MadisonLovely location! Large space, only a few concerns.
Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We loved the location. Within steps of the ocean and easy walking distance to a number of restaurants and even a grocery store. Only two concerns: the large one was that there was no recycling, which astounded me. In a week, we'd gone through a number of plastic bottles, glass bottles, etc. I called to ask and was told the owner didn't use recycling because it cost extra. But I would think this could be passed along to the renters, and it could even be used as a marketing benefit, most who stay surely care about the earth and oceans. The other issue was a slight smell when we arrived, but leaving the windows open for day helped a lot - maybe hardwood floors or tile would be better than carpet. Awesome ability to call the rental agency at any time with quick and helpful responses.

Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We really liked being so close to the beach and the bay. Being on top of a quality bakery was a nice bonus. Everything worked in the kitchen and we figured out the TV for monitoring Thanksgiving football games. We were missing a key for a closet and when we called about that, staff was apologetic and more importantly got us the key within the hour. It seemed like we had to remember a lot of combinations - bike lock, garage door, gate lock and door lock, but we adjusted. More importantly, the unit is a great place for walking everywhere.

Left on 10/24/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The apartment was well stocked with all of the necessary appliances and was very clean. The location is excellent for beach access and beachside restaurants and bars. I also liked that it only took 15 minutes to get to downton San Diego from there.

TucsonA wonderful vacation spot for the family.
Left on 10/07/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We were delighted with our stay at Gail's Mission Beach Getaway. I admit we had concerns being over a bakery and close to the restaurants/bars. All those hesitations were dismissed after the first night. Not a peep was heard from these areas. We had our windows opened all day/night and were never disturbed. There was a bachelor party going on across the street and that was not bothersome either (but entertaining to see, LOL). The vacation was for myself, 2 daughters, and parents. We were just steps to the beach and found it very convienent to haul the provided beach gear (chairs, boogie boards, sand toys, umbrella). We went surfing with one of the local surf schools and had a blast. My younger daughter was so happy with the boogie boards that she was smiling from ear to ear the whole vacation. The sleeping arrangements were very spacious and we were pleased to find a sleeper sofa in the living room which allowed each of us to have our own bed, except for my parents who had the downstairs bedroom. The older daughter loved the loft space and would relax and watch TV from the twin bed. The garage is very tight and shared, but we had no problem with it. I drive a kia sportage and we shared the space with a honda pilot. I was happy to be able to come and go without the battle of finding a parking space. This space is so clean. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the space being so close to the beach. We had no complaints...my husband is deployed and returning in January...he is very excited for our next trip to this rental...especially since he is stationed at coronado island and it is just minutes away. We hope to stay often. We absolutely loved this rental :).

Thank you to all the staff for helping make the accomodation portion of this family gathering smooth and organized on such short notice.

We wanted to take our kids to the animal parks - this rental was perfectly located. Close to SD Zoo, even closer to Seaworld, and steps away from the beach. The only real drawback was the heat - warm summer days meant very warm townhome during the day. Provided fans helped but it only got truly comfortable in the late evening with the fans going and the windows all open. All-in-all a very enjoyable experience.

We enjoyed the condo and staying so close to the beach. We stayed in the same condo on Labor Day weekend of 2010. Excellent. The only thing that I have to say is maybe you should consider putting a screen door on the sliding arcadia door. The breeze was so pleasant blowing through but every time we left the door open, the little black bugs would fly on in. Otherwise, I would continue to use Gails Beach Getaway and Nancy's vacation rentals.

We enjoyed our stay. It was nice and roomy and easy check in. Parking is always a trick but that is the way all through the beach area. Loved the bikes and sand chairs. Everything was clean and ready for us. I'm glad they included a high chair and pak-N-play with the unit. I would suggest upgrading your skillet. Also maybe some instructions on how to work the TV? Other then that is was awesome. This is our 2nd time with this condo. Love it. Thanks again.

