Property Details

Casa de Mira, built seven years ago, incorporates the best of traditional Mexican architecture. It is one of four houses, which share a common entryway with a huge antique doorway, bovida ceiling and beautiful plantings.

It is located in convenient Colonia San Antonio, just a 10 to 15 minute walk from the Jardin, which is at the heart of the historic Centro district. It is a similar distance from the Instituto Allende, Belles Artes, Theatro Angela Peralta, the Biblioteca Publica (the English public library), the craft market and other places of interest.

There are excellent restaurants and markets and a po...pular Spanish language school within an easy 5 to 10 minute walk from the casa.

The house is three story, with kitchen, dining room, living room, patio, half bath and garage on the first floor, two bedrooms and a study on the second floor, master bedroom, reading room and terrace on the third floor, and a large terrace with shaded wet bar with small refrigerator, garden furniture and beautiful plantings on the roof. All bedrooms have their own bathroom, small balcony, gas burning fireplace and ceiling fan. The master bedroom has its own television set. The garage is suitable only for a small car, but for a larger car there is usually plenty of parking space available on the street right outside the casa.

Both of the terraces, each with their own tables with umbrellas and chairs, have magnificent views over the city. The roof-garden terrace also has a chaise lounge and comfortable chairs for reading and relaxing. The ground floor garden patio has a fountain, table and chairs

The house also has an elevator, which is very convenient for bringing food and dishes from the kitchen to the terraces on a tea caddy we bought for this purpose. It is a wonderful experience to be on either of the terraces as the sun is going down and watch the lights come on in San Miguel including the beautifully illuminated Parroquia and the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

The casa is fully equipped with two new flat screen television sets with many English language channels, radio with CD Player, DVD, a computer and printer, washing machine and dryer. The computer has a router which provides wi–fi service if you should want to use your own laptop. It also has Skype which we provide at no additional cost for making long distance calls. The kitchen has a brand new microwave, toaster, toaster oven, food processor, blender, juicer, pressure cooker and everything else needed for making gourmet meals. There is a charcoal barbeque on the roof terrace.

The house is fully furnished with premium quality furniture and furnishings, and is decorated with paintings and other artwork by well-known artists, many of them local artists. The walls have been painted in typical traditional Mexican colors and the rugs have been made to order to match the colors of the house, its paintings and its furniture.

  We loved Casa de Mira for its size, colors and art, spotlessness and rooftop views of San Miguel. It's close to the center in a friendly neighborhood with some good restaurants close by. The owners answered questions promptly and nothing was misrepresented. I give it an unconditional recommendation.

  Casa Mira is "as advertised”! Not only is the home warmly and eclectically decorated, it lacks for nothing in comfort: wonderful bedding, a beautifully equipped kitchen, good lighting, electronics for business and pleasure, and the glow of four fireplaces when it gets cool. Mira and Daren have thought of every need. Enjoy your meals in the (kitchen equipped) rooftop garden with exceptional views across San Miguel de allende or curl up with a book on the sunny third floor terrace. Walk everywhere you need to go; during the two months we were here, we used a taxi only to return from the Mega. The Jardin is less than a 15 minute walk, Juan de Dios Mercado and Warren Hardy Spanish School are a five-minute walk and the excellent seafood soup of Mariscolandia is around the corner. Calle alemeda has no traffic. Our best stay ever in SMa!

  I just read the comment in the guestbook and have to totally agree with everything that was said. What a fun and beautiful place to stay. We had such a nice time at Casa Mira that I'm sure we will return. Darren and Mira could not be nicer to deal with. They were always helpful with any questions we might have. We loved the comfortable beds and duvet covers. We were there for a cold and rainy February, but we couldn't have been more comfortable in their charming Casa. The rooftop view is amazing.

  We recently rented Casa de Mira for the month of October. This was our best San Miguel rental yet! The casa was even better than the pictures, especially the views. The owners have considered everything to make their guests comfortable. Daren and Mira were very helpful in answering any questions and their suggestions for neighborhood restaurants were right on! The beds and linens were luxury hotel quality and the kitchen was fully stocked with all appliances and cookware. We felt perfectly safe in this mixed neighborhood and made several friends who were renting just around the corner on Vergel. Unlike previous rentals, all the furniture was super comfortable. We definitely considered this "home" for our four week stay. I will definitely consider Casa de Mira for a future rental.

  Comfort, amenities and value in San Miguel de allende

  We are a family of four adults who love to travel and almost always rent condos, houses, cottages, or villas at our destinations. Of all the places we have stayed, Casa de Mira is right at the top in terms of comfort, location, amenities, and value. The description and the pictures are completely accurate - everything is as beautiful, clean and comfortable as it looks. The upper level patio is a great place to relax with a lovely view of the town. The street has no traffic, the walk to town is not difficult and we felt completely safe walking, even at night. The kitchen has everything you need in terms of equipment and even includes lots of basics such as salt, pepper, oil, spices and even coffee. Although it was cold at night during our stay in December, there were ample heaters in the house to keep us warm. The computer was great and Wi-Fi also allowed us to use our laptop all over the house. Finally, the owners are very responsive to requests and helpful in every way.
