Additional Location Information
San Jose is in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, the only official desert in Europe. With Almeria International Airport only 30 minutes away, it is a fascinating place to visit - and very unlike the well-known tourist areas in Spain. This is a very Spanish area, unspoilt and fascinating.

londonA lovely home from home : )

Really great and comfortable apartment, very close to the centre of town.
Feels like a home from home, and not like you're staying in someone else's place. Beautiful roof terrace view, though best enjoyed after the sun has cooled off : ) -

We loved San Jose. Its a gorgeous little coastal town within easy reach (half an hour drive)of almeria airport. The bay was ideal for our young children to swim in.. warm and shallow, and with little waves. The town is charming, with lovely little shops, and lots of restaurants. There are plenty of places to visit locally but we were very lazy and just stayed in San Jose most of the time. We did visit Fort Bravo (film set of where they used to film spaghetti westerns)which was about an hour drive away, which was well worth it, and the boys are now obsessed with being cowboys. Make sure you get to see the performances they put on. they are in spanish but very entertaining even if you dont understand the words!
Our appartment was Casa Teresa, which was lovely and well equipped. it has a great roof terrace which has the most amazing views over the town with the beautiful mountains as a back drop. i spent lots of time up there! it didnt have a swimming pool, but the kids loved the sea so much it didnt matter at all. (this appartment has stairs which wouldnt be suitable for a todder or baby, but we were informed of that when we booked).
Our host Nina Bailey was extremely friendly and helpful, and i would recommend her and her appartment and San Jose 100per cent. -

LondonA delightful apartment in a charming Spanish town
Left on 10/28/2010 for a stay in March 2010
I stayed at Casa Teresa with my sister in March - it has everything you need for a comfortable stay with the added benefit of a large sun terrace so that you can enjoy the sunshine at any time of the day. I have also stayed in the apartment with my two teenage children for a summer holiday, which they really enjoyed. It is ideally located a short walk from the town and beach, so they were able to go off and do their own thing independently.
