      Wow - loved it

What a fantastic place to stay - stayed in may 2012 for two weeks nothing was too much trouble for Elizabeth before our stay. The place was immaculate and well stocked - the children loved it and the Dvds kept them entertained in the evening - in close proximity to shops and restaurants, lovely safe neighbourhood
Would highly recommend this place cannot wait to stay again in the future

Cute house, good location to local attractions

Left on 08/03/2012 for a stay in July 2012

In general, we had a great stay at the cottage. It was centrally located to most SD attractions. It was just my husband, myself and our son so the smaller space was perfect. Not sure a larger family would be comfortable there. The cottage is nicely appointed and decorated, and it was clean. One bed was softer than the other, so you had your pick if you wanted softer or firmer. We come from a rural place so the constant planes going overhead, especially over the weekend nights, was tough to get used to, even with the windows closed. We are both light sleepers though, so this might not bother others. Also, not sure there is any where in San Diego that you would not hear the planes! It's not that big of a city! : ) The cottage is in an eclectic neighborhood and again, coming from a rural small town, we felt safe there. People in the area and in fact, all around S.D. were very nice and helpful. We never contacted the owner during our stay, (except to pick up and drop off the key) so I can't comment on whether or not she responds to questions or problems during the vacation week.
Probably our only recommedations for the owner would be more cleaning supplies, paper towels, ect. Also we chose a house over a hotel room so that we could cook in most meals so additional dinner plates, some non-stick cook pans and pans that do not have handles that get dangerously hot to the touch would be appreciated. As most people are flying in to rent this cottage and San Diego is such a beach town, beach towels and blankets would be nice as no one is going to be able to pack these heavy items. We ended up washing our shower towels almost every day so it was great to have the washing machine and dryer in the cottage. Overall, a good place to stay and with just a few added ammenities, it could be an almost perfect place for a small family or two couples to stay.

Just returned from our trip to San Diego and can truly say that the South Park Cottage made this one of the best stays in California I've ever had. The location was excellent, close to all the best San Diego attractions, the cottage was clean, loaded with great amenities, and Elizabeth and her staff were very helpful and quick to reply to emails and phone calls answering any questions we had. The furniture and beds were nice and comfortable, much better than you'd find in any average hotel room and the yard was beautiful and fragrant (you can smell the flowers as soon as you walk in the gate). The kitchen has everything you need to cook for yourself if you want to save some money on meals like we did and it was SO nice to have access to a washer and dryer during our stay. The TV with cable was great for our downtime between trips to the beach, Seaport Village, Sea World, and the San Diego zoo. Lots of fun stuff to do in downtown San Diego, but South Park is a cool little neighborhood in itself. Would love to stay here again!! :)

      Fantastic

Left on 02/06/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We stayed in the South Park Cottage for 3 nights with our 1 year old daughter and loved the cottage. Some might say that the neighborhood is a bit transitional, but we loved eclectic flair of it. There are several bars and restaurants, including a world famous beer house (Hamilton's Pub) within walking distance. There is a neighborhood market just around the corner and a full on grocery store about a mile away ) . Everything that we wanted to see (Zoo, Sea World, beaches, Old Town, Coronado Island) was no more than a 20min drive from the cottage and we felt we couldn't have stayed in a better location. The cottage itself is stocked with everything you could possibly need, then some. The beds were very comfortable, the cottage was clean and as beautiful as it is in the pictures. There is a great patio/grill and the yard is fenced in which was great for our 1 yr old. We felt we definitely got much more than we paid for and are already planning our next stay as 3 nights just wasn't long enough.

Lovely decorated cottage but some noise from planes

Left on 09/26/2011 for a stay in July 2011

I stayed here with my boyfriend and mother over the 4th of July weekend. The cottage is beautifully decored with a full kitchen and a washing machine and dryer. There are 2 bedrooms with a bathroom connecting the two and a outdoor area with grass, and a small patio in the front. Parking was very easy. Quiet street generally however it must have been on a flight path as we were woken up by planes during the night. The owner's son lives in the property behind the cottage - we never saw him, but just an fyi for future renters. We were given great information about local places to eat after we asked the owner for these. The only thing (and I'm not sure if this is common with vacation rentals) is that that company renting the property cannot accept credit cards. We live in the us, but are from another county so unlike many people that live in the us don't have many cheques to use. They were accommodating however and allowed us to pay cash upon arrival. It did take some time to get hold of the people though when we were around 40 minutes from the property and we had to call 3 times before we were able to reach someone. We also left 2 items at the property however, and it seemed to cause a bit of a bother getting these posted back to us in la, but all was solved in the end.

Great value vs a hotel/motel and enjoyed having all the comforts of home.

This was the first vacation rental I have booked, and so glad I did. It was as nice as a five star hotel, but without the worry of talking too loud or stepping too hard. I have children 14 & 9. The inside is impressive and comfortable. The property owner keeps in contact and responds quickly. It was affordable, so we could stay in town longer. The place is close to the Zoo and markets. It was nice to have the comforts of home.

Clean, comfortable & convenient home away from home

My girlfriend and I spent a fabulous 5 days at the South Park cottage after travelling from the UK and New Zealand respectively to meet up and catch up.

The cottage is perfectly located in a lovely neighbourhood but within easy reach of amenities and attractions. We also enjoyed exploring on bicycles hired (and delivered and collected to the cottage for free!) at a very reasonable price from Bike Revolution.

The cottage is very well equipped, clean and comfortable with all the necessary home comforts.

Booking and checking in was hassle free and Elizabeth and Sally were very helpful and friendly throughout the process.

If we ever stay in this part of California again, I'd have no hesitation in returning to South Park cottage.

Thanks Elizabeth and Sally for providing such a lovely home away from home.

We loved this cottage - it was a very comfortable place to base ourselves with our 2 little kids. It was nice for the kids to have a yard to run and crawl around in. Parking was very easy. It was so convenient to have a full kitchen with utensils, as well as a washing machine and dryer. We were even provided with some chocolate chip cookies. It was very easy to arrange key pick up and drop off. When we picked up the key, we were given some great suggestions for eating and visiting. We had a car but we also caught public transport and found the cottage was so central to everything we wanted to see. If you stay in San Diego, don't miss this cottage!

We stayed here most of a week while attending a science meeting downtown. We spent some pleasant time at the house doing paper work between meetings. It was marvelous to have a place to entertain a few friends in the evening within walking distance of great restaurants. We loved the whole experience and are eager to come back and do it again.
