Hi and sorry about how long this took. We stayed for 5 nights in late april/May 2012. Really cute fishing village. House was very comfortable (4 of us); well equipped, comfortable beds with great views and a good sunspot upstairs and reasonably priced. Nina was friendly and met us on the edge of town to guide us to the apartment. She found some extras like goggles and snorkels (but water is cold this time of year you need a wetsuit). Speak with Nina about the best bars and restaurants to visit in town as there are a couple of average and pricey food places. She recommended a really nice seafood place down by the breakwater. If you have a car go for a drive in surrounding countryside and villages. Some great beaches to be found and national parks. Really top spot we enjoyed it.

Enjoyed 3 nights at the Casa Begantin in May. Not nearly long enough! The house is in a quiet street within easy walking distance of the centre of town. It has obviously been recently refurbished and is bright and spacious. Daily highlight was morning coffee on the big upstairs balcony enjoying the great views. Perfect base to explore the town and the fantastic Playas de los Genoveses. I had rented property in San Jose from Nina before and as always she was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

We stayed in Casa Bergantin with the family, including two small children, and it was ideal for our needs. Well equipped and comfortable, it had plenty of outside spaces with a secure space for the children to play, barbecue, terraces, washing machine and excellent facilities. It is five minutes' walk to the centre of San Jose with its bars, cafes, restaurants, harbour, gently shelving beach and beautiful secluded coves.

Wir waren von Mitte Dezember bis Mitte Februar 2012 in San Jose. Das Haus Bergantin ist neuwertig ausgestattet und wir fühlten uns sehr wohl und vermissten nichts. Wir waren bei Nina und Philip in besten Händen und denken schon an einen nächsten aufenthalt in diesem Objekt.
Der Cabo de Gata Naturpark ist für Naturliebhaber wunderbar. Vogelbeobachtung, Radfahren, wandern, oder ein Besuch des Bot. Gartens in Rodalquilar sind sehr empfehlenswert.

This is a spacious house in a quiet part of the village, yet close to everything that's going on. Everything inside was pristine, and everything worked. Access to world wide tv and wifi. We were made very welcome; nothing was too much trouble.
The house has great views of the sea, and access to great country walks. -

In search of some winter sun we took the opportunity to visit San Jose to celebrate a friend’s birthday and discovered the delights of the Costa de almeria and the immaculate Casa Bergantin. The accommodation was spacious, clean and beautifully presented with all the mod cons we could ask for. The property is looked after by the British couple Nina and Philip who actully live in San Jose and they gave us all the tips and local knowledge on the where to go and what to do, the best places to eat etc which proved to be excellent. We would thoroughly recommend Casa Bergantin to anyone who likes all the comforts of home but with the very Spanish feel of the almeria area and a pleasantly warm winter climate.

We had a wonderful holiday at Casa Bergantin. We arrived and were met at the property by one of Nina's representatives. It was spotlessly clean and well equipped with all mod cons. We had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed the privacy that the house offered. The location was perfect for us, being near the edge of San Jose, so that we were in easy walking distance of the towns amenities, without it being too noisy or busy. We walked to the nearby Los Genoveses beach most days, and enjoyed the stunning scenery.

We came to San Jose not really knowing what to expect. Nina made us really welcome, gave us advice on restaurants and things to do, and how to have the best possible time. The house was better than we could have hoped for, with free wi-fi, satellite tv, an open fireplace, and a very well-equipped kitchen. We're hoping to come back again one day, but next time in the warmer weather to make the most of the beaches.

Actually it was 2011 that you visited us, not 2010!
Thank you for all your nice comments, however I don't really understand why you have only posted a "2 out of 5" overall rating, when you have given us no less than "4 out of 5" for each category, and "5 out of 5" for some. Hopefully this is a mistake and that you really did think that the overall rating was higher than you have posted.
