This Hidden Jewel on Zanzibar Court in Mission Beach has a magnificent FULL Ocean View! The new interior is professionally decorated with a nautical theme. This great spot is just 20 steps from the sand and ocean and can sleep up to 7 people. There is a very large studio with a queen bed. There is a mirrow above it reflecting the beautiful ocean view. In the same room, there is a queen sofa sleeper. In the small bedroom there is a double and single bunk beds with a small TV.

We loved being able to run out to the beach quickly and easily. The air and water were chilly, so we didn't spend very long at the beach, but our son really wanted to spend a little time there every day.
San Diego is a fabulous place to visit. There is so much to do and Mission Beach is convenient to most attractions. I highly recommend the Hidden Jewel. -

I had my second annual visit to this wonderful spot, and I can't say enough good things about it. Convenient, well appointed, beautiful views, etc. The weather in april-August is fantastic, with beautifully long days and you will love the way this property is set slightly back from all the beach noise!

This is our last day in this hidden gem in mission beach. If you are looking around stop here! I can't say enough about the accomodation and the location. Every morning someone in my family has gone for a run on the path by the beach. Awesome to people watch from our living room. We had 2 kids and 2 adults and it was absolutely perfect. Ralph's and CVS and restaurants are within walking distance. The neighbours are so friendly. Jim was very welcoming when we arrived and having a parking spot was a bonus. Brendan Heath handled our reservation and was quick to respond and answer any questions that we had. Honestly, I can say that this is a rental that we will definitely return to. The kids are so sad to be leaving this home and my husband asked if we could stay here forever. We will miss the beach, location and the people. Rent here. You will not be disappointed.

I booked this condo based on the positive Trip advisor reviews and am extremely happy that I did.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week long vacation in San Diego. The location of the condo was perfect - on the ocean with the bay just across the main street. Sightseeing attractions such as the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, Old Town, downtown San Diego, and La Jolla are only a 15-20 minute drive away. The beach itself is beautiful; we enjoyed some time just sunning ourselves.
The views of the ocean from the condo are amazing. It was wonderful seeing the ocean in the morning while drinking my coffee and watching the sunsets at night. If you keep the windows open at night, you can hear the waves crashing on the shore.
The condo is clean and comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. Extra touches such a a savings card for Ralph's supermarket and a pass to the pool at the resort across the street let you know the owners really care. The condo looks just like the pictures on this site. We felt like we had our own apartment on the beach.
You also get one spot in a garage below the condo which is great since parking is hard to find. There are two bikes which we enjoyed riding on the Mission Beach boardwalk and along the walk/bike paths around the bay. Beach chairs, toys, etc, are also provided for your use.
The owners, Jim and Debbie, are friendly people who make sure you have a wonderful stay. We hope to return next year. -

The Hidden Jewel is Mission Beach's best kept secret. It may be small in square footage, but it has everything you need to have a wonderful vacation. It is very well apportioned and perfectly stocked with all the essentials you need to "live" in a home. It is decorated beautifully and when we stay there, it feels like our family's personal vacation home. It is centrally located in Mission. The garage is large and can fit a large SUV and as many bikes/boogie boards/chairs/umbrellas/etc. that you bring along. If you don't have space to pack such items, The Roths provide everything you need to hit either the beach or the boardwalk on wheels. The Roths are a lovely couple who are devoted to making your stay comfortable and enjoyable. They live in the front house and are almost always available if you have any issues/questions/concerns about the condo. I cannot say enough positives about this unit. I recommend it to all of my friends, because it really is Mission Beach's best kept secret.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Zanzibar Condo. The view was just amazingly beautiful,and the condo was super clean, modern and equipped with everything you could possible need. The owners were terrific, they were very helpful with anything we needed. We definitly enjoyed our stay and look forward to many returns.

We had a wonderful week here. The view was incredible and steps from the sand. Shopping was very convenient and we had no problems at all. The weather in august was perfection. Dolphins seen almost daily! Sunsets were epic! The owners are really very nice people and always available! Thanks!

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about this little internet find. Our family of 5 (Mom/Dad, 3 boys 18,12 and 9) throughly enjoyed our stay with Jim and Debra. The apartment/condo is literally steps to the beach. Shopping is close, fun restuarants are close. Mission Bay, walk to it.. purchased in advance a couple Groupon/Livingsocial deals; paddleboard rentals and a jetski rental, took a mid-week road trip to Disney, went to Coronado, went to downtown SD visited the USS Midway. The apartment/condo while small is just fine for a vacation. Clean, well appointed, comfortable, handled the everydayness that comes with 3 boys (i.e. sand, wet feet, wet swimsuits, frisbees, beach toys, multiple loads of laundry, lots and lots of collected shells). Everything you might need to cook with is there. Jim and Debbie have thought of all your needs in regards to a lovely beach stay. We will definitely stay again with or without the kids.

