Similarly to Villa Caribe's one and two bedroom properties, the Bonaire studio was named after the quaint, picturesque island of Bonaire in the Caribbean. This cute and affordable studio offers the perfect location for a romantic getaway; The Bonaire (320 sq. ft.) offers comfortable accommodations for two with a queen bed and a twin mattress in the leather love seat. This is a pet-friendly property.
Regarding Villa Caribe's location:
Three blocks to your left you'll find Sunset Cliffs Nature Park - a great place to spend the day exploring cl...iffs, caves, and tide pools!
Directly in front of you lies a spacious patio area – with a convenient gas BBQ, a small sandy “beach” area we created to enjoy cocktails and the breathtaking views of the sunset - and, of course, miles and miles of deep blue ocean where we often see migrating whales, playful pods of dolphins and adventurous surfers.
We are located on a small cliff overlooking an enchanting, rocky, tide pool-explorer's beach (and surfing area!). Enjoy unmatched ocean views from the property or head down to the beach - just a short 1/2 block walk away!
Six blocks to your right is the casual seaside town of Ocean Beach. Stroll along Newport Avenue and take in the array of small shops and boutiques. From antiques to surfboards, sandwich shops to ocean-front fine dining – and bars and taverns in between – Ocean Beach is friendly, informal, and fun! There are three beach cruiser bicycles in the garage to ride on the ocean boardwalk and the OB bike path. They are shared, on a first-come-first=served basis.
In the evening, enjoy cocktails while listening to the surf, or take a romantic stroll on the famous Ocean Beach pier, and enjoy the lights of San Diego from the over-water restaurant.
Be sure to catch the fireworks display from Sea World - only 10 minutes away! Return home to your ocean-front, cliff-side hideaway, enjoy some wine with a loved one, and listen to the waves crash on the beach. Paradise!
Villa Caribe is also close to all San Diego has to offer: 30 seconds from a rocky beach-explorer’s playground (beach access is a short walk around the block), 2 minutes to the heart of Ocean Beach, 6 minutes to the charming village of old Pt. Loma, with its shops, restaurants and the San Diego Yacht Club, 10 minutes to Sea World, Old Town, the Gas Lamp District, the airport, shopping at Fashion Valley Mall, 15 minutes to the World Famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park, and about 30 minutes to Legoland and the Wild Animal Park.
Nice property, but don't recommend the Bonaire`s studio

This property is nice with a hot tub, BBQ, yard that overlooks the Ocean and setting sun. The only thing is we realized the Ocean Beach area is a little bit more dumpy, gritty, trashy, frat boy, and grimy than we realized it would be. A little bit like Venice Beach in LA, but with a more San Diego vibe (so less artsy and culturally rich). We went at a quiet time so it wasn't too bad but if you go at a busy time you may get neighbors who would make the shared space much less enjoyable. I also do not recommend that Bonaire`s studio. Though the space is nice, beautiful appliances in the bathroom/kitchen, the bed is right up against a surprisingly busy alley with non-stop yelling, trucks, and chaos day and night. Not restful or peaceful AT ALL. Our little dog was on constant alert and there was a steady stream of cigarette smoke wafting through the tiny studio.
The property also does not have any of the amenities they promise. We asked for an umbrella since this was listed as present and available for use and the property manager said they might drop one by but never did. Nothing else that they list was available (chairs, etc) even on days when there were few other renters (so we knew it wasn't that everything was simply already in use). With the lack of responsiveness I would be nervous what they'd do if we reported a bigger issue. Could be a vacation ruiner to have management who cares so little about your experience once you've arrived. Read more
I'm sorry to hear that your stay wasn't ideal. The comfort and quality of our rental properties is important to us so we'll be sure to follow up on any concerns to improve the unit for the next guests. All amenities listed are shared among the other units. All of our properties are Non-Smoking, and had we known there was smoke coming into the unit we would have dealt with it right away. Have a wonderful day and thank you for your review. -The NVR Team
Perfect Place to Stay!

