We wanted to buy a vacation home that embodied a number of unique combinations: modern, high end finishes combined with comfortable and 'livable' furnishing; a quaint neighborhood that was just minutes to the heart of downtown and all major attractions; and finally a place that offered the breathtaking views of a high-rise luxury condo, yet maintained the privacy of a single family home. We found this place online and our reservation and booking process was way smoother than any hotel I'd ever been to! What can I say? The bed was super comfortable, kitchen well appointed and shiny, and the views from the living room were spectacular. After looking for a long time this was hands down the best deal we found in San Diego on such a high end place. My wife and I will definitely be back!

Nicely decorated and clean lower floor condo. Owners were friendly and helpful. The master bedroom mattress was extremely comfortable. However, if you are a light sleeper, you will hear the planes each morning. The location is literally sitting above the airport and even though several previous reviewers stated they did not have an issue, we did. In addition, there is not much sound barrier between the two floors, so you will also hear movement from upstairs. If you are a sound sleeper, then know that the condo is conveniently located and clean.

As the guest mentioned, she is the only one of all our guests in the past 18 months who had an issue with the noise. The house underwent a $120k remodel, which included acoustically rated windows and doors. Also, its unfortunate that none of these concerns were voiced when we met the guests several times (and they seemed super happy!) as we could have assisted in making alternate arrangements. Please know that any properties within a 2-3 mile radius of downtown/Little Italy will have A LITTLE airplane noise, as this is an urban environment and we have an urban airport! As most guests say, the amazing views and close proximity to all the attractions is more than worth it. Thanks for staying with us and for your candid feedback.

We enjoyed our stay. The view was wonderful, even the airplanes landing - the noise was not a problem because the bedrooms are in the back. The trolley system was just a fes blocks away although it was a little fun getting across the one street and the overpass isn't the greatest place. The condo was very clean and nicely laid out. Off street parking is available although it took a little manuvering to get into. The laundry was seperate and only for guests staying 2 weeks or more (which the vrbo site doesn't mention) but the owners kindly let us use it. Also, don't forget to bring toilet paper. Would I stary here again - yes.

Thanks for the comments and glad to hear you had a great time! Sorry to hear you ran out of toilet paper... the top shelf in the hallway cupboard is fully stocked, and of course, we are always available by phone to assist guest. No need to bring your own TP!

Two couples in town for a long weekend. Found this condo quite comfortable and cozy from the minute we walked in. two large bedrooms, and beautiful living room with the most warm and inviting decor. We had dinner on the deck one night and walked to Little Italy and Balboa Park each day. What a treasure to have this place to lay our head at night. Airport Very close by, but kinda cool after you get used to it.

I went with three other people and the house was great. Location was very good..right near downtown san diego. Also right near the train station.. We didnt have a car and it was very convenient. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was amazing.. I would definitley stay hear again

My stay was amazing. The location is perfect. A 3 min drive from San Diego airport you will find this gem of a home. You are in walking distance to attractions of all kinds. Balboa park is minutes away. Try the zoo if you have children or teenagers. If want to get in a quick run, the park boasts many trails for the athletic. For a relaxing bite to eat, you can walk to Little Italy. Or if take a short cab ride, you can check out downtown San Diego for a little club action. Looking for a beach?? Then you are at the right place. Within minutes you will find various beaches. There is so many things do within 10 mins of this place. I don't have enough space to list them here. You will not be disappointed with a trip to San Diego. As for the home/rental, the home is extremely clean, the amenities are updated and very modern. The decor is very relaxing. You will enjoy reading a good book sitting on the back patio. I can not say enough about this place. Sooo glad I found it!!! I will be back. Loved it!!! I would reccomend to everyone.

My husband and I stayed January and February at this wonderful property. We are a 60 plus retired couple who were looking to get away from the coldest time in Michigan and could not have picked a better place to do so. The property is extremely comfortable, clean, and well equipped with everything we needed for our extended stay. Close to everything, top sightseeing places, beaches, shopping, restaurants, and much more, many within walking distance. The view from the picture windows and patio of the San Diego bay, Coronado is breathtaking. We will miss the awesome sunsets! Danny and Michelle are incredible hosts, and we will definitely come back. Highly recommend!

It's in a great location with a great view. The rental looked the same as the pics posted online. It was clean and well stocked with items (cups, plates, blow up mattress, coats, etc) that you may need. The owners put together a ice book with local restaurants, map of immediate area and check-in/out instructions which was helpful. We had a great time and would look at this place again if we come back

I have had the opportunity to stay at the property at 2862 State St a total of three times now. While each visit to San Diego was for different reasons and with different groups of people, the same things that I love about this property hold true throughout. First, the property is in a great location. One trip I needed to be downtown, another I spent most of my time near Balboa, and the other was focused on Sea World and other attractions. This location is ideal as is close to everything. And by close, I mean really close. Second, this is not your average hotel room. This is a hip place with a killer view. The owner has it decorated very nicely and all of the amenities are quite nice. They even let us use beach cruisers to explore the area. Finally, there was ample space for everyone. It had two bedrooms as well as a large living space with couches, chairs, and dining area. The outdoor space was great as well.

My husband and I, both middle-aged, stayed at this condo for a week. It is beautiful and comfortable. It's situated on a hill above the city. The view is absolutely amazing, it's a 360 degrees panorama of the entire city, including the sky screapers of downtown, the bay with its ships, an airport where we could watch toy size planes taking off and landing. The view is very dramatic with constantly changing action. The condo is decorated in mostly modern style, with easy access to Littly Italy, downtown and Balboa Park. The hosts were very hospitable and made sure we had everything we need. We would highly recommend this vacation paradise to everyone.

My wife and I rented this property July 1 - July 18, 2011 and it was fantastic. The location could not be better - it's located near I-5 so you have quick access to any part of San Diego within minutes. If you prefer a nice walk, the San Diego harbor, Little Italy or downtown is a 5-20 minute walk depending on where you want to go. If you want to simply stay at the property and relax you have awesome views of the San Diego harbor and airport. You can actually watch planes land and take off from the patio, it's really neat! The property is a good size and includes a updated kitchen, large living area with huge bay windows and two bedrooms. It's nicely furnished and reasonably priced. Simply put it's brilliant for a short or long term stay in San Diego. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I stayed at this nice 2 bedroom property for one week in april. Location is great, easy to get to all that San Diego has to offer: great restaurants, the harbor, downtown, Balboa Park, and Saturday Farmer's Market in Little Italy. The property itself is beautifully decorated, immaculate, and very comfortable. It has all the modern amenities including flat screen TV with all the channels, high speed internet, washer and dryer, 2 bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Owners were so very gracious and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay completely. Highly recommend this place for any San Diego visitors. Will stay here again when we return to the area.

Stayed in this gorgeous hillside house for Comic Con 2012. I first thought it might be a little far from the action, but my friends and I all greatly appreciated this calm oasis in the Con madness. This vacation house is spacious and bright, beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. Close to the airport and the trolley, just up the hill from Little Italy, with fascinating views of planes taking off and landing.. oddly enough, we couldn't hear any of it unless the patio doors were open. Danny and Michelle are super friendly and very communicative. All in all, the perfect place to stay in SD!
