Kittery Point, Maine, United Stateswnderful time, great value, accomodating host
Left on 03/27/2013 for a stay in March 2013
The owners' (Perry and Donna) main goal was to make us happy and comfortable. They were ready with help, suggestions, and tips to make the trip the best possible. They take great pride(rightfully) in their property and if anything was wrong,it was fixed before we finished the sentence. Their appartments were immaculate, well furnished, and well equipped. Housekeeping and laundry are included.
Their property is in a suburb on a steep hill overlooking the central city. We walked to the city over steep, cobblestone streets, or we picked up a cab for less than three dollars. Cabs were plentiful and easy to get. There are lots of restuarants, a super market, and an open air market Tuesdays full of many fruits and vegtables. It makes you remember how good avacadoes and pineapples can be. The weather was wonderful, but we both were affected by the altitude at the beginning of the trip. San Miguel is brimming with charm and color..
Be sure and check with Perry and Donna concerning tranportation to the airport. -

Fremont, CAGreat location and hosts for a comfortable and relaxing stay in
Left on 12/28/2012 for a stay in December 2012
Our family of 3 (married couple and our 22 year old son) had a wonderful time staying at Casa Gilberto. The home is lovely inside and out. The owners, Perry and Donna, provided many extras and a wealth of information that helped make our stay comfortable and relaxing. On arrival, the refrigerator and kitchen were already stocked with items for a full breakfast and enough food to get us through the first day --in addition to staples and a full array of cooking and serving utensils. Their property manager, Francisco, was a valuable resource. He came by each day to make sure we had everything we needed and gave us insider tips on things to do in the area. A housekeeper is provided once a week and for a very small fee will do personal laundry as well. She had our laundry folded and returned within hours. We were also provided 2 cell phones to use locally. Although we didn't end up using the phones much, having them gave us a lot of security. Perry and Donna also arranged to have a driver provide transportation to and from the airport in Leon, Gto. The fee for the transportation was very reasonable and knowing that we had a safe, secure ride waiting for us when we arrived gave us a lot of confidence and comfort on the trips to and from the airport. My husband and I are fairly serious birders but had not expected to see many birds in San Miguel, but it turned out that Casa Gilberto is located within easy walking distance of several excellent birding locations and we ended up with quite a satisfying bird list for the trip. We are looking forward to returning to San Miguel some day and would definitely choose to stay at Casa Gilberto again.

My wife and I stayed in Casa Dona Maria, the 'garden cottage' as it were. Lovely 2 storey building at back of property with it's own garden. It has all the modern conveniences, very well laid out, beautiful windows and very comfortable with a real king size bed. Plus two features which seem to be unique to Mexico - unlimited huge bottles of purified water and a cell phone which you just have to put a tiny amount of money on to. Perry and Donna are extremely gracious, helpful hosts who provided us with lots of good information and made us feel at home. It's a great location, a 20 minute downhill walk to the historic center or a 20 peso cab (that's where the cell phone comes in handy. The upscale neighbourhood felt perfectly safe day or night with a huge 'desert' field 10 minutes away plus the arco nature reserve 20 minutes walk away, a paradise for birders! San Miguel has wonderful buildings and restaurants and despite the fact that ~10% of the population are expats, it is still a lovely mexican colonial town with very friendly people, many of whom speak English. We definitely plan to return.

It can be a little intimidating traveling alone, but I felt immediately comfortable when I arrived at 23 Fuentes and was welcomed warmly by Perry and Donna. They have created a very private and lovely spot in San Miguel. It's far enough from Centro to be quiet but close enough to be a 15 minute walk on San Miguel's lovely cobblestoned streets. I can't say enough about what great hosts Perry and Donna were during my stay in March 2012. A lovely bowl of fruit awaited me when I arrived, along with everything for breakfast (actually a fridge full of goodies that lasted through my stay.) They made helpful suggestions for things to see and do and extended a warm invite to cocktails in the evening. They helped me get a real feel for San Miguel. I am already looking forward to the next opportunity to stay with Donna and Perry in SMa!

Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in November 2011
We stayed in Casa Donna Marie and loved it!
Completed only a year ago, this "casita" is fully furnished with everything you could wish for. The open floor plan on the first floor with the cozy fireplace made staying home for an occasional meal delightful.
Breakfast in our private garden was a must every morning.
The master bedroom was spacious with views to treetops and the garden below.
Donna and Perry Pratt, our fabulous hosts, were a great source of information to the ins and outs of San Miguel. We enjoyed walking the cobblestone streets down to the center of town where we toured the churches with an English-speaking guide, had wonderful meals at restaurants the Pratts recommended, listened to street music, and enjoyed shopping and visiting art galleries.
The privacy of our "casita" in the beautiful atascadero neighborhood with its colorful houses dripping with bougainvillea was a vacation we hope to repeat again and again. -

Marblehead, MAA wonderful 2nd stay in the new casita Donna Maria!
Left on 01/04/2012 for a stay in December 2011
I was glad to return to The Pratt's properties two years after my first visit. This time, I stayed in the new Casita, which was perfect! Not only was it virtually brand new and well appointed, but I loved the interior decoration and the kitchen/1st floor was so nice, we opted to cook dinner in one night and pretend we lived there! The Pratts truly love San Miguel and their property manager was able to do most of our shopping for us. He was also helpful to have around in making other local recommendations. What I forgot was how much I enjoyed the charm of the European-esque cobblestone roads combined with being only a couple of blocks away from the botanical gardens.
The weather was in the 80's and dry during the day and in the 50's at night - never humid and always sunny! Perfect surroundings for long enjoyable and beautiful walks!

This newly renovated house is fantastic! It is just off the beaten path enough to be private, but you can still walk to the Centro (though you should take a taxi back if you have packages because the walk on the way back is rather steep). It is beautifully appointed and has all amenities. The Pratts are great hosts, very helpful and knowledgeable about everything to see and do in the area. We will definitely return for a longer stay.

Left on 06/30/2011 for a stay in December 2010
For our third visit to San Miguel we rented a 2-bedroom casita from the Pratts. This recently-renovated house sits in a pretty garden on a hillside just outside center of historical San Miguel. The site has a protected garden for those afternoons when not exploring the beautifully-preserved ancient city. Generous Pratt hospitality ensured that no concierge was needed! Yankee strangers are all part of the program for our hosts, who live in an adjoining casita, and drive back to Marblehead each summer.
Our travel budget watcher assures me there's no other place on earth with this combination of comfort, security, adventure, and hospitality for only $800/week. -

Casa Las Fuentes is a lovely, secure property just a short walk down the hill to town center. The unit was clean, thoughtfully and authentically decorated. The owners and property manager were available to answer any questions or give recommendations on sites and restaurants. Very impressed by the natural and artistic beauty of San Miguel, I would happily return! The hot springs made for an excellent day activity to cool down as well!

I couldn't imagine a better place for a break from the Pacific North Wet than the Pratt's hacienda in SMa. Donna and Perry are the consumate hosts and made getting oriented to the area very easy. They knew all the events, shopping, restaurants, sights and local events, and were accomodating to our every need. I could only wish for a longer stay!!

Concord, MAA time to remember!
Left on 04/06/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We recently returned from visiting our friends in San Miguel and we were able to stay at Casa Gilberto, one of their three guest houses. Our trip was wonderful and made more so by our beautiful accomodations. From the time we started planning our trip, Perry was extremely helpful in giving us all the information needed to get from the airport in Leon/Guanajuato to San Miguel. Even though we had a late arrival at their home both he and Donna had our dinner set out for us. One would think that they just would do this for friends but they are also extremely generous with other guests because we shared our meal and hospitality with lovely people staying in their other guest house. Donna's beautiful way of decorating her homes make the Mexican experience all the more wonderful. The guest house was comfortable and every need was met from the food stocked in the refrigerator to the information on the ins and outs of San Miguel. Donna knows the best places to eat, shop and activities to take part in. As hosts they are the best and made our trip one to remember.

We didn't know what to expect when we decided to visist San Miguel. All the news about visiting Mexico was negative. Did we luck out!! by deciding on renting for two weeks from Donna and Perry Pratt. They assisted with everything from arranging our airport transportation, stocking the fridge for our arrival, suggesting things we should do, to continually happily answering our numerous questions. The villa was extremely comfortable and always kept very clean, but the hilight was using the wonderful courtyard where we were often invited to share their hospitality and meet their friends. By the time our two weeks was up we felt sad to be leaving friends. This is one of the best experiences we have ever had and would recommend it to anyone looking to have a great, comfortable vacation to a wonderful city with first class accomodation and unbelivable friendly accomodating hosts.