Left on 08/28/2011 for a stay in August 2011
I was suprised at how close to the beach we really were. The location is absolutely perfect. Checking in was easy, the instructions we had covered everything.
The parking is definitely tight and uncomfortable. If you're not good at back in, probably don't bring a big car. We ended up being stuck with a minivan from the car rental place, so it was a trick every time we drove anywhere.
There were great places to eat and fun shopping all within walking distance.
The condo itself was great--keep in mind though that the upstairs "bedroom" is really just an open loft that looks out onto the rest of the space. It was a little tough for us at first with little guys, we had to figure out the ideal way to let them go to sleep while my husband and I could stay up and not be bored to death.
The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed and was nice and clean when we arrived.
The biggest downs to me were 1. the noise at night--nothing the condo owners can do about this, I think it just comes with the area, but it was loud. Lots of yelling and screaming and party sounds.
2. the boogie boards provided were all broken--as in the wrist straps were broken out of them so my seven year old was very stressed out using them that they were going to be washed off into the ocean. I'm hoping that Nancy's will soon replace them with more functional boards! We would've felt pretty bad losing them, so we just went and rented others for additional cost which was too bad.
Overall we had an amazing time and we do hope to come back!!! -

ArizonaA comfortable place for your getaway!
Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011
How can you miss when you get to smell cinnamon rolls and the ocean first thing in the morning!!! This was our first time at this rental and we were quite pleased with the layout. Everything worked (couldn't say that about our last rental - not one of Nancy's rentals by the way) and we felt right at home. Traffic was a little worse than expected (even for peak season), so it added to the noise factor at times, but it wasn't bothersome. I think this location would be just fantastic after school starts.
I echo other reviewer's comments concerning the garage. If you have anything bigger than a Hyundai Sonata or Nissan altima, the garage will be a . . . challenge.
Having the Baked bakery/cafe downstairs was really nice! The customers are quiet, the food is very good, and you don't have to drive anywhere! I consider that a pleasant perk to the rental.
Our college-age daughter had the run of the upstairs which suited her quite well.
Our only disappointment was the location of the dumpster. It was constantly overflowing and having it right by the gate coming from the garage made for a jaded first impression. I know space is a precious commodity but there has to be another place for it.

Olathe, KSA great place to stay, with a couple of tips
Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We absolutely loved this place and the time we spent there. I would rent it again, in fact we joked while we were there that we should just call now and book it for a week next summer. So, the following should be taken as tips or additional info, rather than criticism:
1. Some more & better photos would give future renters a better idea of the area, especially those who are completely unfamiliar with San Diego or the beach areas. When we first arrived we really didn't know what to expect, and frankly the first impression was, "What have I gotten us into?"
2. While limited parking was mentioned in the ad, more emphasis should be placed on this. We rented a Grand Cherokee for the week and while we were able to get it into the garage within the allotted area, it took 2-3 people every time to do so with no room to spare. And, there is no place else to park, even for a minute, without blocking traffic.
3. It also wasn't very obvious from the ad that the unit isn't air conditioned. For most of our stay that wasn't an issue for us, in fact sleeping with all the windows open with the ocean breeze blowing through constantly is one of our best memories. However, as the week went on the outside temps were climbing with each day, and it did start to get a little stuffy in the unit toward the end. This is just something people ought to know ahead of time.

Left on 05/25/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Great location but of course parking is an issue if you have guests. They can park down at the park on Santa Clara ;)
The condo was very comfortable with everything you need, but we didn't use the grill or cook any meals there. It got windy one night and there was an awful rattle that sounded like it came from the upstairs bathroom skylight, but we couldn't find the tool to close it. Never figured out how to operate the livingroom TV but it wasn't urgent so we didn't contact anyone. Great location, of course I had to have a sticky bun from Baked downstairs, and enjoyed the food and drinks at Guava Beach as well. We got groceries at Ralph's but didn't use much more than the bottled water and coffee. It was cloudy and a little cold until the day we left, so we didn't really take advantage of the beach. I love the Mission Beach location and its proximity to Sea World. The condo is great, but read the details carefully; the upstairs bedroom is a loft, there is no door, so there is a lack of privacy for those staying upstairs. On the upside, the lower bedroom has its own door to the bathroom in addition to the hall door. I liked the medicine cabinets in the bathrooms, much better than using drawers or leaving stuff on the counters. For a few days we had a bird sitting on a nest between the two condos so we were sure she was sitting on and egg, but on Mother's Day (oddly enough) she was gone and there was no egg, no baby bird, no egg shells, so we don't know why she sat there so diligently for over 48 hours. -

