    Additional Location Information

Welcome to Ocean Beach, a small beach community a few miles northwest of downtown San Diego. OB is about as unpretentious as San Diego beach living gets. Sunny days are punctuated with waves pounding the coastline of Sunset Cliffs. It's a place where Halloween and New Year's Eve are high holy days, and the O.B. Chili Cook Off, the Christmas Parade, and the 4th of July fireworks show are annual traditions. Wednesdays' Farmers Market is a must!

In many ways, it's kind of a quiet sleepy place that time forgot. It's one of the few places left in San Diego (or the rest of the country for that matter) where the shops are locally owned and managed, and there isn't a Baby Gap and a Pottery Barn on every corner. Well, at least not yet. A few years ago Starbucks moved in, and it caused quite a controversy. Many communities would welcome a Starbucks - it means gentrification. For OBecians, it means homogenization, something that for the most part has not taken firm root in our beloved little community. And we like it that way.

Anyway, there's a lot to be said for this funky little beach town, with its unique collection of antique stores, restaurants, musicians, activists, bikers, and artists.

Ocean Beach is a beachfront neighborhood of San Diego, California. Ocean Beach lies on the Pacific Ocean at the estuary of the San Diego River, at the western terminus of Interstate 8. Located about 7 miles northwest of Downtown San Diego, it sits south of Mission Bay and Mission Beach and directly north of Point Loma.

The Cottage is Located a short block to the beach, and only minutes from Sea World. We are 5-10 minutes away from Old Town, Downtown & the Gaslamp District, the Embarcadero, the Maritime and the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museums, & Coronado is just a short drive across the San Diego Bay Bridge.

      Great Location!!

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This is an old school OB cottage. It's a short walk to the beach. It's also a short distance to my favorite San Diego brewery Pizza Port!!! Booking and check in are done easy and Yasmine is a pleasure to deal with. The only negatives are that it is in the direct flight path of the airport making for alot of noise from 6am to 10pm and the shower is very small. that being said I would recommend this for a nice beach get away!

We enjoyed our stay in Ocean Beach at the Seahorse Cottage. It was just as we expected based on the information online. It was great to have a full kitchen, place was very clean and awesome to be so close to the beach! We would stay here again and recommend to any one!
      Thank you

      Cozy cottage, excellent location!

Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My husband and I enjoyed our stayed here with our two year old son. You can't beat the location. Such a close walk to the beach and many restaurants and shops. The cottage was definitely small but big enough for the three of us for a 3 night stay. We would have needed a bigger place if we were going to stay longer. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. It was really convenient to have a fenced in yard so our son could play outside without worrying about him running into the street. I would definitely recommend this place for 2-3 people who don't plan on staying for a long time.

      What a charming stay!!!

We stayed in the Sea Horse Cottage over Memorial Day weekend and truly enjoyed ourselves!! Such a cute place! It was very clean and well put together! The owners were very easy to work with. The bed was comfy and the space was perfect for the two of us! When they say "close to the beach” they mean it. We were able to pack a little cooler and our beach chairs and mosey right down to the water with no effort! We prepared light meals in the kitchenette and enjoy evening cocktails on the private patio. We will be back!

Thanks Yasmin for the wonderful stay!

A wonderful way to stay in Ocean Beach

Left on 10/18/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The Seahorse Cottage is small, but traveling with one person makes it a good place to stay. There is no real table on which to eat, so unless you eat on the deck, on the table that seems associated with the main cottage, you have to eat off the coffee table, or eat out.

The internet is slow and goes out unexpectedly. The modem then needs to be re-booted and this is located in the main cottage, which is a significant negative, that needs to be addressed.

A real positive is the comfort of the bed! We slept well and were completely comfortable.

The cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood, so there is not a lot of noise. Also, the beach itself is so close, you can hear the surf breaking on the beach.

      Perfect Cottage

Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Delightful efficiency cottage right in the heart of Ocean Beach. Walking distance to Newport ave., the pier, Dog Beach, shops, and restaurants!! Off-street parking is an added bonus as parking is at a premium in OB. The cottage is painted in coastal colors that are so inviting. Full-sized refrigerator and adequate stove. (We fit a huge tray of baked beans in the oven just fine!) We rented the Seahorse Cottage due to its proximity to our son's apartment half a block away. It couldn't have been more convenient. We all were able to enjoy the outside deck which was great for having morning coffee or juice while we decided on the day's agenda! Yasmin answered all our questions and was so quick to respond. All correspondence and payment was done very securely and efficiently!! The step-up bathroom took a little getting used to, but we mastered it during our stay! I would certainly recommend this little OB cottage to a couple looking for a locals-type get-away...surrounded by residents rather than tourists. Great value and location!

A delightful experience had by adults, children, and teenagers.