After looking up hotels in the San Diego are I realized it was going to be a pricey trip so I started searching for rentals. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Bonaire studio for about 5 days. Don't be turned away by the studio; there is plenty of room and a full kitchen. Looking at pictures provided made it seem too good to be true. There are a few other apartments connected to the building but we barely saw anyone while we were there. You have an awesome ocean view, big back yard (which no one has in this area) and I believe it was the best location in San Diego. We cruised all the way up to Oceanside Beach and down to Imperial. I think this location was perfect. You can walk to the 'downtown' area of Ocean Beach, see Sunset Cliffs, and Gaslamp District is not far away. The inside was adorable, clean, and made you feel right at home. Please consider staying here; the prices, views, and location cannot be beat!

Nice, small studio apartment. Perfect for a quick getaway near the beach. Be warned that all of the amenities are shared with multiple other units, so you do not have the fire pit, patio furniture or hot tub to yourself. Great location, but this studio is on an alley that people do walk/drive through frequently. Only 10 blocks from Newport Street in Ocean Beach.

The place was perfect for our little family of 3. The place was extremely clean and had enough room for everyone. Having a kitchen and access to laundry was a nice benefit. For the price, we couldn't have asked for more.

By far the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in. Everything in the rental from sheets and towels, kitchen equipment to the tables and chairs was clean and good quality. Nothing in the place felt cheap or like the owners were attempting to cut corners. The place felt loved and respected by it's owners. This kind of experience is rare for an affordable rental.
I would suggestion the addition of a rug. Having a dog with me, I so appreciated the tile floors but a rug in the middle of the room (in the studio) would have made the room a bit more comfortable. Also, the people staying above us had a dog and we could hear every step the dog made. Not a big deal but also something a rug could easy solve.
The front yard was fabulous. A firepit, a hot tub and an ocean view, it was exactly as the pictures showed. I do want to let the owners know that the patio chairs in the yard are due for a change. Many of them were split from sun/salt damage.
Thank you for a wonderful four days.
The guests above us (we stayed in Bonaire) were terribly loud ev

Although the location was right next to the ocean(making for a beautiful view in the evening) we still had to drive to get to an appropriate beachfront. We enjoyed mission beach the most, which was not too far of a drive.
Unfortunately the guests in the room above us were very rude and very loud. Every morning at 6am it sounded like they were stomping around and sliding furniture back and forth and back and forth. This went on for no less than 2 hours. We also were woken up by the garage that was right next to our room frequently. I would never stay in Bonaire again.
I liked the most that the rental was walking distance to all of the restaurants.

When I got there I was very lost so I called the after hours number to find out how to get to the studio. I left a message and waited for a call back "right away". No one ever called back.
I was lucky enough to find some late night partiers that knew where I needed to go. They pointed the way and I finally arrived.
Once I got there it was smooth sailing. The place was exactly as described and with the exception of the door to the courtyard banging when people went in and out (you could hear it through the wall), everything was wonderful.
I will definitely stay again!

We had a great time at Bonaire. It was very cozy, clean and fully stocked. The jacuzzi tub was a great addition.
It was a perfect place for my husband and I and our dog Laila. It was a perfect location as well. Close to the beach, the dog beach, great cafes and a short drive to downtown San Diego. We will definately be back.
Great space and ammenities

The home was great, the kitchen served all my needs and some of the amenities really made it a great place. I rented a small studio, and small is a bit of an understatement, but it was just for me and the photos on the website were honest and clear about the size.
The whole place was cozy, and the hot tub was great. Also- onsite laundry: awesome!
There were some nitpicks: I wasn't renting a car there (just taking the bus and using Car2Go) and they provided three awesome cruiser bikes to get around the beach. The problem is that these bikes do not appear to be maintained and the handlebar hinges on two of them were lose and came undone, which is a safety issue. Nancy's, you might want to throw in a few helmets as well. Paper towels were provided, but it looked like someone had spilled coffee on them. The OB locations are also situated a little far from the action... but it's not too bad.

The studio has everything you need, well equipped and very nicely decorated. The patio is just perfect for sitting there and listening to the ocean and the location is just great! You dont even need a car. I will come back.