This was our second year visitng Casa Gilberto. We were met by our hosts after a long flight with wine and Buenos Noches. Awakened the next morning to paradise.-azure skies and a stocked refrigerator.
The beautiful gardens had many nooks for a private read or sunbathe.
The attractions of San Miguel are infinite. It's hard to choose what do. But the best part of our visit were our gracious and fun loving hosts. They not only hosted us for cocktails, but included us in a couple of local parties where we met some of the fascinating expats and saw other beautiful homes. Would love to return and see and do more(or less). Arrived home very refreshed. -

Casa Gilberto is a fantastic property situated above a totally charming central square of historic San Miguel de allende. Forget what you read in the papers about Mexico. Here you are safe, secure, and pampered. The quarters basked in understated modern elegance and peace. In October during our stay the Monarch butterflies were migrating. If you have never seen trees packed so densely with beautiful butterflies, stay here. The butterflies were there most evenings. The owners, Perry and Donna Pratt, are ever so attentive without being intrusive. Occasional cocktails with them on a lush veranda were filled with warmth and humor. The Pratts made sure we had everything we needed. Because we were there during the celebration of the Day of the Dead, the Pratts made sure that we also were part of that most festive event.
San Miguel de allende is a wonderful destination. The town is easily walked, has two majestic cadethrals, trendy shops, galleries, and excellent restaurants. -

"If there is an award for being the friendliest and most hospitable vacation rental owners - Donna and Perry Pratt would be deserving recipients!
For two weeks in February 2010, we stayed at the newly constructed (Perry Pratt designed) casita, "Casa Donna Mariaâ€. We arrived after midnight but were nonetheless welcomed by our charming hosts, Donna and Perry. We were shown into a beautiful two-level house, comfortably furnished with everything that we would need for our stay...including food items for breakfast! As well, Donna has a flare for decorating, so the casita was full of artifacts, pictures and furnishings that introduced us to local Mexican arts and culture.
We were very impressed by the Pratts' hospitality on many occasions. For instance, on our first day, after we settled in a bit, Donna and Perry took me to the local super-store so I could stock up on additional groceries and to explain "how things workedâ€. Very helpful to a newcomer! Donna and Perry provided us with a lot of good information about the various goings-on in SMa, where to find the best shops, restaurants, how much to pay for things, etc. And on more than one occasion, we were invited to join them and their visiting friends at informal patio cocktail parties or to go out for a meal. They were very attentive hosts...we were so well taken care of throughout our two weeks' stay.
Of course, San Miguel de allende is an intriguing and interesting World Heritage city to visit - the "Paris of Mexico†has a lot to offer in the way of a 200-year-old history, many churches, excellent restaurants, galleries, museums, etc. Primarily because of Donna and Perry Pratt's warmth and hospitality last February, we will be returning for two weeks at the Casa Donna Maria in March 2011, and very much looking forward to it!â€

February 2010
Casa las Fuentes is located on top of a hill in the lovely, ancient Trucadero neighborhood which overlooks the city below and is within easy walking distance (about 10 minutes) to the Paroccia (Centro) area of San Miguel. Once entering through the ancient stone gate into the neighborhood, one walks over beautifully worn cobblestones, twisting and turning through the maze of ancient streets, past very old homes mixed with extremely contemporary homes. The vision is rich with the mix of gorgeous colors and old stonework. Soon one comes to the gate of Casa las Fuentes and rings the bell. Out come Donna and Perry Pratt to greet us. They've taken three period buildings and completely transformed them into cozy homes with lovely gardens and private outdoor seating areas (a number one requirement for that restful al fresco evening cocktail). The home is a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay! And most important, the Pratts are the most perfect hosts one could wish for; they are there for you! They even invited us to join them, their other renters and their personal guests for drinks on their patio. We love it so much there that we've already made plans to return next winter.
Now it's (next winter)...December 2010...we did return and we spent three weeks over Christmas; enjoyed every minute and explored yet even more places in and outside of San Miguel. We even brought along two other couples (for the other houses) to share the fun. All in all...a fantastic, beautiful experience! Many thanks to Donna and Perry Pratt for this "beautiful experience"! -

Our visit to San Miguel was amazing. Staying at Casa Cristobal enabled us to experience the best of SMa. Imagine having your own private home with a lovely garden in a gorgeous neighborhood overlooking the town. Casa Cristobal (and Casa Dona Marie next door where other friends stayed) is owned by Donna and Perry Pratt who were terrific hosts, providing us with information about events, ideas for restaurants, etc. The residences are an easy 15 minute walk to the Jardin and Parochia in the middle of town. Because of the great location of Casa Cristobal, we were able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of our residence while having very easy access to the wonders of downtown SMa. Staying at this residence was a key part of what made our visit to San Miguel so exceptional.
