We are in Condado Beach. We are on the oceanfront next to the Marriott Hotel which is on the beach too. Parking is congested on the beachfront and we can assist our guests who want to rent a car to park it at the Marriott Hotel Parkade for a reasonable rate. City buses and taxis are very convenient and inexpensive. Most guests choose to rent a car for a day or two only to drive around the Island.

      Discovering San Juan Puerto Rico

Left on 02/21/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We stayed in unit 7a for 1 week. This is an older building but the unit was very roomy and secure. This was our first time to Puerto Rico and was unsure of where to stay in the San Juan area. The property offers great value, located ocean front, close to fine restaurants, shopping and hotels in the Candado area. Bus transportation for day trips to Old San Juan and Isla Verde is close by and also has easy access to main highways for those renting a car.

      Can't beat the price

Left on 11/28/2012 for a stay in November 2012

4 of us recently stayed in 2C and are very thankful for the affordable price we paid. For this area, you can't beat the price. While the building is older and is under going painting, it serves it's purpose. The beds were surprisingly comfy and the room was spacy enough for 4 people. The boogy boards in the closet came in handy because the waves were pretty intense! Tom, his wife, and Manuel were great to work with on booking this condo and checking in. You can park a rental car within a short walking distance at the Marriott for $18 a night, but I highly recommend using the city bus or taxi service; driving in PR is intense!! If you plan on renting a car, ask for written instructions to places and prepare to be a defensive driver. The GPS will not provide accurate directions and get you lost easily. There is a place on the beach a few buildings down that has a happy hour on Monday nights for $3.50 drinks, Yerba Buena is very good, but pricey. Try the Mambo drink if you go! There is a Starbucks in the area :) The only advice I can give on the condo is if you use the TV, you can't go by the guide on the TV. Abc is channel 818 (Gators were on this channel Saturday LOL) and the others run in that area. If I remember right the box will auto put you on channel 99. If you go under those channels and get a black screen, don't panic ... go up in channels! On the desk area on top of the phone books there is a puerto rico travel guide and on the back someone wrote the channel info. Also the buses in the area are 53 and 21 and will take you into old san juan. If you are renting a car, go to old san juan on a weekend because it is easy to find parking. We parked in front of a school and did so easily because there was no parking rule on the weekend there.

"Can't beat the price," is the heading of our guest's comments and the heading of my response would be, "Can't beat the information!" This reviewer must be a seasoned traveller, for the detailed recommendations are awesome! It is exciting for us to be part of a great San Juan experience for a group of young people.

      Perfect location

Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012

First of all,Tom made the process of getting the rental so easy.We had no issues regarding this matter and that was so refreshing.Another issue I like with this property is the fact that Tom doesn't charge a security deposit like many rentals.Ok when we first got to San Juan,we called Vilma to let you know we arrived.Once we got to the place, we were greeted by Manuel who showed us to the room.Manuel and Vilma are the nicest people and were helpful with anything we needed. Also I wanted to mention this place is very secure. It was like trying to get into the White house. For real, you get a key for the outside gate,a key to let you into the building,a key to get you to the 7th floor via elevator, and of course the key to the apt. We were in 7b without the balcony. Right next to 7b is 7a and that's the room with the balcony. Now about the room.Like previous reviews have stated if your use to luxury traveling, this place is not for you. The apt is quite old and some of the equipment is old as well but everything else was great. The place was very clean and had everything you needed. They had an abundant amount of kitchen supplies to cook and a large amount of towels in the bathroom. Also they have beach towels and other supplies for you to use.Now the room has a beautiful view of the beach and will absolutely love. After you leave the apt, your literally 100 feet from the beach. The bed was too hard but we they have a futon which was just fine.
The grocery store(walgreens) is like a 2 minute walk from the apt. To my fellow americans who never traveled to the islands the prices will be much more so be prepared. Also the room gets very bright because the sunset is really early.
For the price,I would suggest renting this property. You can't beat it
all and all we had a great time and plan on renting from Tom again.

We try attract guests who do not expect a Five Star Hotel Experience. We are happy when someone loves the beach and the Condado Area. I feel that this account is pretty accurate.

Un emplacement de rêve car près de tout les services. Mais pour ce qui est du condo il y aurait quelques petites rénovations à y apporter. De belles chaises confortables sur le balcon ,la vue y est tellement magnifique .

      Merci

Thank you for this input for we rely upon guests' comments to help provide a better service.

Sugar ants are everywhere in the Tropics and they are tiny, non-offending creatures that love anything sweet they can get hold of in the kitchen. We maintain a constant battle to keep them at bay .. it is time for us to step up our preventative actions again since they are back ...

      Amazing Location!

Left on 05/10/2011 for a stay in May 2011

My husband and I spent 4 nights here: one night in 7B and the other 3 nights in 7a. The owners were very accommodating to get us in on the dates we wanted, we just had to switch rooms - no big deal since they're next door. This gave us an opportunity to see both rooms and for us, 7a was a much better space because it had a balcony! We liked the layout much better too.
Both rooms have these wonderful windows that span the entire walls that face the ocean. You can open these up all the way and let the breezes and sounds of the waves crashing flow into the apartment. That alone was enough to make staying here 100% worth it. We've never stayed right on the ocean before - what a beautiful thing!
The property is very secure with its own gate, keys needed for the building, the elevator, and the apartment. It is literally on the beach, so just grab a towel, head downstairs and there you are! Nice beach too. Had an awesome time playing in the surf.
The apartments have dishes, towels, umbrellas, etc - pretty much anything you'd need. However, if you're a luxury traveler, this is probably not the one for you. The place could use some upkeep maintenance and some deep cleaning. But still comfortable and like I said - definitely worth the price for the location.
The owners and the property managers were all great. Thank you for your hospitality! We had a great time!

I think this is a great description of our two apartments in that they are clean and functional and in a super location right on the beach.

We don't try to compete with the four and five star hotels that sit on our beach ... We just leave some money in your pocket to enjoy their restaurants and casinos!

The fantastic view and soothing sound of the surf made our stay

Left on 02/05/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We stayed in unit 7B, a studio condo on the 7th floor of an older condo building on Condado beach, literally next door to the large Marriott hotel. We had a heck of a time finding the building, but once we did find it, we were met by the property manager, given a quick intro and our keys, and we were off and running. The absolute best part of this unit is that the the entire front wall looks out on the ocean, and the entire wall is basically a window that opens up to the side, so you have probably a 10-foot wide unobstructed view of the surf. The cool Trade Winds kept us comfortable, and we fell asleep each night to the sound of the surf. We stayed in 3 other locations in Puerto Rico during our 11-day stay, and we by far loved the view and sound from here the best. I felt like you could record a relaxation CD by just putting a microphone in our room and pressing record.

The room had a kitchenette, bathtub/shower, and Queen bed.

The condition of the room left a bit to be desired, it definitely showed it's age, especially the bathroom. But for the price, and the location, and the view, it was well worth it. Really the condition of the bathroom is why I dinged it a bit for "cleanliness", but really, we felt like we got more than what we paid for, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Oh, and there is a 24-hour Walgreens and small food market 1/2 block down the street, which is very convenient if you want to stock up for the beach!

I think this is a fair assessment of our apartment .. and will pass it on to Vilma, who manages it so she can talk to the cleaners about the bathroom cleanliness. We rely upon guests' feedback .. come again to enjoy the apartment, views and people of La Ventana al Mar.
