Additional Location Information
McLaren Park, San Francisco's second largest park after Golden Gate, borders Crocker Amazon to the north. It has four playgrounds, recently renovated and lighted soccer and baseball fields, a golf course, two lakes, jogging and hiking trails, a public pool, an old reservoir that is used as a dog swimming area, and the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater which houses concerts and festivals.
The neighborhood benefits from some of the most varied weather in the city, with a good balance of sun and fog. The top of the neighborhood boasts outstanding views of downtown San Francisco in the gap between McLaren Park and Twin Peaks. Parts of the neighborhood, particularly heading toward Southern Hills, feature free-standing single-family homes with at least 10 feet on either side (in most neighborhoods, there is a gap of no more than a few inches between homes). The diverse architecture of the homes throughout the neighborhood include Marina, Arts & Crafts, Victorian, Edwardian, and Mid-Century Modern styles.
The neighborhood is well-served by public transportation. MUNI Routes 8X, 8BX, and 54 serve the Geneva Avenue corridor and the 43 bus also serves Geneva Avenue, as well as Naples, Cordova, and Munich Streets. During rush hour, the Balboa Park Bart Station is only about a five minute drive, an eight minute bus ride, or a 20 minute walk. The neighborhood is convenient to nearby Interstate 280, and to the Alemany Boulevard thoroughfare. The neighborhood is served by two elementary schools, Guadalupe and Longfellow.
Geneva Avenue and Mission Street, which bound the neighborhood, feature more conventional types of commercial businesses: a barber shop, three pizzerias, two pharmacies, a hardware store, a vegetable market, etc. There are a growing number of restaurants and cafes which offer people a trendy alternative to the more traditional establishments.

Windsor Locks, CTGreat house, quiet neighborhood with a beautiful view
Left on 03/20/2013 for a stay in February 2013
In Feb. my sister & I had the pleasure of staying at Evelyn's house located in a quiet neighborhood. During our 4 night stay it was easy to find a place to park and we never used the driveway (a little steep, but typical of SF); one can easily back in to park. At night we enjoyed the city view from the living room and felt all of the house furnishings were not only beautiful but very comfortable. The house is even nicer than the pics. It's a great spot to relax after the bustle of the city. It was cool during our stay so we didn't take advantage of the cute sunny patio, but it's on the list for our next visit. We used the kitchen daily and found it well stocked with pots and utensils. You'll need to have your basics (a nearby relative kindly dropped off sugar for our morning coffee the 1st day), but once we stocked up, we were fine. There's a small market nearby and a Safeway not far, so it's easy to get to a store. We liked having a small radio in the kitchen and loved being able to do laundry (top notch appliances throughout the house). Evelyn is a gem of an owner and having rented various properties all over the U.S., I put her house in the top group.

We arrived after midnight (4am our time), with two tired teenagers to this dream of a home. My only regret is we only stayed for 3 nights. The location was very convenient to the airport and downtown San Francisco. The house was super clean with ameneties we have never had in a rental house. Evelyn really outdid herself to make sure it was a very comfortable stay. The house is even better than the pictures can show. Spacious, with lots of flaire and an amazing view of San Francisco from the large front window! We would not hesitate to return to this house rental...Thank you Evelyn.

This review is a little late in coming due to a mix up on Trip advisor. However our memories of Evelyn's residence are still fresh. We were a little worried that we were renting too far outside the city. This was not a problem. Everyday was a 15 min drive to a parking garage next to Union Square and China Town - no traffic issues or parking problems. Plenty of places close to the property to get food with a major supermarket 2 mins drive away. The house was spotless and laundry facilities were great. The property is in a residential area but it is very quiet and safe. No issues renting again with Evelyn.

Overland Park, KansasGreat stay in a Great Home
Left on 01/20/2013 for a stay in January 2013
I appreciated the great stay that we had and how Evelyn (the owner) was very responsive. The home was very roomy and I also appreciated how well stocked it was with items that a traveler needs. There was 4 of us (myself, my husband and our two adult children)and we still had plenty of room. The neighborhood was quiet. Pulling into the garage takes a little getting used to, it is a pretty steep hill. But that is San Francisco. I did appreciate having a garage and not having to park our car on the street. At least we didn't have to worry about that after a fun day of sightseeing. The house is pretty close to everything which also was a huge benefit. Do realize that if you have trouble with steps, there is a pretty steep set of steps from the garage into the house.

Our family enjoyed the house very much. It had everything we needed in the way of basic amenties. The kitchen was well supplied. The beds were warm and comfortable. It was tastefully decorated throughout. The location was perfect.with a great view of the city, minimal traffic and on street parking available. It was close to main arteries and available shopping. Interaction with our host, Evelyn, was simple and pleasant. It was the first time we rented a house and I would not hesitate to do again. It provided an oasis in an otherwise flurry of activity. Definitely a home away from home.

