Seattle, WAGreat family friendly rental close to everything!
Left on 04/19/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We had such a nice stay at this vacation rental. We wanted to visit San Diego for the weekend and stay in a reasonably priced vacation rental near the beach with plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 kids (ages 3 & 4) to spread out, relax, and play at the beach! The rental looks exactly like the pictures- no deceiving camera shots, the rooms are actually the sizes shown.
We were so pleased with the "extras" provided with the rental, from a fully equipped kitchen (we have stayed at many other rentals where the kitchen states it's fully equipped but clearly no one has ever tried to actually cook a meal there with the lack of cookwear and utensils), bathroom with plenty of towels, toilet paper, soap, and shampoo and conditioner, and the bedroom closets were like treasure troves! We found extra bedding, cots to sleep on, a pack n play, a highchair, and tons of fans which were great for circulating air and reducing noise. The garage was chock full of goodies too like bikes and beach toys.
The location is fantastic! You are literally 1/2 a block from Trader Joe's and their local market, shops, restaurants, etc. It's about a 10 minute slow walk to the beach down a quieter road, and once you reach the boardwalk you can walk for miles along the beach.
The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into stocking and furnishing this unit and it shows! Bottom line is it was clean, the price was right, the beds were comfortable, and it was just right for our family. This was by far our best vacation rental experience to date and we'd love to come back. -

Erie, ColoradoNice but dated house in heart of Pacific Beach
Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in April 2013
House is in the heart of Pacific Beach - very close to numerous restaurants, bars, the beach. The house itself is rather dated and worn; it could use a fresh paint job, as well as a dishwasher, updated towels, linens, etc.

Left on 03/07/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Checking in was very easy since Noncy's Rentals sent us very detailed information about every aspect of our stay. No keys were necessary since all locks were codes. This was very convenient. We arrived late on a Friday night when area bars were in full swing very nearby. Once we were tucked into our very comfortable apartment, the street sounds could no longer be heard. The kitchen was well equipped the beds were comfortable, the wifi easy to access, the decor was tasteful and everything was very clean. The weather was cooler than usual and the heater was not working smoothly. Nancy's had a maintainance man there within a few hours and a heating repairman there the next day. The office was very responsive to questions and concerns before and during our stay. Access to stores, restuarants, CVS, and the beach was most convenient.

Tucson, AZComic-con 2012!
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed in Jason's Felspar apartment and loved it!
My wife, son and I planned on attending Comic-con with friends and decided to spend some extra time in San Diego. We found Nancy online and booked the rental due to it's location and proximity to public transit. Booking was simple and Nancy's staff stayed in touch with us throughout the process.
You really can't beat Nancy's Felspar apartments for location and cost. It's a great value: you're four blocks from the beach, right on the bus line and Trader Joe's is 200 ft out your back door. Pb (Pacific Beach) get's festive at night, but the apartment complex seems like it's far removed. We had drinks with our neighbors Friday night who informed us once you go out the back gate it's a big party (and it is). We're from Tucson and Garnet avenue reminded us of our Fourth avenue area between the U of a and downtown: an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants and vendors. We walked the beach almost every night. I lost 10 pounds from the walking we did (and I ate and drank a lot).
The apartment has everything you need: an adequately appointed kitchen, fans to bring the ocean breeze in, bikes, grills, beach equipment and more. The garage is a luxury in the area and fits a Honda Civic and CRV just fine. You do need to pay attention to what appliances are plugged in as we tripped the breaker twice while cooking breakfast, but it's an easy fix as the circuit panel is 20 feet away in the laundry room. The beds were comfortable although next time we visit I'll bring my own pillow. We kept the bedroom window open every night although my son didn't as he had a busy restaurant on his side.
I met Nancy on our third day there. We talked about the area, what we liked about the apartment and things she was improving. She said she's converting all the master bedrooms to king beds, but I told her it I didn't think that was necessary.
All-in-all this is a great place to stay, is family friendly and we will return next year.