This was a wonderful location. Very near many things to do. Debbie and Jim were wonderful hosts who live right next to the unit. They promptly answered any questions we had and are lovely people. We made good use of the bikes to get everywhere quickly. It is our hope to be able to be guests at this home again soon that Jim and Debbie graciously shared with us. We are missing watching the dolphins, swimmers and surfers from the windows already.

My 3 friends and I stayed at The Hidden Jewel during a break from medical school. It was honestly the most relaxing and wonderful stay we could have hoped for. We arrived much later than we had planned, and Debbie and Jim waited up for us to unlock the door and welcome us to Mission Beach. Debbie was very easy to reach throughout the planning process and also during our stay when we had questions. The rental was beautiful! Everything was impeccably clean and the place looked like it had been recently redone. The beds and couch were very comfortable and the location can't be beat. It is one house back from the beach on the ocean side of the peninsula,, but built above the garage so there is an unobstructed view of the ocean and the dolphins swimming in it. The garage was very large and fit our 4-door sedan easily. The back deck also overlooks the ocean and has a table, chairs, and grill. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you could want, including spices and coffee, which we all needed after our nights out in Pacific Beach, which was within walking distance. Downtown San Diego and the gas lamp district were only a short cab ride away. This area is great for people of all ages, and Debbie and Jim were the perfect hosts.

This was one of the best vacations that I've had in a long time. The location is right off the beach. There are restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. I stayed with my wife and 2 small children, and it fit us very well with room to spare. After the kids were put to bed, we would have some wine and watch the waves in the moonlight at the large window by the table. The views are breathtaking. The owners are great. I would recommend this rental for anyone. It doesn't get too much better than this!

We spent 7 days at this rental over this past easter week, it had everything we needed to play, relax and have a great Vacation! First off the beach is less than 40 feet away from the apartment/condo (great views of the beach from the west side windows). You are 30 feet away from on a 3 mile long walk/bike path along the beach. The condo contained everything we needed to cook our meals and clean ourselves up. Our favorite baby sitter was at the house, a 50 inch TV with Direct TV access and a smaller TV in the bedroom was clear with alot of channels. We had a real garage with beach supply's available for our use.
We were 10 minutes from Seaworld and 20 minutes from the Zoo or downtown SD. 1/2 mile to to Restaurant row on Garnet ave. We ate at several places, Hoboken Pizza was excellent!! The whole family enjoyed our home away from home, We would stay again in a heartbeat! -

If you're looking for a beachfront experience with some privacy, this is the place. Most of the rental places in Mission Beach are either facing the boardwalk with people looking right in your window, or facing your neighbors from 20 feet away. This place has excellent beach access with gorgeous views of the beach and water from the whole front side of the unit plus the added benefit of feeling completely private from neighbors or the public passers-by. My favorite things were the views and how sunny the place was (lots of windows).
The furnishings are more upscale than most rental places I looked at as well and I loved the crushed ice/water machine integrated with the fridge. It also comes with a large flat-screen TV/full cable, internet, a sunny deck/barbecue and covered garage parking spot.
The owners are very responsive to any problems or issues (which were very seldom when I stayed there). There are lots of good restaurants nearby as well.
The weather is reasonably good from Jan-March, but the sunshine, beach volleyball and people-watching is really good in april.
I know this all sounds too good to be true... but there is a price... :) I came for a couple of weeks and stayed longer because I liked it so much. I hope to go back again next year.

This was my first time staying at this rental in Mission
Beach and all I can say is wow!
From the beautiful decor to the incredible ocean view
We have 2 kids and the layout was perfect
The kids slept in the room with the bunkbeds which has a flat
Screen and we slept in the queen bed off the living room.
I loved waking up to that view and that we could hear
The waves crashing when we left our kitchen window
Open! The kitchen is by the way fully stocked with all that we
Needed and my husband loves that the garage
Was a true size garage that could fit our SUV
With no problem! We walked to the many restaurants
and really enjoyed the location! We can't wait to come
Back to the Hidden Jewel. This will be our place year after

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Beach in this vacation home. We were a hop, skip and a jump from the ocean with an amazing view right from the family room. The bunk beds were great for our girls to have a quiet nap time. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook any meal we wanted, complete with grill on the patio. The family room, master bed area was open and very family friendly. All in all, it was the perfect escape from the sand and sun and we can't wait to go back! So many restaurants within walking distance too.

What an amazing trip, one that we will not forget! We haven't taken a vacation for three years, we stayed here with our 2 boys and had a great time. The location was incredible, early morning quiet beaches and georgeous sunsets. Picture perfect weather not to mention the vacation rental made us feel right at home. Decorated nicely, we enjoyed every minute. We recomend breakfast at Konos and a long walk down the Crystal Peir to start your vacation right. We enjoyed hours on the beach with the comfort of home just steps away. We can't wait to come back.
