We booked the house house with a long lead and were in regular contact up until teh lease. There was a small hiccup a couple of months out when we were advised that the house was off the market btu two weeks later it was relisted and our booking was reinstated. The guys kept us well posted at the time.
In the lead up togetting there communication was great and on the day everything fel inot place perfectly.
The house is on the tram line with stops to and from the city no more than 50m walk. It is a 20 minute ride into the middle of town - too easy to consider other transport options.
there are greta restarants and a really good supermarket two blocks away.
Facilitiies in the house are really good and we spent quite a few hours around the pool table.
The house really is an eight person house at this time but the owners are having a lot of work done to upgrade and improve the propoerty.
In summary, we had a great time in San Francisco and it was to a large degree that we had such a great base to discover fromResponse from Charles Seidel - 03/06/2013

Thank you! :)
I am so glad you had a a great time in San Francisco. Our Inner Sunset House is, I think, a fantastic home. Golden Gate Park is only a few blocks away and the convenience of the muni is wonderful! When I try to explain to someone who has never been to San Francisco, it is difficult, because they do not understand until they experience it. Driving and parking in the city can be very frustrating. Therefore, when I can avoid it, I do!!
Yes, we are always trying to improve our home. The house is over 100 years old, so there is always room for improvement, without compromising the integrity of the home.
It does comfortably sleep 8 people. It has a maximum occupancy of 10 people.
Thank you for being our guest! And, thank you for taking the time to write a review. -

VenezuelaFamily stay in Sunset House
Left on 12/23/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Our family had a delightful stay at the Sunset House centered around our daughter's wedding. The house provided a homey and comfortable atmosphere. The nearness to the Golden Gate Park, lots of good food and easy transportation to other parts of San Francisco made the trip fun for all. I read a comment about turning the laundry area into just that and not having a bathroom downstairs. I for one was greatly relieved to have that bathroom there. I wouldn't change it - perhaps just find a better spot for the washer/dryer unit - the third bath was greatly appreciated by us (with so many girls). The house is old, which we loved, but a couple things did need touching up. Danielle was so helpful and very quick to respond whenever we had a question.. Charles was a lifesaver with his backup plan for keys! Thanks. God bless.

Thank you for being our guest! And, for taking the time to write a review. I am glad you and your family had a great stay at the house and in San Francisco! Some people would prefer a more modern home. I love the fact that the house is over 100 years old. I think it adds to the charm of the home. So, I am glad that you liked that aspect as well. And, the location is PERFECT, I think. It is one of the few areas in the city that you don't have to walk up a big hill. And, I love that it is so close to Golden Gate park.
Again, thank you for being our guest and taking the time to write a review! -- Thank you! -

The house was perfect for our large group. The location was easy to get to and very convenient. the large kitchen let us all do our own things without too much bumping into each other. Thanks for having coffee there! The nearby grocery store is very high end and a bit on the expensive side. Danielle was a delight!

Thank you for being our guest and taking the time to write a review. We do provide coffee, because I think it is a must in the morning! :) And, for our more coffee connoisseurs, there are a few cafes right around the corner to choose from. There are plenty of restaurants, bakeries, cafes and more on Irving St., one block away from Judah.
Again, thank you for being our guest and taking the time to write a review.

We arrived in San Francisco for the wedding of our daughter and wanted to stay together as a group in order to best take advantage of the pre and post wedding activities. This rental accommodated us (8 adults, 2 children)comfortably. The home was roomy and exceptionally clean, the beds were extremely comfortable and the three bathrooms met our needs perfectly. We were never without hot water for showers which was extremely important to us. The location allowed us to break up into groups during free time with some taking the 10 minute ride on the train (pick up in front of the house)to the beach where we enjoyed crab cakes while enjoying the spectacular view at the Cliff House, others walked the short distance to Golden Gate Park to visit the arboretum, the art Gallery, the aquarium, or simply to take a walk through the park. Coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants are in abundance in the area. Because everything is so close we were able to enjoy the little free time we had without the hassle of long commutes. The house is in various stages of repair, but it did not affect our stay and is obviously being taken care of. Danielle and Charles were delightful to deal with and I would without a doubt rent this home again. We loved being in a residential area and felt part of the neigborhood. The neigbors were helpful and friendly as well.

Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed your stay!! I too love the neighborhood!! The Inner Sunset is a GREAT location in the city!! Irving street, one block parallel to Judah is amazing. There are soooo many restaurants. I have yet to try them all. I personally love Starbucks, for various reasons, but I have a few friends who will only buy from independent cafes. There are so many options, that we are all satisfied. I love that! I am glad you were able to able free time and enjoy the aspects of that part of the city. San Francisco is a small city. But there is A LOT to do and usually a short time to do it in.
Again, THANK YOU for being our guest .. and taking the time to write a review!! Please come stay with us again! :) -

The Sunset House was conveniently arranged for our family of five adults, two teenagers, and a 4 year old. Another couple and 4 year old visited daily. The house is located in a neighborhood with interesting shops and excellent restaurants. Golden Gate park with wonderful playgrounds and museums is in walking distance. Public transportation is right outside the door making downtown and sight seeing easily accessible. The home has comfortable bedrooms with lots of storage for clothing. The bathrooms are newly renovated. The living room has a huge U-shaped sofa area that held our whole family. The kitchen is convenient, although the dining area was small for our family. The house is clean. I would have rated the property a 5 except when we arrived at night, the gas (heater, hot water, stove) was inadvertently turned off. We spent 2 hours trying to identify the problem and unable to contact the manager. The next morning we contacted the owner and he responded quickly. We would stay here again and will recommend it to our friends and family. We had a wonderful time.

Great for a large group with kids. The living area is very spacious.
The pool table in the front room was a hit with the kids and young adults. The beds and bedrooms were very comfortable. The bathrooms all modern and very nice. The lower level with bathroom and washer and dryer and Murphy Bed made the space very user friendly. Nice to have a garage to park in as well. The kitchen was ideal with the nice size kitchen table. Walking distance to Golden Gate Park and the rail line goes right in front of the house. The notebook with restaurant and grocery store lists were very helpful too. Sure beats getting a bunch of hotel rooms! -

The home we stayed in, in San Francisco, was fabulous, we had a large group and everything was just great. Public transport was right at the front door, was easy to get to all areas of the city. Coffee shops, breakfast and lunch places closeby. We will stay there again on our return to San Fran.
Only $87 to hire a stretch limo from the airport too...bargain.

It took us awhile to get the strong cleaning smell out of the house. It was a great place for a group of friends to meet and it allowed us to have meals there if we wanted. It would have been nice to have some glassware but we made it work.
It was convenient for public transportation and we just had to get used to the noise, but all in all a good experience. -

Multigeneration family in SF for event: we loved the neighborhood...walked to the park with grandkids, interesting restaurants within a few blocks, our runners found good routes. The minivan we rented fit in the garage - so no parking problems. The interior of the house was tired and needs additional seating for dining. Kitchen was well supplied. w&D; were in a strange location that blocked a bathroom door. The adults found the tram noise annoying but our 4 yr old was still yelling "a train, a train" on day four! It was clearly the highlight of his week (and brought smiles to the rest of us on day one).

Thank you for being our guest! And, thank you for taking the time to write a review. We agree about the washer and dryer and remodeling that bathroom so it will become just a laundry room. The neighborhood is fantastic!! Having a great experience in San Francisco definitely depends on where you reside in the city. Near Golden Gate park and all the fabulous diversity of restaurants in that area is great!! The muni train can be annoying, especially if you come from and are used to a quiet neighborhood or rural area. If you are used to city noises, then you may notice it at first, but then will be able to dismiss after a day. Thank you for the feedback!! Ways we can improve the quality of stay for others is always appreciated.

We had a great stay at the Inner sunset home. We live a few hours north of the city and came to San Francisco with friends who flew in from atlanta, Ga to visit for the first time. There was 8 of us and there was plenty of sleeping room. We paid the pet fee and brought our two dogs, they enjoyed running around the back yard, it is much more comfortable for them than a hotel would have been. The house has a pool table and we played on it a lot. The Muni runs infront of the house which can be kind of noisy but I got used to it and I noticed that it didn't run on the weekend. We rode the Muni to the at&T; park where we were going to see a concert. It is also a short walk to Golden Gate park. the house is walking distance from a variety of restaurants. there are some cosmetic blemishes but I thought it added to the original charm of the old San Francisco home, and could tell that a lot of it has been recently renovated. Danielle helped me with booking and instructions, she also gave me tips of a few fun things to do in the area and answered all of my questions. I would definitely stay at this home again.

