Casita Sombrita (Shady Cottage) is situated on a hillside in the pristine jungle on the northern edge of the village of San Francisco, Nayarit, known affectionately to locals as San Pancho. This romantic casita is unique to most as it offers private access to a secluded beach, expansive outdoor living space with pool, WiFi and gated parking.

The front entrance leads you to a roomy air-conditioned bedroom with a comfy American queen size bed, full bathroom and reading sofa. The bedroom opens out onto a spacious private terrace, tucked into the palm treetops in the Mexican jungle and is equipped with a shaded outdoor kitchenette, dining t...able with chairs, lounge chairs and umbrella.

Outside the casita you will find a set of colorfully tiled steps leading down to the lower level, which encompasses a sizeable outdoor patio decorated throughout with Mexican painted tiles, a small enclosed bedroom with twin bed, detached powder room, more lounge chairs and full size ping pong table. A short walk along hand made stone steps lead you through lush vegetation to a jungle pool with outdoor shower all surrounded by palms and flowers.

Another and most extraordinary area is located on the top of a hill where two beach chairs sit upon a small tiled terrace overlooking the turquoise ocean and beach below. From this terrace, a steep trail takes you down to a secluded beach cove, shared by only a few neighbors.

  Quiet Jungle Hideaway with Private Beach

  We had never been to San Pancho before, but found this casita on the internet and decided it sounded perfect. We were not disappointed! From the moment we walked into it, down a beautiful, lovely walkway, we were charmed. The views of the jungle were fantastic and there was a huge patio/deck area that was surrounded by palms, flowers, and foliage. It was quiet and magical. The outdoor kitchen was so fun. The whole design worked very well and was very comfortable. It's quiet a hike down to the private beach, but even though it is very small, it was very lovely. If you are looking for a very charming, romantic hideaway, this fits the bill. San Pancho which is a five or ten minute drive is also a very small but charming Mexican town. It is clean and offers some very nice restaurants and taco bars. Our favorite (by far) was Bistro Organico. Here's a place to relax and get away from it all while being surrounded by stunning beauty.

  We very much enjoyed our stay at Casita Sombrita. This "guest house" close to "Casa Sombrita" was perfect for us. My husband and I had the upstairs area comprised of our bedroom with queen size bed and an outside kitchen as well as large veranda overlooking the jungle. There was a small bedroom downstairs for our daughter with separate bathroom. Her bedroom opened out onto a separate patio area leading to the pool. Bathrooms and stairways are beautifully tiled. The general feeling is one of privacy and intimacy. The walk down to the private beach is challenging - well over a 100 steps as well as dirt walkway down, but once you are on the beach, you feel as if you are on your on private beach. The lovely town of San Pancho is only a 5-10 minute drive. The driveway up to the house was steep, so it was helpful to have a jeep, as we did, but a car would be fine. We definitely plan on returning to San Pancho and hope to spend time at Casita Sombrita as well to make it even more special!