This stay was just the best... travelling with a teenager and having the abilty to give her some privacy by having her own room and bathroom was just great. Lots of space and the amenities included were outstanding. The Piers and downtown area were only 15 minutes away by car and there was plenty of Bart options as well. Evelyn was a pleasure to work with and if we take another vacation in the area we would want to stay here again.

This is a lovely home and we would definitely stay here again. Evelyn makes the home so welcoming. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us along with delicious pastries. There was also food to make the first breakfast. The location is convenient to downtown and the airport. Stay here and you will not be disappointed.
If you have problems with stairs, there are many stairs up into the main part of the house. The master bedroom is slightly elevated and there is a sunken bathroom. -

We have stayed in 5 star hotels, even The Fairmont on the Wharf @ 400. A night. I will stay here in this vacation rental from now on! It was close to everything via rental car or munis and Bart system! The owner is exceptional and the place is very homey and clean! My only complaint is we have to leave tomorrow! Excellent vacation rental! Thanks Evelyn!

We arrived later than hoped for but our wonderful host still met us with a smile and a great bottle of wine!! We stayed 3 nIghts and would have stayed longer had we realized the city and neighborhood would be so inviting. Each morning my husband or daughter walked to the local bakery for breakfast pasteries, coffee and a paper. Simply a delightful place to stay!!

Hello,
My husband & I stayed here for one week, we were 4 people. And what we can say is just how amazing is this house!
All that you may need, you can find it there. All the rooms are brand new, there's a huge kitchen, and there's even a terrace so that you can eat outside.
And it's only 20 minutes far from the center of SFO by car.
We must say also that Evelyn, the owner, is a very nice and honest person. She stayed all the time we had questions even if we arrived late, and we had no problem with the refund after leaving.
Don't hesitate to rent this house if you want to spend a while in SFO! -

San Francisco, CaliforniaHotel-like accomodations with the privacy and creature comforts
Left on 07/07/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The cleanliness and pesonal touches of the property, as well as Evelyn's kind yet professional attitude, made this vacation rental an a+++ experience.
I emailed an inquiry about the unit's availability and quickly received a phone call from Evelyn in response. We discussed terms and made arrangements to meet at the property. Because I was flying into Sacramento from San antonio, then driving up to San Francisco, I could not give exact time frames for our meeting but Evelyn remained flexible, asking that I simply call her a half hour before my expected arrival and meet her at the unit.
The unit was nicer than expected. All of the appliances were modern and new. The house was clean and nicely decorated with added touches that made our stay more comfortable such as a large selection of Dvd's available for viewing and soft, comfortable bedding. Evelyn also left travel-sized items such as soap and toothpaste -- just in case we forgot to bring our own -- as well as a bottle of champagne in the fridge (this was a nice surprise) and coffee/tea that my father actually liked (he usually complains about hotel coffee)!
However, what changed this stay from excellent to really excellent was Evelyn, who was understanding and reasonable. She did not try to nickel and dime us but, instead, displayed a genuine interest in making the most of our vacation by adding value that surpassed our expectations. She made checking in and checking out easy, asking that we call her a half hour before we were ready to check out. She was also accomodating of my mother's special needs. Please note, however, that although Evelyn is accomodating to people with special needs, the unit is not wheelchair accessable and requires a climb up a flight of stairs to access. This unit is therefore not ideal for those who have difficulty climbing steps or our wheelchair bound. But, if you can make it up the steps, than this unit is definitely a must!
The home, although located in San Francisco, is about a 20 minute drive from popular tourist attractions such as Fisherman's Wharf and Chinatown thus it is probably best for those with a car. There is free parking available in the driveway for those with a car.
I stayed at the home with my family of 5, which consists of myself (34 yrs old), my parents (who are in their 60's) and my 2 sisters (both in their 30's). We enjoyed the stay so much that 4 out of 5 of us programmed Evelyn's phone number into our cell phones for use the next time we're in San Francisco (the 5th person doesn't plan to visit San Francisco again so did not feel a need). My family talked about how nice the home was long after leaving and even called Evelyn later, in hopes that there was a "no show" so that we could rent it for a 2nd night. Unfortunately, the guest did show so we could only rent for that one night. I was very pleased about my experience here and highly recommend this spot. -

It is an amazing rental home. We stayed for a week with 2 older kids. The home is very clean and comfortable. It is a well equipped home with nice kitchen. It was a pleasure to cook in this kitchen. We had a car which was very convenient in terms of accessing I-280 and I-101. The garage is convenient but we parked on the road due to the steep driveway. We will definitely stay here if we visit the SF area and highly recommend it for a great peaceful week.