Thank you for being our guest! .. and writing a review. Slight correction, muni does run on the weekend, but not in the late night. So, if you are looking to take it on a Saturday, you can. It is loud at first. But, after a day or 2, I don't even notice it, it just becomes part of the everyday city noise. It is an old home, over 100 years old. And, I agree, it is that character that I like the most. I feel like I am a San Francisco native. And, if you want that uniques feeling or want to experience what is like for most people in the city, the Inner Sunset House is exactly that. And, the location is ideal! It is one of the best locations in the city.
Again, thank you for being our guest and taking the time to write a review! :) -

The home was perfect for our group. We had a 4 couples so they each had a bed and privacy. My bed was very comfortable. The kitchen and dining area was perfect for meals; especially sitting around in the morning in the well lit room. The house is in a great location. Once the cars were parked it was easy to get around. There are a variety of great bars and restaurants within walking distance. Parking was a bit of a pain but that is to be expected in San Francisco.

Thank you for being our guest and taking the time to write a review. You are absolutely correct, parking in some areas of San Francisco is horrible. Having a garage is essential. I love that the Inner Sunset house is so centrally located in the city - close to Golden Gate Park, only 2 miles from Ocean Beach, and only 15 minutes from downtown. And, because you have the Muni train, getting downtown is hassle free because you don;t have to worry about driving and then inevitable trying to find a place to park.
I am glad you enjoyed your stay at the house. I hope you will be our guest again. Again, Thank you! -

The house was well appointed, spacious, and clean. (I am a clean freak.) Great neighborhood with lots of restaurants and very convenient to public transport. Couldn't get WiFi to work, but didn't both owner over holiday.
We didn't have a problem with noise from the bus - could hear it, but not really intrusive. Only problem was noise in the house - conversations and laughter tended to travel through the vents. Light sleepers on different schedules may have difficulty.
The camelia bushes in the back yard delayed their display until after our departure, but we could tell it would be a gorgeous sight in just a few days.

8 of us stayed at Inner Sunset for a couple of nights during a fly drive of California. The property was perfect, very spacious and clean, and in a nice area. We spent the evenings at the northern part of San Fran, around Fishermans Wharf, but getting there was no problem with transit stops right outside the house. If we'd have had more time, we'd have visited the Golden Gate Park which is literally a few blocks away. This home is perfect no matter what you are looking for in San Francisco. Would reccomend to friends and family in a shot!

We arrived before the scheduled checkin so paid for an extra night. All accommodations were acceptable. The house did have a slightly musty, and mill dew smell. House was clean, but is beginning to show some wear. Loved the closeness of public transportation (right outside the front door). Train does run well into the night and early morning, though, and can be heard in the house. We had great service from Danielle and would consider renting again. Couldn't beat the price. Three hotel rooms would have cost us double to triple what renting the Golden Gate Park house did (even with our need for the additional day). Would have loved to have been able to stay longer to enjoy more of lovely San Francisco.

The front of the house needed painting! The front room had a large crack in the wall. Some of the sheets had not been changed. There was makeup on pillows. For just a little bit of TLC this could really be a charming place. Take your earplugs the Muni runs right in front of the house.
Response from Charles Seidel - 10/31/2011

Thanks a lot for the review for this SF vacation home. I am positive all the sheets are washed and changed since we have a cleaning crew that comes in and removes all the towels and sheets to wash them off site and returns with everything cleaned. You are right about the crack on the wall in this vacation home. San Francisco has experienced some minor earthquakes recently which was 4.0 and that makes some cracks on the wall but we try to fix those. About 2 years ago, we did a major earthquake retrofit to make sure this rental home is safe for the Big One. We hope it never comes but it is important to be prepared. You are right the Muni bus line runs by the house but not in the evening. It switches to the next street over in the evening.

Our extended family of 6 rented this home for our Son's Wedding in San Francisco. From the online pictures it looked perfect! The pictures were not anything like the real thing. There were large sections on the walls of chipped paint, missing window coverings, door and door jams rotted and unsightly, unable to close. The bottom floor smelled strongly of mold and the back yard a mess. The shower blinds were moldy. Since all accommodations in the city were full, we had no where else to go. The worst place we have ever experienced, and we have traveled all over the world including third world countries. This house needs major help!!
Response from Charles Seidel - 10/16/2011

Thanks a lot for the review of our San Francisco vacation rental home. Reviews really help us to improve. You are right that this vacation rental home is not modern. This SF rental went through a $90,000 upgrade about 1.5 years ago. The kitchen, all 3 bathrooms and lower level were all gutted and then modernized. Also, I purchased 3 all new TVs for the downstairs living room, main floor living room and upstairs. However, I struggled about remodeling the living room, billiards room, and bedrooms. Since this home is over 110 years old, I decided to keep the original old woodwork, original mirrors, and original feel. Some people like the older style and some people prefer more modern homes. There are a few cracks on the walls due to the earthquakes that San Francisco has on a regular basis. But during the major remodel, I also added in a major earthquake retrofit to stabilize the house. Thanks.