We loved the service we recieved and loved any interaction we had with management. We like the room and how homey it was. It was clean and had everything there we could have asked for. The only complaints we would have is the matress was stained very badly underneath all the sheets. Also there was some dripping from the roof onto our car which left a brown residue on the back end of our car. But we enjoyed the location. It is very close to Sea World and not too far from the San Diego Zoo. Also was under 30 mins away from Coronado Island. We liked the location the best and the dripping on the car and the matress the least.

We were disappointed to find ourselves on a very busy alley. Although the property was right on the ocean, our apartment did not have a view of it. The apartment was very adequate, and the items we called about were quickly remedied. We didn't plan our trip far enough in advance to be picky about the location, so most of our disappointments were our own fault. Nancy and her staff were very accomodating and professional. We will definitely contact her again if we plan to visit the San Diego area. Having free laundry equipment available was a nice plus that wasn't expected. On arrival, at night, much later than we planned, we couldn't find the apartment and finally called the emergency number. The person who answered was extremely helpful, staying on the line until we found the right apartment and our parking spot. The parking was also problematic, being a very specific spot in the alley. One of us always had to get out of the car to be sure we weren't blocking a garage door or hitting some electrical equipment at the other end of our spot. On the other hand, we got to wear light jackets nearly every day, which was wonderful for a couple of Zonies.

For a very special few days, we stayed in Ocean Beach. It was fantastic, and just right. The location, views, proximity to the romantic cliffs, chairs available to watch the sunset, were perfect. The room was just what we needed (though the bed, on wheels on the hard floor, did move around a good bit). The service was prompt and easy and responsive.
Really just about perfect.

We stayed at the studio and loved it! It is convenient to eveything and easy to get around the area...close to anything and everything you could possibly need. Studio was perfect for us...outside area to hang out in and get some sun and the view of the ocean--Fantastic. Will definatley be coming back!
Cozy and comfortable, but some disappointments
Left on 05/01/2012 for a stay in April 2012 | Molly
Every one we spoke to was helpful, friendly and polite. I was disappointed when the DVD player and Internet was broken they fixed it but didn't make up for our ruined evening. Our first vacation without our daughter since she was born 2 years ago.
The studio was as I expected, small but well appointed and cozy. No view out windows, but we knew that. The right price! The sheets & towels weren't new, but clean (no beach towels though). The bedspread had hair on it (dog, person?), so we pulled it off the bed and didn't use it while we were there.
We brought bicycles and it was a quick ride to OB for delicious, well priced cafes, the pier and beaches. One day we rode all the way to Pacific Beach and back. It was a quiet neighborhood and a quick drive to San Diego downtown for nights out.
The hot tub was the cleanest we've seen and easy to use. We could hear the ocean waves at night out the window. The tiny kitchen was good for the size. It was nice to have the large mirrors on the closet. We didn't use the bath tub with the jets, but it was a good feature. I was happy there was a hair dryer.
Liked Least: Construction or cleaning upstairs at 8am most mornings. Somewhat understandable mid week, but not ideal for vacation. On a night we planned to stay in we discovered a broken wine glass in the cabinet, the DVD player didn't work with our rented Red Box Dvds and the Internet went down so we couldn't even stream. I didn't feel that it was an "emergency" to call their after hours number (we discovered the DVD & Internet issue around 10pm) and so we waited until the next morning. They were apologetic and polite and sent someone over that day to fix it, but it was our last day. They did not offer to make it up to us, just politely apologized. Lost evening.
Overall we enjoyed it and would probably consider the studio or any of the other apartments at Villa Caribe for another vacation.

we were pleasently suprized with how clean this little place was and how it had "everything" that we needed for our stay... the view from the back yard was very relaxing to look out at the ocean and see surfers and even a seal. The location was great, it seems every single place we wanted to see was within 45min at most. recommend wild sarfari park, sea world, coronado island, and all the sea towns north of san diego, and a favorite, torrey pines state park...loved this area and will be back again!

Booked the Bonaire studio at the last minute for a weekend stay and Nancy was very accommodating. The studio was clean and comfy. Although lacking a window view, a walk out to the property reveals an amazing view at the start of Sunset Cliffs. The only downside was the parking situation, as it is outside and extremely tight for a sports-sedan. Perfect little spot for the value conscious traveling with a pet.
