out the high chair, and get a fan, and the prompt response and follow up were fantastic. The instructions we got prior to our arrival were extremely detailed and that is much appreciated when traveling.
We love the location. We stayed upstairs the year before and chose to stay on the main floor this year because it has 2 bedrooms. It has everything we need for a family of 4. The only issue we would have is the carpet is due for a major clean or change - it is showing the effects of many many rentals, so was pretty dirty. This is mostly a concern for us specifically because we have a 1 year old who crawls as well as a young child who likes to play and lie on the floor. As well, the kitchen could use a bit of replenishment in terms of pans, utensils etc.
So, we'd definitely rent from Nancy's again, but may look at some of the other properties for next year in the same area, because we love Mission Beach and the proximity to the water.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was great, place was clean and comfortable. My in-laws stayed in upstairs unit and it was perfect. Only complaint is the strange smell that we couldn't figure out. Guest services was very quick about small issues like light bulbs and how to use the TV. We would stay again if they figure out the smell.

We stayed in the two bedroom downstairs unit. The pictures are very accurate. This is a nice place. Working with the agents from Nancy's was easy and they are very professional and responsive. Our favorite place to enjoy morning coffee and happy hour was the front patio. There is distant view of the ocean and sunset.
The location is excellent, just short walk to the beach, and many restaurants and grocery stores. We cooked most nights, and the barbecue is a newer unit that works great. The unit was well stocked with the basics. We rode the bikes for trips to the coffee shop,(Java Cafe was our favorite),store, Ocean Beach, La Jolla (4 scenic miles). The bikes are just ok.
I would recommend this place if you're looking for a nice place with a local feeling.

We loved the location of this rental. The house was well furnished and well appointed with fun and appropriate amenities. The cleanliness of the floors left much to be desired. I specifically requested a clean location because of my infant-crawler. The kitchen floor was dirty, and the carpet was worn. The bathroom floors still had hair and the bath mats were stained from the previous stay. But we dealt with it. We cleaned the floors and limited our child to areas where blankets covered the floors. Otherwise, the house was great, and I would recommend a stay in this house because the location was awesome!! Beware of the homeless dude living in the alley where you go to park in the garage.

The reservation agents could not have been more helpful in securing our stay at Don's Law Street Lodgings. They new what we needed to make this vacation happen and they delivered! Amazing customer service.
Upon arrival, we couldn't believe we were only steps from the beach. We had a view of the ocean right from the patio. The home was very comfortable for our group of 5, including 3 kids. Everything we needed to enjoy our stay was there--cruiser bikes, boogie boards, beach umbrella, and Finding Nemo on DVD. What a life!
Thank you everyone at Nancy's for a wonderful vacation!

This is a great spot to stay! Location steps away from Law Street Beach and Tourmaline Surfing Canyon. View from the front patio was awesome. The house is small but very well maintained. Patio furniture was plentiful and new. Garage parking a huge plus. Everything you need from towels to soap to beach cruisers. Best location in PB, easy bike ride to the action and chaos of the boardwalk but you can escape the noise if you want to.

The house was located in a great neighbourhood close to the beach, a number of restaurants, lounges, and other amenities. Its advertised as a 6 person house but it is more suitable for four people. The couch has a hide-a-bed but its quite uncomfortable and the dining room table only has seating for four.
Other than that, it was a nice spot.

Our family was very impressed with the 709 Law St. 5 doors up from the beach made for lots of close fun without having to travel anywhere. Very clean!! Very comfortable beds! Both front and back patios are more than roomy and are great hang outs! Toys in the garage and beach cruiser bikes were a big and well used bonus! Very quiet, clean, fun and also secure!
We only thought of 2 small issues...1. It would be nice to have a garage opener for inside the car, and 2. the side garage service door should have protection on it so if it hits a parked car (in the left space), it won't damage the car.

As Nancy stated, this rental is a 2 minute walk to the beach and a wonderful park and walkway along the water. the rental easily accomodated the 4 of us. it was very neat and clean. The garage was very nice and handy especially on street cleaning day. Everything was as advertised and promised.
The first upstairs tenants very a little noisy at times but we were not used to having anyone above us. We adjusted after a little while.

Excellent, quiet location 6 houses from direct access to the boardwalk and the beach with lifeguard and both surfing and swimming.
Easy access to Seaworld and not far from Balboa park with the zoo and museums. Easy drive to the supermarket.
The kitchen is small but contains all the equipment required and the BBQ resolved any problems. The laundry facilities are excellent.

The whole family thought that this was a superb rental property for our rquirements. Being just off the Ocean front meant that we were not on full view to the extent that people were on the Ocean front/ board walk properties and we were also sheltered from the wind that seemed continuous throughout our eight day stay. The bicycles and body boards let us really join in with the local past times -- fortunately we did not have any conflict of use with tenants in the upper storey of the property. A good location for visiting all of San Diego's attractions.

