We stayed 15 days at this fantastic villa in San Jose del Cabo and everything about the experience was above and beyond. We have tried vacation rentals in Canada and the us before and have always been disappointed by misleading pictures, dirty & rundown properties, nickel & diming fees, and customer service that disappears once they have your money. Happily, we have now found a perfect spot that exceeded all of our expectations!
Working with Shona was simple and straightforward. She was always quick to respond and very pleasant. We found this rental to be great value. The house is large and roomy. It is very clean and well-maintained. We were impressed by the frequent pool and yard maintenance, as well as the twice weekly house cleaning service at no extra charge. The property itself is huge, with beautiful garden areas (teeming with bougainvillea and roses) and multiple outdoor lounge, eating, and patio spaces. The pool was larger than expected and for a minimal charge, Shona heated it up to 88 degrees for us, which enabled us to use it day and night in January. Having this great private backyard and pool really made our holiday special.
The house is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach, the Mega, the estuary, and downtown's shops and restaurants. We had rented a car but it would not be necessary if you weren't comfortable driving in Mexico or wanted to spare the extra expense.
The house comes well-stocked, including drinking water, all soaps and paper products, high quality linens and towels, and even a supply of cold beer, juice, fruit and snacks to welcome you.
We would highly recommend this rental to anyone and plan to return as soon as we can. Thanks again Shona, for letting us stay at your wonderful villa.

We stayed at Shona's home over the Thanksgiving holiday. Shona was delightful to work with, and made our stay as convenient and easy as possible. She greeted us at her home when we arrived with cold drinks, snacks, and plenty of information about the surrounding area. The home was well-furnished, and stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We look forward to staying here again when we return to Cabo later this year!

I stayed in the top Casita which is situated in the Shona Villa grounds but very private from the main house and has its own entrance, garden, and a lovely plunge pool which I used every day.
I had a one bedroom casita with a large balcony overlooking the golf course. Everything I needed for my comfort was there for me.
Close to the Mega store for groceries and a $5.00 taxi ride home. Check out the clothing stores in the Mega Mall ladies!
I ran every day along the estuary by the Holiday Inn and this is also a nice way to walk to town. If you are looking for activities, boat rides etc check out MJ Majical Tours they are the first small building on your left as you walk into town. Most helpful.
Santa Maria beach is a short bus ride or car ride away and well worth the visit for swimming safely, and snorkeling.
For added convenience there is a small store for groceries at the end of the Shona Villa road, and a nice little stop for breakfast and fresh OJ.
Thank you Shona - a holiday to remember. Maybe next time I will bring my husband!

My Sister,Husband, My son and I booked this villa online. It was the first time ever doing this so I was a bit scared, but shona was easy to deal with and made me feel safe in booking she arranged everything our transfers, stocking the villa the only thing I had to worry about was airline tickets. We arrived everything was beyond all our expectations the place is beautiful, private, safe, we only ate out once. everything was in great working order with no problems, we even had our own BBQ, hot tub, and pool. we used shonas electricial bill and golfed cheap as locals, we were a 3 min walk to the most beautiful beach, a 10 min walk to the mega store which you can get everything you need and prices are cheap. we also had a small courner store 2 mins away so if any of you reading this review has second thoughts book it you will not be disappointed! We went for two weeks and are booking next year and we have had lots of friends book! Thanks shona your our gem in cabo

Our stay at Shona's Villa was wonderful. The house is clean and spacious as well as beautiful, the kitchen well stocked, lots of towels and linens, and a very private back yard with a pool.
We felt very safe and secure in the house and also where ever we went. The location is perfect. Five minute walk to the beach, ten or fifteen to the Mega Store and twenty to some good restaurants. Shona was very helpful and was even good enough to pick us up at the airport. We would book with Shona again without hesitation. This home is wonderful, just as shown in the pictures, the location is fantastic, beach, stores, restaurants, golf and town centre all within walking distance. Some of the most beautiful swimming and snorkelling beaches are within a 10 minute drive.
Our days varied from exploring beaches, remote areas of the Baja to never leaving our pool.
Shona was very accommodating, easily accessible and a wealth of knowledge.
One of our best vacations ever.
We will definitely return.

Estubimos una semana en casa Shona en San José del cabo. Una casa muy amplia y con una terraza y area de alberca encantadoras. La casa esta equipada con todas las comodidades, incluso un frigobar en la terraza para bebidas en la alberca. Cerca de la playa y a corta distancia del centro y del supermercado. El lugar es muy agradable. Un poco complicado el ver la televisión por tener sistema de satélite al parecer canadiense, pero se resolvió con facilidad por llevar adolescentes con nosotros que rápidamente solucionaron el problema.

When we arrived Shona was there waiting for us. She had beer in the cooler, chips, etc on the table and counter with dips, fruit on the counter. Shona has an information package that includes restaurant recommendations, where to go and what to do. Very useful. House is stocked just like your home, actually has more appliances than I do. Lots of towels and change of sheets if necessary. A large home with absolutely everything in it. Wirelesss internet, televisions, i-pod dock, you name it, it is there. 3 large bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, just lots of space for all of us. Very comfortable clean back yard pool with pool toys, the pool guy came in twice in our 3 days there. Housekeeping is included. Drinking water is supplied. Very private yard. Short walk to the beach, although not a beach you can swim at. Most of the beaches in Cabo you can't swim in. We came from our time share in the Grand Mayan which is minutes away. To get a cab, my husband just walked down the street to the nearest resort and hailed one to meet us at the house. The Mega (large grocery store) is within walking distance and the town is a 5 min cab ride. Cheap $5.00. Can't forget one of the most important items, she has the softest toilet paper I have ever used! I totally recommend Shona's property, you will not be sorry.

