Santa RosaBird calls at the margins of the day
Left on 04/24/2013 for a stay in March 2013
It is at the margins of the day, during the pre-dawn light or the crepuscular slant of sunset's afterglow, that the birds call. Fantastic tworls, hoots and song rising from the jungle tree tops that surround you.
A sensual peaceful place, with all the comforts you need but but none that you don't, meticulously constructed by skilled craftsman.
A quick walk into town, but its location out on the first hills out of town make it seem a world apart when you return home from the days adventures.
The separate guest cottage makes it a good place for 2 couples to share, or a family of 4-5. -

Pick this place and you'll be staying in a warm and inviting home -- not some anonymous rental. Everything about Casa Colibri is fabulous: location near town yet totally private; spectacular ocean and jungle views from every window and vantage point; charming decor and furnishings; pool/patio and BBQ area with large shady palapa for outdoor living; lush landscaping; well appointed kitchen with everything you need for casual snacks to full on entertaining. Casa Colibri is immaculately maintained so you'll find everything working perfectly. The owners have generously stocked the entertainment area with countless choices for music and movies -- and they also provide lots of info about local resources. I'll go back in a heartbeat and tell my friends about it as well.

Left on 01/22/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Casa Colibri is a magical place in a magical town. There were three "girlfriends" that share expenses the week before Christmas and we were all smitten by this wonderful home. All of the preplanning was impeccably followed up by allison so we were immediately able to get the "lay of the land" The house is in such a beautiful setting it was hard to leave home. The high ceilings with ceiling fans and large windows enabled us to enjoy suave tropical breezes. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were open to nature. Such fun!!! One word of caution: golf cart rentals are not recommended due to the very steep driveway, If you are in anyway struggling with walking be sure to rent a car not a golf cart!!! We had everything we needed. If you are planning on cooking you might want to pick up basics in town or in Bucceria en route.

San Luis obispo, CA.A little piece of Paradise
Left on 11/17/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My husband and I just got back from our stay at this beautiful piece of paradise. We have had the good fortune to visit San Pancho many times and have stayed in many different homes. We truly loved Casa Colibri.
There are so many good things to say about it. First off we saw this home when it was just begining to be build and expected a much smaller home, something like a guest house. That is not what we saw upon arrival. It is a large, beautifully built home. The ceilings in a few of the rooms are just amazing. You could lay in bed and look at the ceiling for hours. We loved how the casita was intirely seperate from the house, that is the guest house. So for two couples it works great. The views are wonderful, even from the lovely pool. We felt very at home here. Not far from town as others we have stayed in and that was really nice. The house manager Marc was great, and propery manager Caren Elkan is the best to work with. We have used here many times and have never been disappointed, ever. Thank you to the owners for sharing your beautiful home with us. We will be back!! -

A spectacular getaway! Great views of the ocean. The best sunsets imaginable. The perfect place for a romantic vacation in a small, friendly coastal Mexican village.
The house, pool, palapa and casita are perfectly designed for comfort in a classy setting. -

BelmontPerfection in Paradise!
Left on 11/08/2012 for a stay in October 2011
We loved this place. It's the ideal honeymoon spot whether it's your first honeymoon or your second or third. This brand new home, perfectly appointed, sits atop a hillside overlooking the beach. Thatmeans breathtaking sunsets as you cool off in the crystalline blue pool (private enough for clothing optional!) or make dinner on the outdoor grill in the kitchen palapa. We played golf on the 9 hole course next door. The sweet little town of San Pancho is a 5 minute walk away, and includes beaches, a few shops and excellent local food -- but it is not touristy at all. The bigger town of Sayulita is an easy 10 minute drive down the road, if activity and shopping is what you want.
We travel and rent vacation homes all over the world, and this is by far one of the best we've rented. The owners have gone out of their way to make it beautiful and comfortable for guests. With a second bedroom it also works well for small families with kids. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and are looking forward to our next visit.

ColoradoDreamy, private, serene hideway with exquisite decor and walk in
Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012
San Pancho is just north of Sayulita, but in spirit, is so far away from the hustle, bustle of Sayulita! Walking into Casa Colibri (house of the hummingbird) is just the beginning of this deeply pleasureable, sensuous experience. The grounds are beautifully designed with colorful and exotic plants in view from all exterior and interior points on the property. The furnishings and art through out further intensify the Nayarit, Mexico ambiance. The main house has the master bedroom with views of the jungle to the back and the ocean towards the front. The bedroom opens onto its own private balcony that overlooks the infinity pool and then to the jungle and then to the ocean. The master bath is open to the outside, spacious and again beautifully designed and decorated. You can watch the ocean sunset while you prepare dinner (fresh fish from the local fishermen) and mix margarita's. One of the hardest decisions to make is whether to dine outside under the room sized palapa or in the brick domed dining room (one of three domed ceilings). And then there is the Casita with a spacious bedroom with a queen and a single bed, full bath with outdoor garden and its own ocean view balcony !!! Very private with great access to the pool and outdoor area and perfect for a couple (with or without child) who enjoys the company of their friends staying in and sharing the main house. Favorite spot -- under the palapa watching the sunset after a refreshing dip in the pool!!
San Pancho is a lovely little village, with shops and restaurants run primarily by local residents, grocerias are accessbile by a short walk to town. There is a nine hole golf course next to Casa Colibri for golfing folks. Puerta Vallarta, Sayulita and mountain towns are within a day's trip--if you actually feel like leaving--we didn't!! -

Sebastopolsomething for everyone
Left on 11/03/2012 for a stay in February 2011
My wife and I stayed at Casa Colibri for a week in February and had a great time. We love to cook and the kitchen was very well equipped. Eating on the deck was relaxing and we saw spouting whales heading north along the coastline. We are not birders but went on a fascinating bird watching tour that was an easy walk from the Casa and saw an astonishing assortment of waterbirds as well as field birds.
The house was spotless when we arrived and we enjoyed using both indoor and outdoor spaces to relax, read, or walk to the beach or into town.
Loved our stay at Casa Colibri and will defintitely be back. -

We loved our stay at Casa Colibri! As active birders we spotted Tyras and Collared Trogons the first morning of our stay on the beautiful patio area adjoining the pool. We are planning to return next year for a longer birding excursion with Casa Colibri as our homebase.
