Our second stay at Villa Nob Hill was just as pleasurable as the first. It's a great location, within walking distance to shopping, Chinatown, a 12 minute drive to Ucsf and much more. The beds are comfortable and we sleep really well in them. The apartment has the 'Old San Francisco' feel and charm. The manager Barbara is on site and more than accommodating. If you need help navigating the city or any information for that matter, she will help.

We stayed at Villa Nob Hill,Casablanca - Apartment #3 for 10 nights in august 2012 and generally were very happy and satisfied with the unit. This is a very homely place, comfortable, nothing flashy. The location is second to none. We can walked to Chinatown or downtown in 10-15 minutes. At night, the noise outside can be a problem. The curtains are not blocked out type. For people who need sleeping in total darkness should bring eye mask. Also, the manager Barbara was there to greet us and showed us around when we arrived. Coming from overseas, we just don't want to deal with having to pick up keys from somehwere else etc.

I travel frequently, all over the world, and Villa Nob Hill has to rate amongst the nicest places I have stayed at. Apart from the sunlight, and the warmth, and the peacefulness, and the lovely decor (so much more interesting and spacious than a hotel); Barbara has a warmth about her, and skill at hospitality that is unsurpassed. She has a genuine gift - makes you feel like a cared for close friend, but without being in the slightest way obstrusive.
The location is also great. Most hotels are close to union square, or close to fishermans wharf, or close to something, but this is smack bang in the middle of the action - walking distance to pretty much everything.
I have had bad experiences before, and don't often leave reviews, but this was worth taking the time.
I also loved the full kitchen, which allowed me to make my own food. The space to work was also wonderful - I did not feel cooped up at all, like I usually do in a hotel. -

My first visit to San Francisco. Landed at night. After dinner reached the apartment and received by the owner. What a wonderful person to meet. In general I don't get sleep in new place. But here I felt my home and had very sound sleep.
The place was just right to walk to my work place, which is 15 min walk (just the way I wanted). The apartment is so clean and well maintained.
Everything is just around the corner like Walgreens, restaurants, Bakery, shops. Less than two minutes walk to California St Cable Car or the Muni Bus.
Here after I will find the vacancy here first before I inquire any other place on my future visit to SFO.
If you are looking for homely, cool, clean, well maintained apartment for your stay. Check out this place first. -

The location of Villa Nob Hill was exceptional. We stayed in a front, street facing apartment. It took me a week or so to get used to the 'city noise' but eventually I did. (Earplugs can remedy that immediately) If you don't mind a little street noise, the front apartments are warm and sunny with a beautiful sunset. If you prefer something a little quieter then perhaps a back apartment would suit you but the apartments in the back don't get the afternoon sun. It really doesn't matter all that much as all of the apartments were lovely.
We stayed in Casa Blanca for 6 weeks, making daily trips to Ucsf. It was an easy 14 minute trip to the hospital, there was a lovely grocery store two blocks up the street, cable cars on the corner, and walking distance to shopping therapy of all kinds. Casablanca was our home away from home. Clean, sunny, beautiful hardwood floors, and the feeling that you were staying with someone in their home. I am really particular about the comfort level of my mattress and must say our beds were extremely comfortable. The apartment came fully furnished, dishes, linens, live plants, beautiful Edwardian artwork, linen slipcovers on the cozy sofa, quaint vintage needlepoint pillows and a fully equipped kitchen. Of course I brought everything from home I could think of not knowing what to expect, extra bedding, towels, pillows, none of which were needed. You need only to bring your clothes. No need to bring your favorite book either, Barbara had the apartment filled with them, and magazines which she updated frequently. Laundry? No worries, Villa Nob Hill had a new coin operated washer and dryer. Forgot your detergent? Barbara had it if you needed it.
The only negative thing I can say is that since we were there for 6 weeks we totally utilized the kitchen, cooking most meals. That being said we had our fair amount of trash. It took me awhile to figure out the dividing of the trash, bottles, cans, recyclables, etc. and was the cause of some frustration in the beginning.
The manager Barbara is very service oriented. If I had a problem, question or concern, she responded immediately. She also made the beds daily and freshened up the apartment.
I would say that when you stay at Villa Nob Hill, let Barbara give you the ins and outs, she knows them like the back of her hand. She is a wealth of information and more than willing to help if needed. Do let her come in the apartment daily to clean, it works out best for both of you. She is completely trustworthy, accommodating and in fact we felt extremely safe in the entire apartment building our entire stay.
Short term or long term, staying at Villa Nob Hill is sooo much better than staying in a hotel, there is no question. I look forward to going back and trying out a different apartment, although we loved Casablanca:)
Ciao and thank you again Barbara!