I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a get away in the City and need

On arrival at Judas Street we were thrilled with the cleanliness and presentation of our holiday home. We did have to allocate and find extra bedding due to the accommodation not being fully set up for all 9 guests but this was made easier after a quick phone call to the Danielle (very obliging). We loved the house and would feel picky if we were to pick up on the small things (shouldn't look for faults that are not obvious) so we remain thrilled! The location was great for trams into the city and very convenient to shops and stores close by. The best part of staying in this fab house was it's overall size for 9 people. Perhaps the only reccommendation needed is that the garden could do with more maintenance and a resident barbecue with patio. Unfortunately the weather was not on our side so we did not miss outdoor space too much!

The weather of San Francisco in the summertime... ahh yes. While rest of the country is experiencing heat waves, San Francisco is bundling up in sweaters. The cold fog can make it difficult to be outside too much.
Thank you for the suggestion with the yard. I am sure if you feel that way, than others probably do as well. I do like that the Inner Sunset House has a backyard. So many places in San Francisco do not have backyards. And, I love the location of the house. Its proximity to Golden Gate park is fantastic!! And, the ability to get around without having to use a car... in my opinion is GREAT!!!!!!! No parking tickets!

We enjoyed the stay and the whole process. The reservation, check-in and stay went well. The home is large enough for our 5 adults and 5 kids. The three bedrooms upstairs were a good size and comfortable. The basement bedroom fit all the kids with their own bath. The location is good. There are plenty of restaruants nearby, Golden Gate Park is nearby, its quick to get downtown and its convenient to mass transit. The only small down sides we found was its close proximity to mass transit and the ability to hear the train as well as parking a car is tough but thats probably the case in any big city. Overall if we were travelling to SF again, we would not hesitate staying at the Inner Sunset house.

Left on 05/24/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Inside, the house is comfortable, spacious, and clean. The neighborhood feels safe. The layout (three floors, three bathrooms) is good for multiple family groups.
The location turned out to be great: wonderful restaurants and stores along a parallel road, three blocks to some of the best parts of Golden Gate Park, easy access to the ocean and downtown on the Muni N (which is just just steps away).
Everyone, including two children under five, enjoyed being there. Thankfully our Jeep Liberty fit in the garage because the neighbors coopted the parking space in front. The owners were helpful and accommodating and the the refund was prompt.Response from Charles Seidel - 05/24/2011

Thank you for taking the time to review the Inner Sunset House in San Francisco!! We really appreciate it! I personally LOVE the location of the home, close to Golden Gate Park, convenient Muni location, centrally located in the city. I love it! ... So, I am glad you and your family enjoyed the home and the location as well. I think you were able to better experience what it is like for a San Francisco local. :) I love San Francisco, so, I always hope people walk away with the same sentiment. -- Singing a bit of Tony Bennett -- "I left my heart in San Francisco!" :) :)

The house has undergone some recent renovations with a new central heating/cooling system which performed very well during our stay. There are three bathrooms, one on each level and are clean and quite modern. The laundry is compact but appliances worked well.
As per a review that I read before renting, the tram stop at the front of the house is very convenient and the noise and vibration of the trams is quickly adapted to and unintrusive. It was about forty minutes from our front door to Fisherman's Wharf via the tram.
The house is convenient to grocery vendors and restaurants. Parking is competitive in the street especially as the covered garage is inaccessible for standard vehicles.
The owner is undertaking renovations which will improve the value of the stay for renters. The television in the lounge area is small and awkardly placed however you don't really take vacations to watch television.Response from Charles Seidel - 05/24/2011

Thank you for taking the time to review our Inner Sunset house in San Francisco! I do agree the television is indeed in an awkward place next to the fireplace. The original 1920's architecture is not conducive to modern technology.
I am a huge fan of the public transportation in San Francisco! And the muni that runs in front of the house is so convenient!! In some areas of the city, you are guaranteed to have to walk steep hills. That is not the case with the Inner Sunset house. I love that! And, Golden Gate Park is only a few blocks away as well. And, yes, parking in the city in general, can be a nightmare. In other areas of the city, such as North Beach by Fisherman's Wharf, is is horrible!!
I am glad you and your family enjoyed the home and your stay in San Francisco! -

My family and I rented this house so we could stay together for the weekend while attending our mothers wedding. This house was perfect! It was incredibly clean and comfortable as well as centrally located to transportation and entertainment! Parking presented a bit of a problem for us but overall we loved our experience and will definately be using this company again!