We were a big group, four mothers plus six kids. Shona went out of her way to make us all comfortable; we all had a bed to sleep in, there were plenty of towels and Rosi, who is the housecleaner, helped out three days during our week stay.
Shona also has information sheets in the house with suggestions on where to go and how things work in the house.
The house has three bedrooms; the master room is big enough to sleep five boys. The dining and living room are very spacious and nicely decorated. The part of the house we most loved the most was the patio with its private pool and a very beautiful plants. If you play golf all you have to do is open the gate at the end of the patio and you will be on the golf course.
We highly recommend Casa Shona and are looking forward to go back next year. -

We had fantastic stay at Casa Shona. The house was perfect for us (3 adults/ 3 young kids). There is a lot of space both indoors and out. We had almost all our meals at the outside table which is well shaded and very pretty under the trees and flowers. The pool was perfect and we used it constantly with the kids. The master bed/bath is really nice too - very big. The other bedrooms are smaller but absolutely fine. We stayed home many days but also made the easy drive to San Jose del Cabo for lunches/ dinners (there are excellent restaurants in San Jose) and hanging out in the square. Plus it was easy to drive to Cabo and to all the gorgeous beaches in between. Shona herself was fantastic - she picked us up at the airport (for a small fee, which is totally worth not dealing with the hassle of organizing a taxi, and she organized a great babysitter for the kids when we wanted to go out). We loved it. And will very likely go back - which is not something we typically do.

We and another couple stayed in Shona's home for 9 days. Our first impression when we walked in was "wow"...and our first impression never diminished! A beautiful home that was well stocked beyond any expectation and a gorgeous pool and garden area. The couple we travelled with almost never left the home! A fully stocked kitchen that we used to cook several meals, pool toys, beach towels, toiletries...you name it, it was there. Also, a lovely touch was the welcome snacks, beer and wine upon our arrival after a long day of traveling. Plenty of room for 4 (or more) adults to have privacy. We could sit outside and hear the waves crashing at the beach which was a quick walk from the home.
I have rented many vacation properties all over the U.S. and even in other parts of Mexico and this home was by far the nicest, best equipped home I have ever stayed in. We felt totally at home. It was extremely hard to leave! I would definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in staying in San Jose, and we will definitely return and stay here again! -

Great location close to everything and right on the golf course. Had breakfast on the covered deck in the morning sun and watched the birds bath in the fountain, walked to the beach for a dip and a morning tea and bun at the hotel then borrowed a surf board and taxi 8 minute taxi ride to the point south of town, had lunch on beach and came back to hot tub and a another swim in the beautiful pool. Golfers were done so went out the back gate and chipped the # one hole until the marshall gave me the "time to go home" sign. A great day.

We had never been to Mexico before and were unsure of what to expect, except we knew it would be hot...very hot. This is July and not the busiest time of the year, we were told, but this did not put us off. Our host, Shona ,was stellar. She did everything to put us at ease, providing much needed support and advice. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The pool was maintained regularly and a cleaner came in twice a week to keep the house tidy. It was great to have laundry facilities and all other household comforts.
The adults enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the fragrant garden and the occasional dip in the relaxing pool . The kids,.. well here's what they have to say:
13 year old girl: "It was a fun, exciting getaway. I liked riding the horses and the snorkelling beaches. The house was comfortable and clean and neat."
10 year old boy : " It was fun. I liked the Geckos in the house. I liked the pool (he hardly left it) because when you you were out doing a walk you just jumped back in the pool when you came back all hot and sweaty. I liked the snorkelling beaches and how everything was in walking distance and how friendly all the people were"
Adults again:
We enjoyed the incredible beaches; you could watch the surf for hours. It was great to be able to cater for ourselves and also go out enjoy the local cuisine. We tried to eat authentic Mexican food as often as possible, and this was a terrffic experience.Shona povided us with an excellent guide to the best beaches , restarants and points of interest (e.g. the Hotel California at Todo del Santos)..
We also found a couple of things out for ourselves, e.g. my son and I had an impromtu soccer game with some local people at the seven a side soccer faciilty at the back of the Mega store.and the live music in the town square on Friday nights.

Wow, it has beautiful landscaping. Very relaxing sipping a glass of wine out on the deck and listening to the water fountain.
Very close to beach and town, yet tranquil and surreal. A great place to unwind and enjoy the surroundings.
The home is very warm and inviting with great views and comfortable furniture.
The owner, Shona, was a delight and very helpful with restaurant and places to see.
What I liked best, there is so many, but it has to be The pool with the great surroundings.
What I liked least: Was having to leave. -

SJD airport is only a 4-hour flight from our home in Canada and only a short car ride from this wonderful vacation home in San Jose del Cabo, so in only half-a-day we were transported from a dreary late winter to a warm, sunny, and thoroughly stress-free environment. The home itself is centrally located but just enough off the "main drag" for one to feel away from the touristy bustle and is simply, but beautifully furnished with a great open-concept design and amazing kitchen and outside eating area. We spent our mornings exploring the picturesque San Jose, and afternoons splashing and lounging by the pool with our 2 children. We took several day trips to local beaches and nearby towns and relaxed in the evenings with the patio doors wide open and the warm breeze blowing in. It was PERFECT!

This is a fantastic place to stay. The casa is like a castle, the beach is moments away and the golf course is in the backyard! The village is about a 15 minute walk away.
There is a lovely garden, and a pool.
