Description from the owner
With its classic red shutters, stone slab ceilings, limestone flooring and a history that goes back to 300 years, Tal-Barun farmhouse will appeal to the most discerning of guests.
This farmhouse is only a couple of minutes drive to the famous Dwejra Bay and it is only a short stroll away from the village square and local shops and restaurants and bars. On entering the house from the street where nothing is revealed of what lies beyond, it is only when you step inside that the 'farmhouse' aspect is enjoyed.
Tal-Barun farmhouse is set up on split levels and provides a stylish and comfortable setting for a self catered holiday. The...Read more

Left on 06/02/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Lovely old house, with 2 quirky bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a roof terrace with barbecue, and tiny, but very secluded pool. Great for hide and seek! Doesn't look spectacular from the outside but certainly has the wow factor inside and is really well equipped. The owners were hugely helpful, meeting us to help us round some road works diversions, and organising horse riding for us too. Good supermarket just down the road - the local red wine is great and cheap. You do need a car though, and the property has quite a few steps so not great for the infirm.

This farmhouse has it all: It is big, very clean, has great amenities including WiFi, lots of towels, all in all five showers, great location, wonderful roof terrace, and a very enthousiastic host. We felt truly welcome seeing the 'starter basket' with food, wine etc, to get us through the first night...

Perfect place to stay. Marvik was very helpful, always on call for questions, and his parents in the next village were lovely too!
Everything you need there, very private and quiet location. Great walk down to azure Window!
Also, if you aren't renting a car then the buses are very good.
Would contact Marvik again if we ever return to Gozo!
Recommend to anybody. -

We stayed at Tal-Barun for a week for our honeymoon. Marvik and his family are absolutely terrific and made our stay -- from airport pickup to rental car, down to the tiniest details -- into the highlight of our trip to Europe and Malta. The property is elegantly designed and appointed. We cooked at home almost every night we were on Gozo, and the kitchen had absolutely everything we could possibly need. If you are considering renting a house on Gozo, this is your location! Thanks, Marvik! You and your family are wonderful!

Basel, SwitzerlandA charming getaway that takes you back in time
Left on 04/15/2012 for a stay in April 2012
The family that owns the property is local and cares very much about their home and the experience of their guests. It is only a 10 minute drive to Victoria (the main city on Gozo) and a good walk to the azure Window. The home is very comfortable for a family of 4. We were always able to find sun somewhere in the house--on the pool deck in the morning, on the bedroom veranda around noon and always on the rooftop.

Marvik's communication before the visit was beyond what one would expect. The resources and information he provided were very helpful. The house was exactly as described and a haven of peace and rest despite the neighbors doing construction! Really appreciated the welcome pack of goodies and the heaters to keep us warm at night. Really enjoyed meeting and getting to know both Marvik and anna - they are delightful people. If you are looking for a beautiful home to stay in while in the countryside, this place is for you.

Kent EnglandLovely Villa in Excellent Location.
Left on 11/06/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Villa is very well equiped and located in a nice residential area. It is much larger and even more beautiful than it looks in the photo's. From the roof terrace you can see the sea on three sides. It is only a short drive from Victoria and the bus stop is right opposite the property. The resturants nearby are excellent and shop very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and as we arrived in the evening the welcome pack was much appriciated! Thank you Marvik, Anna + Family for a lovely first stay in Gozo!

WellsEnchanting; a delightful 'get away from it all' farmhouse.
Left on 10/29/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This sympathetically restored farmhouse was the most wonderful base for a relaxing and delightful break.
Nothing was too much trouble for Marvik ( and his family). From the outset, communication was positive and instant, Marvik was a pleasure to deal with, a genuine, 'hands on' owner with the needs and wishes of his guests as his prime aim.
The house itself has been beautifully restored and furnished, they really have thought of everything; from the lovely furniture available on the roof terrace to the eco friendly shopping bag and umbrella hanging in the hall ( which we certainly didn't need...even in October!) A lovely welcome pack awaited our arrival, the wine sipped whilst sitting upon the delightfully calm and warm roof terrace.
The internal courtyard provided us with a secluded sitting and eating area, even the splash pool was braved ( yes un -heated and at the end of October!)
Our thanks to Marvik and anna and their family in making this a wonderful holiday, and providing us with some enchanting memories. -

LondonComfortable and quirky farmhouse in relaxed Gozo
Left on 10/13/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We had a 10 day stay in this farmhouse, sleeping six, in the small village of San Laurenz. Prior to our stay we knew we would be well looked after, and transfers and car hire were all arranged. There was even wine in our welcome pack!!! The accomodation is well equipped and very comfortable. We enjoyed all the objects displayed in the home, very unusual! A lovely, safe pool area, and sea views from the roof terrace. Toys were kindly provided for children, and there is a great swing park 30seconds walk away. The island is perfect for a relaxing, stress free holiday. The supermarkets very well stocked and some beautiful villages and beaches to explore.

TokyoAmazingly Special Place, Excellent Value
Left on 08/28/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Our family absolutely loved Tal Barun. So much better than even the photos show. Excellent value, very comfortable, beautiful, and spacious for 5 people--big rooms and kitchen and tons of bathrooms. Owners were fantastic people and thought of every single detail--made vacation that much better. Unexpected touches--tons of towels, completely outfitted kitchen, wifi, everything you could imagine. Marvic was incredibly responsive and helpful from beginning to end. Perfect location in San Lawrenz--away from all the touristy chaos but perfectly situated to visit all Gozo sights. Plunge pool was a life-saver. Rooftop was fab for dinner ever night and sunbathing. Only drawback is that main bedroom is on a road, which isn't that busy but enough to hear louder traffic in the morning but only when windows are open--otherwise, very, very quiet.

