Great Find in Old San Juan

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012

I stayed here with two friends in March of 2012. The place was great. The location is wonderful. It's very clean. Everyone we spoke with regarding the apartment were very nice and accommodating (including a midnight check-in). We made breakfast in the apartment each morning and ate it on the balcony.

The only issues we had were a power shortage during the middle of the night (which turned out to be a fuse box issue - located by the building front door, not in the apartment) and a bunch of incredibly noisy girls on spring break across the street. Neither of these are the fault of the owners and I would assume are unlikely to be a factor next time. I will stay there again when I'm next in San Juan.

Wonderful time in Old San Juan!

Left on 08/29/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My 5 girlfriends and I rented the place not long ago and we had a great time. Annett and andres were super helpful all the time. We met them and their two gorgeous children once in a while, because they live right on the spot. When we arrived we took a taxi from the airport and their assistant was already awaiting us for the check-in. She answered all our questions, told us where to find a supermarket and how to get to the beach. The apartment is super central in Old San Juan and we enjoyed beach- and nightlife a lot. Our favourite restaurant was El Jibarito (don´t miss the Mofongo) and listen to live music in the NuyoRican Cafe. The place was just perfect to hang out and everything (bars, restaurants, supermarket, plaza) is within a walking distance. Relaxing in the hammock was the best of all. Really good price ($22 per person per night) for what we got!

      Amazing Vacation

Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011

This condo is in the perfect location for anything and everything you need while in San Juan. We traveled the whole island throughout our stay and it really felt like coming home when we would get back to the condo. It is much larger than it looks in the pictures and we had plenty of room with 3 adults and 3 children. I will be asking to stay again at this location on my next visit back in spring!

      Our worst stay for vacation.

Left on 07/30/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Our family of 4 from Georgia spent a week in this condo and it was the worst place we ever stayed. This condo looks cute and clean in the pictures but it was dusty, noisy, and with ants. It certainly was not a place to stay for a week. This unit is air conditioned in only one bedroom. The other bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room and bathroom are saunas. What surprised us the most about this unit is that there were no glass for window openings. Window openings were covered with just dusty metal shutters that blew in stench from the streets and noise from the neighboring bars/ restaurants until 4 am. Of course noise level got worse over the weekend where you can hear drunkards fighting at 3:40 am. Unbeknownst to us, this area is few blocks from unsafe zone in Old San Juan and therefore you hear police sirens very clearly. The lack of parking space was another challenge after a long day of sightseeing the island. We were faced with parking space hunting. Driving from street to street, looking for a space to park our little rental car was another nightmare.
After three nights of this nightmare, I contacted the owner to see if we can work something out so that we can migrate to a hotel room for rest of our trip. Unfortunately, Annett did not care to because we had contracted for a week and have paid in full one-month before we arrived. She did offer another unit for extra $500 which we declined.
This condo's refrig does not get cold, no matter which way you turn the temperature knob, your water bottle stays lukewarm. We had to freeze our water bottles and thaw to drink cold water. The shower drain is very slow, you end up with ankle high water each time you shower. Annett did deliver an oversized bathroom mirror when I reported that this unit does not have a mirror anywhere for my wife.
Bottom line, we do not recommend this unit unless you are planning to stay one night to party at Old San Juan.
During our week stay, we were able to visit all areas of island and have experienced the culture.
We have vacationed all over us, Hawaii, Bahamas, Cancun, Jamaica, Caymen but this was the first time we could not wait until we could return back home.

We are really sorry to read that John and his family had such a bad time, even though we already expected their upset review. The family contacted us shortly after their check in at midnight to address their impressions such as that the Condo was dusty, that the bath room mirror was missing and that their were ants in the kitchen as well as that there is only one A/C at the apt. "Irresponsible" as we are, we answered the call at midnight, said we will be there the next morning to work on all addressed issues, beside the A/C situation. We explained that the Condo is advertised with just one A/C in the Master Bedroom and that is the reason why it can be so economic. We offered a fully air conditioned Condo to move to, but off course it would be less economic and the family would have to pay the difference. After an hour on the phone the wife of John refused for us to enter the Condo, she advised us to stay away and we were only allowed to deliver a mirror the next day. While doing so, we checked on the kitchen, where we did not find ants and the apartment appeared clean. With other words we had delivered what we advertise, it was just not what John's wife expected and therefore she was very upset, but refused our help at the same time. It also becomes very clear that John's family did not like to area of Old San Juan, which is nothing we can control or do about ... Old San Juan is a lively, tropical city after all, even though we do not have bars right beside this Condo.

      Nice accommodations in great location

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in May 2011

This apartment was very comfortable and accommodating and just as pictured in the photos. This building is not one of the old historic buildings, but the inside still feels very "Old San Juan" and is a great deal for the price. The location is ideal, and you will love walking the quaint streets of Old San Juan. Best of all, the owners are "buena gente" (good people ;-).

      Is really cozy

Left on 05/14/2010 for a stay in May 2010

My trip was a wonderful, San Juan is beautiful and we really appreciate this apartment with the spacious balcony and the hammock on it. It made my afternoon more relaxed just hanging in there after a busy day traveling and walking everywhere. The owner was really helpful and honest. provided us with updated maps of the area and we didn't lack of anything and having a full kitchen and a supermarket close by, we felt just like home cooking our own meals for breakfast and dinner. The building is not the best, but I feel that for the price, we got a reasonable and spacious apartment. No regrets here. I do recommend the owner to check for some of the cutting knifes that need to be sharpen and fix the drinking water filter. Thanks for providing us with a nice place to enjoy your city.