Left on 08/22/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The rental was as advertised. The location was within good walking distance of the beach and grocery stores. The linens and towels were all clean and of good quality and quantity. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, cookware, etc. Liked having the garage to park in, since the street was quite often crowded. The only thing that we really missed having was air-conditioning!

Gilbert, ArizonaWe had a blast!!
Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
All in all, we had a super time. Check in was easy and all was mapped out from the instructions. The apartment
was neat and clean and very comfortable. There were a few things I wanted to let you know about. The bikes for starters-- they are not of great quality and are actually in need of some repair--not sure how often they are serviced but the ones we used were not in great condition--if you are adding them as an amenity, that is something you need to re-think--either get new ones every so often or keep the ones you have serviced..Also, there was no aC in the apartment--not a really big deal but most folks are coming from out of state and are used to aC. It should be mentioned in the initial paperwork that the place does not have central aC and that fans are used...if it was mentioned, I did not see it...
Other then that, the place was great...

We have recently purchased 4 new bikes and took two in for servicing for a bent rim/spokes and another with a broken chain. It would be very nice if guests let us know when one of the bikes need servicing due to something they caused (your renters insurance pays for the repairs) as it is very difficult to keep up with our inventory of well over 100 bicycles in our 54 rentals. I advertise 8 shared bikes at this property but in reality there are 12 so there should always be at least 8 in good condition.
As for AC, it is so rare in the San Diego beach area (90% of rentals and private homes in the beach area do not have A/C) that we only mention AC if it has it (and the price is higher in those units, of course). Nancy -

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The home was in a good location near grocery stores and proximity to the beach. The home was nice but the master bedroom had sand in the sheets when we got there and the bed in the second bedroom was much more comfortable than the master. We came out one morning to our garage being open because the people parked next to us did not have a remote to close their garage. We were not given a code to get in the back gate until someone that was staying there gave us the code to get in the gate. It was nice to get easy access to the beach and other locations within the San Diego market.

Left on 09/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011
From the get go...Nancy and her staff made the everything flow so easily in helping us finally take our summer vacation at first we weren't sure if the location from the beach was ok, it is 3 very long blocks, but the stocked bikes and boogies boards make it work. We ended up feeling that being off of the maind road and closer to all the local pizza joints/icecream places and of course Trader Joes was perfect for us. Glad we were there for a week prior to Labor Day, enjoyed the peace and quiet before the loud kids and tourist got there. We sat outside one eve and had a bbq with the neighbors and their kids in the nicely provided for patio table chairs and grill. I only gave 4 starts for cleaniness because the comforter and shams in the master bedroom really needed to be washed. I understand they don't always do this even in hotels, but this is much more like home, and they needed to be laudered and smell nice. them. Overall, we are plannng on going back next summer and staying in the exact same spot. Great place, Nice people, very affordable family vacation. Thanks Nancy

Very nice accommadations. Simple check-in. Only down side was late night noise on Saturday night but other nights were fine. Just one street over from bars and with early to bed family we woke up about 2 am with people probably leaving the bar but it only lasted 1 hr then it was quiet again and the kids slept through it. Nice walk to the beach and bay area. Enjoyed our stay

Left on 05/27/2011 for a stay in April 2011
The place met our basic needs, especially for the price we paid. Unfortunately, the kitchen smelled of fish, the main bed was extremely uncomfortable, and you could hear the neighbours outside as though they were sitting in the living room with us.
Response from Nancy's Vacation Rentals - 05/28/2011
Manager
I just called the people who are staying there for a month to see if they think the bed is uncomfortable and they said they thought it was fine. Hummm. It's only a couple years old and it was a pretty good bed. This is not the quietest neighborhood, being so close to the main street of Pacific Beach but I have double pane windows throughout and white noise machines in each bedroom. It is also our least expensive 2-bdrm rental. Maybe next time they can stay in a quieter location or not come during Easter week. I'm sorry it smelled like fish but when I saw this comment (over a month later) and went to check it, it did not smell like fish anymore. Nancy

