Four of us stayed in this garden view apartment from October 3-13,2012. This apartment is very comfortable and being on the west side of Buena Vista Park is in a very quiet and seemingly safe area. A two block walk gets you to the #6 Parnassas streetcar which travels along Haight Street to Market Street and ends its route across from the Ferry Terminal where you can get the F line to Fisherman's Warf. Travel on the #6 along Market Street will get you within walking distance of Union Square, Chinatown,North Beach neighborhoods etc. There is also a neighborhood market on ashbury Street within walking distance of the apartment or across from a stop on the #6 bus. Walking in the area of the apartment is not for those who are not physically fit since there are many hilly areas and to get to the front door of the apartment there are 14 outside steps to climb. One criticism of the description is that this apartment has 1.5 baths and not 2 baths as stated. The apartment was generally clean but whoever washes towels and sheets needs to do a better job of separating out dark from light since clean white towels had black lint and spots on them. There were also some dust bunnies attached to overhead light fixtures. Kitchen is spacious with a lovely eating area overlooking the garden. Some of the pots and pans provided have seen better days and needed better cleaning or replacement.

Beautiful authentic SF home with all the amenities. The main reason I did not give this 5 stars is all the "rule signs" posted everywhere at the home and it is a 1.5 bath not a 2 bath apartment as advertised.
Otherwise, it is a beautiful place not far from Haight ave. where you can pick up a bus easily and do a little shopping for groceries and/or brouse the vintage shops. -

The arrive is well organised
The home is localised in a pretty place, very quiet, and not far from the center which is joigned rapidly by bus.
We feel very good living in that home, the kitchen place is marvelous, and the sleeping bed top, very "cocoon" -

We travelled a lot through the States this summer, but this was the best of our vacation rentals.
We missed nothing in this styleful apartment.
The atmosphere was great inside and outside this beautiful house.

we had a wonderful stay at the apartment, which is really designed beautifully.
some marks on the other side: one thing is, that one can`t open the windows easily and in the sleeping rooms it is even impossible. the washing mashine was not working and we were not informed about it. i wished to be more personally contacted - so I was e-mailing with jan a lot and nobody else was informed about our late checkout and also not about the washing maschine.
beside of that, we had a good time there.

Gorgeous flat with truly breathtaking views! It was an incredible place for my family to experience the real San Fran. (kids 9 & 11). Great kitchen, garden & location. Gorgeous park literally at your door, easy parking. I highly recommend.

The condo is beautifully decorated, welcoming, and large. The location is centrally located to everything and safe. We rented a car for the week so getting around was very easy. Parking was not bad at all. All but one day I was able to park with 30 yrds of the condo; the other day was about 2 blocks away.
There is no washer/dryer usage for renters. However, an inexpensive wash/fold place is a super short walk away.

Jan Chernoff (casabuenavistarental.com) runs a few excellent vacation and short term rental units in SF, mainly in and around the Buena Vista Park. I have stayed in several and they are all good but this one is particularly well fitted-out, nicely decorated and generally pleasant.

Very pretty apartment, directly across the street from Buena Vista park. The master bedroom opens directly into the living room, so this is not perfect for a large group or unrelated couples. My husband and I stayed here with our adult daughter, who had the small back bedroom - so it was fine. The only television is in the back bedroom (and a small one in the kitchen.There is no television in the sitting area. The park is a plus, but the general area is extremely hilly. If you plan to do a lot of grocery shopping, you will definitely need a car. All in all - a good spot for us because we wanted to be near the upper Haight area and we enjoyed the park and the neighborhood. The apartment itself is very nicely appointed...

I lived in San Francisco for 20 years before moving to Mexico. I so wanted my Mexican friends to experience San Francisco, so we rented this property. I actually lived on this street before so i was familiar with the fabulous neighborhood. My friends were blown away by the park, the shops, the restaurants and how easy it was to get anywhere in the city from our perch above the city.
This is a classic San Francisco house -- all charm and photo worthy on the surface, but upgraded to the point that you wonder what master workers they had to figure out how to keep the charm while adding upgrades that make the house a dream -- everything works and you feel right at home.
I highly recommend this spot!