We enjoyed the front & back patios, the BBQ grill, the gurgling fountain, and the full kitchen. The refrigerator is full-size, which we also appreciated. Since we are a family of five, we had to take our food to the rear patio for sit-down meals. (There is a small bar/table in the kitchen area that seats 4 but it was too cramped for us. The living room is also small and only has room for 4 to sit and watch TV.) The furnishings were lovely, mostly new and the decor was elegant. The master bed must have a pillowtop mattress. It was very comfortable! There is plenty of room in the closets for luggage and hanging clothes, but the rooms are fairly small. It was so nice to have the garage available, and our long Suburban fit in there just fine. There was actually plenty of on-street parking in the mornings. There is an upstairs rental unit as well, but they were quiet and we all shared the beach toys and the four bikes without any fuss. We took advantage of the lovely sidewalk along the beach cliff to walk to the shopping district, where there are plenty of restaurants and shops. Nancy's Vacation Rentals sent us a link to local grocery stores and restaurants before our trip which was very helpful. The closest grocery is Trader Joe's and we drove there the first day. All in all, this location is excellent, the quality is great, and we would stay again!

My husband and I rented the downstairs two bedroom, two bathroom. My parents rented the upstairs one bedroom, one bath. It was the perfect setup for our trip to San Diego. Our two year old son could play in the front and back patio area. The walk to beach was great and only took a minute. The house (both downstairs and upstairs) was clean and had everything we needed for cooking meals. You are just minutes away from Sea World and minutes away from La Jolla. The garage was nice to have because surfers park along the street all day. We could park our suburban in the garage and my parents smaller SUV without any problems. Overall we were very pleased with the house.

The 2 bedrooms were great with a fully equipped kitchen. We ate breakfast and dinner in house. One night we cooked steak and the other we cooked chicken on the gas grill. There are a couple of super markets close by. There are also many restaurants too.
My pickup truck would not fit in the garage, but we had plenty of street parking. The car did though.
The location was lively, but secluded being 6 houses away from the boardwalk and its noise and traffic. I loved riding my bicycle up and down the boardwalk.
The small Palisades Park was a wonderful place to take photos of the Pacific, kite boarders, surfers, wind surfers, dog walkers, bicyclists, sunsets, etc. I shot 800 photos there over three evenings with most of these trying to get surf boarders crashing. I finally got one!
The house is close to everything in San Diego so during the day we visited sites such as the USS Midway, Coronado, Cabrillo National Monument, Old San Diego, etc.

We really enjoyed our stay on Law Street. The location cannot be beat. The accommodations were also very good. We enjoyed the deck on the front of the house, and also used the back deck. Our daughter, son-in-law, and 7 month old grandson joined us at the end of our visit, and enjoyed it also. Just a couple of minor improvements we found while there: the carpet is a little worn, the barbecue burner is rusted out, and the silk flower arrangements are not needed (very 80's). Jeremy of Nancy's Vacation Rentals promptly responded to my email, helping me choose a place to stay that was perfect for our needs in SD: Don's Beach Retreat. This Law Street house is as described, (and more), an easy stroll to the beach, with the convenience of the laundry, the beach toys, the stocked kitchen, especially if you are traveling w/ children (we flew into Ca). There's several grocery stores nearby, even Trader Joes, so we mostly ate in or made sandwiches to take with us, which really saved money-and resulted in healthier eating. There's fun shopping and restaurants are close by.
Nancy was helpful in extending our stay. Check in & out was easy! I can't improve on Dianne's succinct review posted on Trip advisor: "Location, Location, Location!" Our almost 3 year old summed it up, "I love this beach house!" We hope to be back soon, and we highly recommend Nancy's Vacation Rentals!

Found this property listed online. Had quick response when inquiring about the property and when placing reservation. When we arrived, we found the property as described, nice beach house, just up from the beach. Very well equipped kitchen for a vacation rental - I was even able to do some of our traditional Christmas baking (brought small hand mixer from home, everything else was there). Cooked about half our main meals there which made our vacation even more affordable. Grocery stores very nearby. Nice walking along the beach. Easy drive to San Diego attractions. This time of year, parking in front of condo was never a problem. Nice having garage space too. Unfortunately, we were not able to utilize the beautiful patios due to the rainy weather. Next time :-) We will definitely consider this property again when we return to San Diego.

We vacation in San Diego for Thanksgiving every year to be with our sons for the holiday. My mother in law was here from Massachusetts with us and we loved this house for our stay. There was plenty of room in the house to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for everyone and it was nice to have the beautiful private back yard as well. The decor in the house is very beachy and tastefully decorated. We would have stayed there last year as well but it wasn't available. The other nice plus of this house is the short walk to the beach. The beach was visible from the front porch, where there was furniture & a BBQ to cook & enjoy the view. Everything we needed was within walking distance, including nightlife and shops on the boardwalk. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect - easy access to the beach - great for kids. It is an easy walk - and our son was just 3 at the time. The beach is great - big, wide sandy beach for for exploring, walking or running. The condo is clean and well equipped. It's very enjoyable to sit outside and enjoy the patio for dining and sunsets. It's a great residential area, however, the street was a little busier than I had anticipated - but that's only because everyone uses it to get to the beach (and people in SD take advantage of their great beaches!) Neighbors and passersby were all really friendly. We were there at the end of Sept. and the weather was perfect -- really warm in fact! Would love to go back sometime!

I think I made the best decision when I was looking for homes to rent while we were in San Diego for my son's graduation from Marine Bootcamp. Very comfortable home and so close to the beach. Not happy with the shape the beaches were in, but I guess that is the economy taking its toll! Jeremy stopped by and he couldn't of been any nicer when we discussed a few things that needed attention. My teenage kids loved the location and the home. Our neighbors upstairs were wonderful! I would recommend this location to anyone, and especially if you have a son in bootcamp! Very relaxing atmosphere when they get out to spend a few days! Boardwalk was great! I will rent this again if I ever return to San Diego.