Left on 06/19/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Right from the start of the booking through until we were leaving the owners Marvik and anna were wonderful and couldn't have done more to make our holiday so special. The farmhouse is beautifully furnished and has lovely touches throughout. Everything has been thought through. We loved the sun terrace which had wonderful views, and a nice breeze when it got too hot.
There are restaurants and a good supermarket within walking distance and we will definitely be using one of their villas again through www.Gozobreak.com. -

Melbourne, AustraliaThe most relaxing holiday I've experienced in a long time
Left on 04/15/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I have nothing but praise from the handling of our initial enquiry to us saying goodbye to our wonderful hosts - Marvik & Anna!
My fiance and I travel the world with our jobs, travelling is what we call the "university of life" and we share this with our 2 children. Therefore, our normal accommodation whilst working are modern hotel complexes. This is where the huge difference is with Tal-Barun Farmhouse in Gozo...this is a "home from home" experience...which brought with it, a relaxing environment in a most wonderfully well renovated farmhouse. The farmhouse had so much attention to detail with tradition of this beautiful island and the owners were the most friendly, caring and down to earth couple one could ever meet.
The neighbours were amazing, we had local produce (bakery, vegetables & fruit, fish delivery) literally outside our door throughout the week as the local businesses send out delivery vans selling items such as bread, cakes, veggies etc.
The park for children over the road was a huge hit with our daughter (4 yrs old), every morning and evening, we'd relax, sit on the park bench whilst she played and even watched in the evenings the sun setting on the ocean line from the park...yes this was heaven!
Marvik & Anna met and welcomed us, showed us around their lovely farmhouse and then at departure, they came to wish us well on our journey. They helped us with local atrractions of which one was getting up early to get lovely photos of sunrise at the Citadel (not only lovely, but so very romantic).
Tal Barun Farmhouse is exceptionally clean, the kitchen has literally everything you could ever conceivably need to cook. Since we are aussies, BBQ is a tradition, so enjoying having a barbie on the rooftop garden and enjoying some local wine, was for us so relaxing.
In conclusion, I would have no hestitation in recommending Tal-Barun Farmhouse, you will have the holiday of your time there.
Thank you Marvik & Anna xx -

Quirky, quaint, quiet and quite excellent location. We enjoyed a very relaxing week here. Had breakfast on balcony above the pool. Barbeques and sunbathing on the roof terrace. Fantastic restaurant walking distance up the road. Village store for essentials in the square and good supermarket a couple of minutes drive away. Highly recommended.

Left on 08/16/2010 for a stay in July 2010
This refurbished three storey traditional farmhouse is in the middle of a small town with a small shop, restaurant and bar. The location is excellent for the capital Victoria and for other spectacular tourist sites around Gozo. The property has an interesting history and has been tastefully refurbished by the owner and his wife. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they provide excellent service and advice. The main bedroom is fabulous with a lovely ensuite and the other twin also has a shower room. There are plenty of quirky corners to sit and read or listen to music and the famhouse is well equipped. As a family who like to sit around a pool all day, the only criticism we have was that the pool is quite small- more a plunge pool than a swimming ppol and it has been established in a central courtyard with little room for sitting around. (The main sunbathig area is on the roof which accords great views of the sea and surrounding countryside). Nevertheless to have a pool at all in such a property was a positive. I would definitel return to Gozo and I would use one of Marvik Borg's properties when I do.

Our friends stayed at Tal Barun and we were lucky enough to stay at ta Nikola in St Lucia.
Both properties were so comfortable. Marvik made our stay so pleasant. The houses were clean, and tidy, full of all the necessary items to make our stay pleasant. The bed linen was fresh and clean, and there were plenty of towels. The pool at Ta Nikola was cold (it didn't stop us though) and there was plenty of garden furniture.
Marvik made arrangements for us to go horse riding at Gozo Stables, which we all enjoyed. The local produce in the little cabinet was a nice touch as was the welcome package on arrival.
The little store in St Lucia was ok for our daily bread and milk, but we prefered to shop at the supermaket called St Marys.
We would definately return to Gozo and would definately book one of Marviks farm houses. He made our experience easy from initial enquiry until the day we left. He even bought our breakage deposit to us in Malta after we were stranded due to the volcanic ash problems that affect airspace.
Thanks Marvic for all of your hard work and efforts, we had an amazing holiday, and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending your company. -

We had a wonderful week staying at this quiet, quaint farmhouse. The welcome and service delivered by the owners was second to none. From the greeting at the airport, detour for gorgeous ice cream before getting to the farmhouse set off our holiday perfectly. The accommodation itself is wonderful and quirky, full of character. We spent most of our evenings enjoying BBQ's on the roof terrace, which for us was the best point about the house. Watching sunsets after busy days exploring the island was fab.
Gozo is a must for those wanting a true get away, and this is the place to stay!! Thinking about it just makes me want to go back :-) -

Me and my family spent a wonderful three weeks at the Tal-Barun farmhouse.
You really do have to see it to appreciate the warmth and splendor. Full of
nooks and crannies and adorned with wonderful decorative items this really is
a home away from home.
The owners are fantastic people as warm as the climate with an excellent
philosophy toward customer service that no other stay has matched. This really
is a special place and will stay in our hearts forever. Writing this review has
