La Bodega country cottages are located between the mountains and the sea in San Miguel the south of Tenerife. There are four self catering cottages named after tropical flowers. Bougainvillea, Frangipani, Jasmine and Hibiscus cottages. The accommodation has been lovingly restored from an old winery and farm houses to a very high standard retaining the original stonework and tiles.
There are relaxing and attractive gardens with all kinds of semi tropical plants,sun loungers, barbecue, patio areas and an overall spacious feeling.

We had a very relaxing and tranquil time at la Bodega. Shiela and Ray made us feel very welcome, and we very quickly settled in. The cottages are arranged around the good sized pool, and are very spacious and well equipped. The security of La Bodega, meant that you could sit by the pool and not worry if you had a window or door open, and it was great meeting the other guests. A well stocked DVD library was great for the nights in. All in all very happy, would go again.

We had an excellent holiday in this beautiful location which is well away from the Stereotypical Tenerife Package Tour Holiday.
Situated in a small Spanish town, with beautiful views over the sea, it met all our expecations of a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
The cottage was well equiped and provided all that was needed for self catering, with the addded benefit of having dinner cooked for us if we wanted.
The owners, Shelia and Ray, were excellent hosts, unobtrusive but always there if required. -

Hibiscus Cottage is one of four 1 bedroomed cottages that make up La Bodega Casa Rural situated in the quiet town of San Miguel just a 15 minute taxi ride from Tenerife South airport. Approached via a typical narrow Spanish street the solid black gates give you no clue as to the idyllic secluded holiday oasis that lies beyond. The cottages overlook and surround a pool and sunbathing area which itself is sited within beautiful gardens, also home to a pair of caged love birds! The properties are owned and managed by Sheila and Ray who live on site and who immediately make you feel very welcome and very much at home - nothing is too much trouble and they are both always on hand to make sure your holiday is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible - without being at all intrusive. Both are English but Sheila is also a good Spanish speaker and also has a smattering of French. She is also a very good cook and is able to provide romantic evening meals for 2 from an extensive menu.
We stayed in Hibiscus Cottage (but also viewed the other 3 cottages which are all furnished and equipped to the same very high standard) which was clean, well decorated and well furnished. The kitchen is extremely well equipped. Dressing gowns are provided and beach towels can be rented. There is a modern flat screen TV and an extensive range of Dvds are available for the occasional quiet night in!
San Miguel is a sleepy small town and the main street with a chemist, supermarket and splendid fresh bread shop, from where we bought our fresh croissants for breakfast every morning, is just 5 minutes walk away.
This location is ideal for the couple who either wish to relax within a walled garden and soak up the rays or for the slightly more adventurous is an ideal secluded base to return to after a day touring the island. Hire cars are available from the airport or alternatively arrive by taxi and by arrangement Sheila can have your hire car waiting for you at La Bodega. There is also an excellent bus service giving you access to neighbouring villages and Los Christianos from where you can widen your horizons even further.
We had a fantastic weeks holiday in a cottage which more than met our expectations and La Bodega certainly ticks all the comfort, secluded location, romantic get away boxes and many more. 100% recommended to any couple looking for a quiet non intrusive break and/or romantic get away. -

We were looking for a quiet place to relax and unwind for a week and we certainly discovered that in La Bodega. Ray and Sheila, the English hosts, were so welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble and having lived on the island for 18 years they were well qualified to answer all our questions and give advice. The cottage - we stayed in Bougainvillea, was extremely comfortable with views out to the terrace and garden. As there are only 4 spacious cottages sleeping 2 people each, La Bodega was relaxing and peaceful. Whether we sat at our table on the terrace with breakfast or cofee or relaxed on the loungers by the pool in the lovely garden, this place felt really special. The village of San Miguel was a 5 minute walk away, with supermarket, post office, bakery, restaurants, cafe etc. We will definitely be going back...

This was our second visit - just as good as the first. So good we recommended it to our friends who joined us this year. The accommodation is brilliant for couples wanting a relaxing break but still within easy reach of the coast and the El Teide National Park which was fantastic!
There are several good restaurants within walking distance but you can also spoil yourself with Sheila's home cooking - you only need to open the wine and relax!
We spent many an enjoyable evening on the verandah enjoying the pleasant distant views and tasting the local wines.

We came back for a second consecutive year, as my girlfriend had just completed her MSc so we wanted to completely chill out, and we knew that this exactly what is on offer at La Bodega.
There are four cottages in total sleeping 1 couple per cottage, with a shared swimming pool so a maximum of 8 people staying. Last year we stayed in Hibiscus and this year we stayed in Jasmine, and can say that they both have their own particular charms, but were both very comfortable and had all the facilities that we needed.
There are 3 really good restaurants locally (within walking distance) and Sheila's home cooking (delivered to your cottage) is definitely worth staying in for, or sitting enjoying on the terrace as the sun sets with a glass of wine.
There is a fabulous bakery a few minutes walk away where we got our daily bread and pastries. San Miguel is quite hilly but it is uphill to the town centre and downhill on the way home.
We rented a car and headed up to El Teide National Park, which is a beautiful place, and well worth a visit as the terrain seems to change around every corner.
If you want Las americas/Los Cristianos then this is definitely not the place for you. We would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing, slow paced holiday, and feel sure that we will be back again. -

We had a really lovely relaxing stay at La Bodega Casa Rural and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the typical tourist resorts to just chill out and unwind in amazing surroundings. The accommodation is gorgeous, very tastefully decorated and maintained to a really high standard - the photos on the website hardly do it justice. The pool + garden area is divine and we spent some blissful days lounging there in the sun. The cottages have everything you could need and the free dvds + books are a great touch. Sheila +her husband are so friendly, helpful + laidback.
The area is great - we wandered up to the local bakery + shop most mornings and went drinking with the expats in the local bars and sampled some v nice canarian food in a restaurant Sheila recommended.
We had a hire car to explore the countryside but you could just as easily get a taxi from the airport to the cottages if you liked.
I've travelled quite extensively over the years and this is one of the best places I've stayed in.