Left on 07/17/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We rented two cottages from you in June. We were absolutely pleased with the property and services. Everyone who contacted us was helpful and courteous. The houses were close to the beach, the wharf, and the small shopping area. We really enjoyed the delightful street fair on Thursday evening. The houses were clean and much nicer than the internet pictures indicated. We loved being able to use the kitchen. It was well-stocked and met our needs more than anticipated. The use of the washer-dryer was appreciated and used a lot. We would and have recommended these facilities to friends and family and will certainly consider them again next year. They were easy to reach and everything we wanted to do was within short distance, i.e. Sea World and Mission Beach board walk and carnival. Our vacation was one of the best ones we've had at the beach and we feel lucky to have chosen this property from all the choices we had. Price was good, location was great, cottages were very nice...just exactly what we needed with kids. We had expected to have to clean the houses at the end of the week. Were surprised that we had to do only the smallest of tasks. We had the advantages of all the above plus the cleaning service at the end of the stay. Great! Thank you for a wonderful vacation. We have talked it over and can't think of anything we could suggest that would make the deal any better. Enjoyed it all.

      Outstanding place! Outstanding location!

Left on 04/01/2011 for a stay in March 2011

This cottage was absolutely outstanding. The location could not have been better. A block from the beach, in a very cool beach community, 5 minutes from sea world, 10 from the airport, 15 from the zoo, and about 15 from all the popular downtown attractions. There was great places to eat within blocks and some cool surf shops to check out. The bed was nice, shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. It is small, but is amazing for 2 people. It was very clean, nicely decorated, and had all the amenities. The worst complaint I can muster is that there were a few light bulbs out, so how bad could it have been. The parking spots in the back were very convenient. I would recommend this to anyone over a hotel room, plus the price is right! I will definitely stay there again when I return to San Diego.

      Amazing!

Left on 02/25/2011 for a stay in February 2011

I just returned from a wonderful long weekend at the Seahorse Cottage in Ocean Beach. My friend and I went for a girls trip to relax and rejuvenate. We were hoping the cottage was as amazing as it looked online and were pleasantly surprised as it was even more charming (if
that is at all possible). The location was perfect for what we were looking for. We were one block from almost everything including the beach, a cozy coffee shop with delicious, fresh breakfast and lunch, and an affordable spa where we went to pamper ourselves! We were also walking distance from a yoga studio as well as all of the fun little boutiques and shops in Ocean Beach. We looked inside the two bedroom cottage in the front of the property and would love to stay there with a few more people next time. My friend and I both kept remarking on how absolutely perfect the cottage was. We loved it and will return for sure. My only hesitation in recommending this cottage is that it might fill up and not be available next time I want to go. :)

I made contact via telephone and was treated very professional. I received all cottage information via internet within 1 hour. The cottage was sensational it was exactly what I was looking for quite and close to beach. It's a 3 minute walk to beach. The concrete pier is in the area we went 3 blocks over to good Restaurants and nice Bars good party seen. I liked the best was the cottage so close to beach for that price. You can't beat the price. I would have liked to have aC as an option for the cottage.

      A week at the beach

Left on 07/11/2010 for a stay in July 2010

This cottage is walking distance to the beach, resturants and bars. As well as specialty shops and clothing stores. Location was first priority when choosing where to stay. We are no strangers to ocean beach & is no doubt the cool neighborhood (community) we've been visiting for more than 10 years and will continue to visit newport avenue in the future. We finally saved enough money to stay for six consectutive days. Newport Pizza and ale house has the best pizza. Nico's mexican food sells the best burritos (both breakfast and lunch).

Great accomodations at the seahorse, even though we only went there to sleep and shower. we spent the days riding bikes along the beach, catching waves at the beach, wensdays farmers market was a good time, great weather to be outside!!!

The property is very well secured with front and rear security locks and stout gates for privacy. I felt at ease with our possesions on the property. The washer and dryer on-site made things easy (especially returning everyday from the beach with dirty beach towels & suits..) Just be sure to save your casino quaters, because the washer and dryer are coin operated.

Check-in was alittle late in the day and it seemed as though half of our day was gone. Earlier check-in times would be great, say maybe 9am.

      We loved it!

Left on 05/27/2010 for a stay in April 2010

The Seahorse cottage was perfect for our needs. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate. The kitchen was well equipped, and the stove and refrigerator were more than adequate for our needs. It would have been nice to have another mirror in the cottage besides the one in the bathroom, and a bit of space to hang up clothes, but we were attending a formal event, so our need for another mirror and hanging space is a bit unusual for what is probably mainly used as a vacation/beach cottage. The outside decking was beautiful and we enjoyed using the space. The washer/dryer combo was also great to have available. We did have a slight problem with the back gate from the outside, both locking and unlocking it, but that was the only problem during our stay. This is our first choice of places to stay in San Diego. We loved it!
