Friday Harbor, WAElegant, comfortable, lushly planted, sunset & town views to swo
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2012
The home is furnished with top-of-the line upholstered couches and chairs (rooftop, TV room and living room) and filled with many uniquely Mexican artifacts, bowls, photos and art. All garden/patio areas have lush plantings in pots as well as a lemon tree and herb garden. Chef's kitchen is equipped for 2 chefs with all necessary implements, serving pieces and dinnerware. Ensuite bedrooms (2) have fireplaces and views of the hills while a private casita has a kitchen, bath and pool table, with a view of the garden trees. Beds are fine quality with duvets and pillows. Water purification throughout. The house management team complies rapidly with requests, and the owners are equally available via email. Four of us spent a marvelous 8 weeks together, reveling in the ambience, the location, and the sounds of the town: Church bells ringing in celebration, a few roosters crowing at dawn, far away train whistles and the sudden burst of firecrackers when locals celebrate a birthday, or a wedding. Evening sunsets on the rooftop were a daily highlight, , and majestic balloons floated by the casa early some mornings. The Ramirez market was an easy 5-minute walk, and a perfect after-dinner stroll for an ice cream cone at the Jardin was common.
Taxis appeared at a raised arm, the corner bus traveled 7 minutes to the Tuesday Market, and walking to cultural events was a joyful exploration of the town.
We're coming back next year for 2 months ! Does that say it all, or not?

San DiegoA Memorable Week in San Miguel de allende
Left on 12/11/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Recently I was privileged to spend a week at the beautiful Casa de la Vista in the historical colonial city of San Miguel de allende in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. The owners, Gunnar and Barbara Erickson, have completely restored the original eighteenth century building with superb attention to detail while adding all the necessary (and then some) contemporary amenities. The kitchen is a dream come true and it as well as the bathrooms are beautifully tiled with designs created from colonial patterns in the old pottery "fabricas" of nearby Dolores Hidalgo. The home is tastefully and comfortably furnished with books and folk art everywhere. Many of the pieces, collected from a number of regions in Mexico, were created by artisans considered "great masters." There is an excellent sound system and a huge cable TV in its own cozy room. From almost every room there are panoramic views of the city with the best one up on the roof terrace. In keeping with the attention to detail on the part of the owners, I was impressed with the quality of the bedding and towels. (Can there be a better awakening than to the sound of antique church bells and a rooster crowing in the distance?) There is even a pool and the garden is delightful. And together with all this comfort and charm the location is fantastic! Open the beautiful front door, turn to the right and in a block and a half (about) you are in the center of this "World Heritage" town!

This is a lovely home with no detail forgotten. It has all the the charm and "feel" of a Mexican Home ( beautiful tiled bathrooms and kitchen, fantastic artwork and furnishings, and great outdoor spaces and views) but also all the conveniences of home--TV, internet, drinkable filtered water and even central heat. It is also extremely comfortable and relaxing in style and decor.

Casa de La Vista is an absolute gem. The house is decorated with art and the furnishings are perfect. It is comfortable, clean and the views are magnificent. I travel a great deal and stay in vacation rentals around the world, so I can say with total honesty that this home is special and has all the amenities that one needs. This is a first class experience. The location could not be better in San Miquel de allende. You can walk everywhere. When you come to SMa, this is must...

Left on 09/11/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This was our fifth trip to San Miguel in august to escape the heat of Texas and your home was our favorite spot we have stayed so far. It is lovely and quiet and beautifully decorated. (Olga was gracious and a great help to us.) The view from the roof is gorgeous. My sister took pictures of all the rooms because she wants to build a house just like it! My husband and I celebrated our birthdays while we were there and it couldn't have been more relaxing and fun. We grilled on the patio and ate outside and enjoyed the sunset. The people of San Miguel are so warm and friendly and polite. We felt like we had stepped back in time to the 1950's when there was no a/C, no TV, and everywhere on the block gathered together and had a good time. We loved the El Jardin at night. What fun!

Left on 06/14/2009 for a stay in December 2008
Staying at Casa de la Vista nearly consumed our vacation - I never
wanted to leave. From the moment we entered the foyer I knew there
was something timeless and haunting (Good haunting) about the
place. All the normal adjectives apply here - beautiful, well
maintained, everything worked.... but those words can be said of
many San Miguel homes. Casa de la Vista is embracing, comforting,
transporting. It is so old (and everything DOES work) I felt as though I
were a welcome visiting dignitary of a long line of guests through time
that have been blessed with a respite among the thick, cool walls,
ancient floors and stunning views. The home is at once fascinating,
comforting.... humble and magnificent. I nearly missed all the other,
many wonders of San Miguel and its environs as I really didn't ever
want to leave Casa de la Vista. -

Our Artist's Immersion in
San Miguel de Allende
What an exciting and breathtaking experience for us. The lovely restored Colonial house is the perfect base to explore San Miguel
Located on a quite cobblestone sreet
just a few blocks from the historic La Paroquia Church next to the town square. An endless number of galleries, antique shops & boutiques with lavish selections of folk art and crafts will delight you. Local artisans excellent
'typical' restaurants, mariachi music and friendly people are everywhere.
The open market assails your senses with the fragrance and sight of fresh produce and flowers as well as exotic tin wear, textiles,
pottery and jewelry.
After a day exploring the art and life of San Miguel return to your rooftop terraza for cocktails and stunning sunset views of the city.
You will be amazed at the modern amenities throughout the casa including a maid. This was indeed a welcoming home we will revisit many times in the years to come. -

We stayed in this beautiful home on our first visit to San Miguel last year and it was the best introduction we could have hoped for to this wonderful city.
It is a carefully restored colonial home that is full of brightness and light - The views from every level are spectacular and the location is perfect - a few blocks from the jardin but on a very quiet little street. We walked the cobblestones and looked until our feet and eyes were worn out and then returned to the comfort, warmth and beauty of this very special home. -

Left on 06/05/2009 for a stay in April 2008
This home is extremely well located and beautifully appointed - an
ideal base for our first visit to SMA. Our fondest memory of the trip
was sitting in the roof top garden, with the multiple church spires of
San Miguel arrayed before us, a red sun setting in the western sky.
Two bedrooms, both with balconies; a large living room and a
classically tiled kitchen, even a poolroom off the lower garden. Just a
few blocks down the hill to the center of San Miguel. For all the
international traveling we've done, this was truly one of our favorite
houses. Highly recommend! -

Tucson, AZGreat location and what a view!
Left on 06/05/2009 for a stay in December 2008
We really enjoyed our stay, filled up the place with adults and mid 20's kids. Multi-generational worked great. The kitchen is perfectly out-fitted so we cooked in several nights. The main shopping area is a short walk with fresh vegetables and fruits, meats, and flowers for the table. Of course fresh tortillas too.
The roof-top area was a great spot for margaritas at sunset each night. An upscale style environemnt that also worked for a family visit. I'm planning another trip in 2009 and will definately stay here.