Thank you for being our guest! I LOVE the location of our Inner Sunset House in San Francisco! It is right next to Golden Gate Park and yes, very centrally located. The muni makes travel so convenient. And, I agree with you about the parking. Parking in the city is very difficult in many areas of the city. And, a point of contention with me. You MUST read ALL ALL ALLL signs!! But, with the location of this house, you don't need to worry about driving at all. The muni is GREAT!
Thank you for the wonderful review and for being a great houseguest!!

We had never tried an urban vacation home rental, so weren't sure what to expect. The Judah St. house turned out to be just perfect for us! We were there four days with our three 20-something children. Great location, easy to come and go, perfect for family fun. The pool table was a big hit! The property manager (Danielle) was very friendly and helpful.

Hi Cathryn,
I am glad you enjoyed your stay in the Inner Sunset House in San Francisco. I personally think the Inner Sunset House is the quintessential example of early San Francisco architecture. And, the location is so ideal with the Muni line right there to make your experience of San Francisco as true to a local's experience as could be.
And, thank you for the wonderful compliment. :) If you some back to our wonderful city, please keep us in mind. ... Good luck with your book!! -

We totally enjoyed our stay! Good restaurants and services close by plus Golden Gate Park. So good to be with family and friends and not be cooped up in a sterile hotel room. Great service from Danielle and Charles.

Hi Nancy,
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Inner Sunset House in San Francisco. I love the location of that house. It is so close to Golden Gate Park and the Muni makes it so convenient to get around the city. Parking in San Francisco (as any local will tell you) is a pain! So, whenever it is possible to take public transportation, especially the rail car Muni line, that's how we travel. Most people who have cars in San Francisco, unless they have a garage, find a parking spot and then don't move their cars for days.... always in fear they will lose their spot. And, having the Muni right outside the front door is ideal. Thank you for being our guest! -

This house is very spacious with a great location. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and I was easily able to walk to restaurants, grocery store and park. This made it easy to work with varied schedules. It was also nice to have the streetcar close when we wanted to head into town but we had to get used to the vibrations at night.

My boyfriend had this place recommend through some friends of his, who were in SF just a month earlier. We were told that it would be spacious and cosy, which was indeed the case, and at a very reasonable price. Recommending it to someone else depends on whether they enjoy living some distance from the centre of SF, however the beach was close by, and the beach in SF is very special, and reminds me of the beaches in Denmark, however we did not go swimming.
We enjoyed staying for thee days, and enjoyed cooking our own meals having been eating at restaurants etc for the past two weeks. Would definitely come back and live in this house, which lies in a very nice neighbourhood, and the house does remind me of the "Full House" tv-show. -

The only thing i can think of is that, you can hear the tram passing by outside, but it does not run during the night, so it's no problem! the house offer every service you can think of, from indoor garage, 3 bathrooms to washing machines and a dishwasher, it even has a pool table.

Stayed at this house during the end of a 14 day road trip. The house was bigger than anticipated, and the essentials, beds, bathroom and kitchen was very usable. Furthermore the ability to get some laundry done, was highly appreciated.
The house is not located in the centre of SF, and therefore you would need to commute. Luckily the tram stops right outside the house, and therefore it is very cheap easy and convenient to go downtown for a couple of beers and more, without having to worry about who's driving. The tram only operates till midnight, which means that you will need a cap to go back. However, this is a good thing, since the tram are somewhat noisy when it passes the house but nothing of a magnitude you can't live with.
There is parking right outside the house if your car doesn't fit in the garage. Our Lincoln MKS bottomed out on the sidewalk, when trying to put it in the garage, which meant that we had it parked outside the house.
The house has a very cozy living room with a huge couch and a pool table. There is complimentary wi-fi which works like a charm.
I would recommend the house for just about anyone, however be aware that kids who would need to go to bed early, should be put in the bedroom facing the garden, since the noise from the tram aren't very noticeable from this room. -

My colleagues and I where very happy with finding the Inner Sunset home for our business stay. We found the place to be very clean and accommodating. Great views all around. The location was conveniently two blocks away from several restaurants, shops and mini-markets. As vendors for this years Folsom St. Fair, we found it very easy for us to get to and back from the event.