Hercules, California, USANext to everything and economical
Left on 02/03/2011 for a stay in January 2011
This place is next to everything; restaurants, groceries, liquor stores. The price is right for a reasonably-priced vacation in SD. It is not luxurious; no dishwasher, a bit too close to the street, away from the beach by a good way. But for the price and for Nancy-style service, you cannot beat it. We used it to attend a conference and it was a more than adequate place for us since we really did not spend much time there and had no need for luxurious surroundings. Comfortable and clean, near to everything. And you cannot beat the service that Nancy offers.

Seattle, WAGreat Times in San Diego
Left on 10/20/2010 for a stay in July 2010
I had a fabulous and amazing summer on Felspar Street, surfed great waves right out front and had good sessions throughout San Diego at other beaches as well. The apartment was nice, clean, and had all the amenities I needed. I'm a low frills guy so for me it was perfect, the only disadvantage is the location if you can't handle being close to bars and nightlife. Didn't bother me but I could see some people wanting to be a little further away from the main strip. The neighbors were very nice, invited me to events and introduced me to many people in San Diego.

Tucson, AZRelaxing and Fun
Left on 07/15/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We had a fun time at this apartment. It was within walking distance to many places to eat and a couple of grocery stores. The beach is about a mile down the street, so we ended up driving because we had small kids. We found a great park not too far away, on the mission bay side (Felspar Park). It was a great place for the little ones because they could play in the water and not get knocked down by the waves. The only down side was the parking if you came home late. Since we did not fit in the garage provided, we have a truck; we had to compete with the partiers going to the many bars that are on the next street. We ended up paying $5 to park across the street and moved it once the bars closed. The check –in with Nancy’s staff was a very smooth. We had a great time and would rent there again.

Left on 06/09/2010 for a stay in June 2010
As always, I was impressed by the accommodations provided by Nancy's Vacation Rentals. The apartment had most of the necessities (although, not as many as there were 2 years ago). The proximity to the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, etc was great! We did a lot of walking, which was nice especially because the weather was wonderful. Loved the sound machines - didn't hear a peep from the bar crowd. Thanks for making our vacation that much more wonderful!

This is the second rental we have used through Nancy's Vacation Rentals. And, just like the first rental, this one was great. There was plenty of room for myself, my daughter and her two grade school age boys. We loved the location - so close to shopping, restaurants and the beach. We had everything provided that we could possibly need - plenty of clean towels bed linen etc - plus washing facilities right next to our apartment. I'm planning to return some time in October - can't wait!!!

Left on 06/03/2010 for a stay in May 2010
The apartment was a great bargain. So close to the beach and shops, right where everything is happening. What more could you ask for. They provide all the things you need for beach, towels, chairs, umbrella, toys. The bunk beds are great for children and overall the space is great. Since we had some mold on dishes in the kitchen, and the place wasn't properly swept, I am not sure that the high price for the cleaning is justified. But other than that, we were very happy with the rental.

I was visiting San Diego to see my sons who live there. I loved renting the home on Felspar. It was a great location, close to restaurants, shops and the beach. The house was great cause the boys were able to stay with me, and it felt like a home away from home. We never really had to drive anywhere, we could walk to whatever we needed. We would definitely look into staying there again.

We loved the place, had lots of room and was clean. Only thing I didn't expect was the no air conditioner, coming from az I thought everyone and every place had one. Even though it was warm during the day we didn't notice because we were at the Beach, which was in walking distance. Would recommend to friends and family!

We stayed here over a year ago but it was very nice. I had several team mates with me and it worked out just fine. close to the restaurants and night clubs if you want that. Depends on your group if you would like it or not. If you are expecting 5 star hotel acomodations this is not the place. If you are looking for a clean place for a bunch of you to stay a long weekend this is perfect.