Everyone who assited us with our reservations at Nancy's Vacation Rentals were very helpful & knowledgeable. Their explanations and descriptions were right on.
My son, daughter-in-law, husband and myself spent 3 days in Gail's Beach Getaway. Upon arrival we found the condo clean and in good shape. We had not planned on eating our meals in the condo, so cannot really rate the appliances. The bakery down stairs though I can highly recommend. The location is great. In walking distance to the beach, shopping, restaurants, Bellmont Park and very easy drive to Sea World. Having bicycles and beach chairs for our use was great. The balcony is small, but you definately can watch the sunset should you choose to from it. The bed in the down stairs was comfortable enough, however the bed upstairs my son claim was OK. We did not have washclothes provided, but I did not call and request any either. All in all for the price I would recommend this condo, and would stay there again. I also would not hesitate to rent another one of Nancy's Vacation Rentals. -

Thank you very much for all the information that you sent us below. It sure came in handy. I wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time at the condo. There were a few glitches that I wanted to notify you of.
One was that the DVD player did not work. It turns on but does not open for one to place a DVD in. The other was the odor in the condo (not sure if it was smoke or what it was) but it was pretty strong, especially in the downstairs bedroom. Once I opened all the windows, it was better but for your next guests, you might want to open the windows before they arrive.
Thank you and I look forward to renting from your agency again in the future. -

If you are looking for luxury accommodations, this rental is not for you. The interior is dated and you have to climb two flights of stairs to access the unit. But if you're looking for a clean, convenient beach location and you're not picky about the decor or the pink bathtub, then this place is great. The flatscreen TVs and electronics were top notch. Being steps to the beach was great for our family. We even saw dolphins swimming in the ocean one morning. There were plenty of beach chairs and toys. The picture of the patio on the website is misleading, because the patio and all the furniture pictured belongs to the bakery. The actual balcony off the living room is tiny and only two people can fit on it, which was disappointing. The garage space barely fit our rental car (which was slightly smaller than a minivan). The next door neighbor I've read about in previous reviews was friendly and we didn't hear him most of the time (with the exception of one night when he was "entertaining" at 3:30 a.m.). I would recommend bringing ear plugs. The bakery downstairs was a bonus - Yummy! This location definitely gives you a feel for "beach life," and all the restaurants we ate at were outstanding. Nancy and her staff were always available to assist us and are great to work with. In all, it was a great vacation that the whole family enjoyed!

The location was great, the unit it self was dated but nice. The info package was helpful, it included directions to the unit from the airport, which were concise and easy to follow. The only issue was the photo made it look like the large patio downstairs was part of the unit, which belonged to the house next door.

Houston, TXGreat beach rental!
Left on 03/20/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Our family of 4 (mom, dad, 15 and 13 year olds) had a great time here. Location just off the beach is great. Very short walk to beach, bay and many restaraunts. Unlike other reviewers, we never heard the neighbors at night, all was quiet.
The garage is small. Our standard size rental car fit, but you can't really go any larger. You also have to back into the garage since the alley outside the garage is narrow.
One comment about the upstairs. Calling it a bedroom may be a stretch. At the top of the stairs you see the queen bed - no door. Off to the left you see the twin trundle - also no door. The only door upstairs is to the bathroom. Since this is a loft, from downstairs you can see both upstairs beds, so there's no real privacy. Also, the twin is under a sloping ceiling, so only a small child can actually sit up on that bed without hitting their head. This wasn't a problem for our family, but just wanted to make sure everyone knows exactly what they are getting.
Nancy's service was great! When the coffee maker broke, I let Nancy's know in the morning and we had a new one the same afternoon. Can't beat that! They are also very responsive to e-mails - quickly replying with answers. The unit was spotless when we arrived. Very clean.
We would definately return to this unit, and we'd gladly use Nancy's again for any other units. -

The apartment is nice, it was clean, the wine glasses were plastic, parking was horrendous, and the next door neighbors worked 2nd shift and partied all night. There is a very nice bakery downstairs. The beach is its major feature, but on a cold blustery March weekend, the gaslight district would be a much better choice.

There was a miscommunication with the Pak-N-play on my part and they were very good about accommodating us with what we needed. One day the microave didn't work and we called and they came right out to fix it. It was a great experience and we would deffently stay there again. One small commplaint is that the neighbor (permanate tenent) is noisy when returning home at 4 am.

The unti was nice and comfortable. We were unclear which beach cruisers and boogie boards were ours to use, but other than that we had all we needed for a fun time. The restaurants near the unit all had good food. We were close enough for a day trip to Disneyland. Overall it was a wonderful trip and everyone had a great time.
