Description from the owner
Stays of 3 or more months will be billed at $350 per month.
This self-contained one bedroom casita or apartment is one of 3 "habitaciones" in the compound. The property is located just about one level mile from the center of everything. The bus stops half a block from your door and takes you into the Centro Historico (abt 7-10 mins), and it costs 5 pesos. It takes between 20-30 minutes for most people to walk to Centro. Along the way you will find first, open country, then shops and restaurants. We are about one mile from Via Organica, a lovely organic grocery and restaurant. We are perhaps half a mile to the Fabrica La Aurora, wh...Read more

Additional Location Information
About one mile North of the Center, using Aurora to Benito Juarez. Genaro Sandi is the very first horizontal street you come to, and it is on the right. It is still un-paved. The house is about half a block from the main street, Benito Juarez.
There is no off street parking here, alas.
There is a gym less that 3 blocks away, and they charge about $2 per visit. There are small stores on each street. There are open air markets on Saturday and Monday, within about 6 blocks.
To walk in to town takes about 20 minutes, and after the first half of the distance, you will be in commercial zones, with houses, shops, restaurants, and you will pass by the fabulous Fabrica la Aurora, where you will find many galleries and art studios and shops.

San Francisco, CAGood option for independent/budget travelers
Left on 08/25/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This is a clean and charming rental, in a quiet outlying SMa neighborhood (with lots of dogs). The unit is colorfully decorated with Mexican art + textiles. It is very comfortable for a couple and can accommodate about 3 people without feeling too claustrophobic. It is about a 30 minute walk to the downtown plaza but a taxi only costs about 35 pesos and the local blue+white bus is about 5 or 6 pesos per person. A well-stocked neighborhood corner store is a block away where you can buy beer, soda, eggs, veggies, and so on (return/redeem your glass beer bottles for 10 pesos!).
Sharyn, the owner, is uber responsive and very pleasant. We were surprised to find coffee, bananas+oranges, cheese, bread, and salsa in the kitchen upon our arrival. Unfortunately, I brought dinner leftovers home one evening and was disappointed to learn that there wasn't a microwave in the apartment afterall. Another small disappointment was that the wifi connection for the Casita is slow, so don't count on sending or downloading any large files while you are here. One evening I grew concerned that there wasn't a telephone in the unit in case of an emergency,.. but I'm prone to paranoia once in a while.
This is an excellent option for budget travelers or independent travelers seeking a bit of tranquility in the sometimes chaotic country of Mexico. I want to give Casita Santa Cecilia 5 stars but when my husband changed the drinking water in the kitchen (on Day 3 of our stay), I noticed a small gang of black bugs frolicking around in the remaining water in the dispenser. Ack! We obviously survived, however, so I'll give this rental 4 stars.
