Rockford, IL, United StatesGreat location away from town, but close enough to bike/cart

Once you open the front door and enter the foyer, the veiw of the pier and ocean is paradise!! The accommodations met our needs and location was great!! Ana and Eric, the Belizian property managers, were helpful and very responsive. Could not be better. If anything was a negative, is that the unit could use more dishes ( glasses, pots and pans, etc ) As my wife and I used the kithech to cook shrimp we bought from a local vendor and breakfast. There is a local restaurant in walking distance ( closed during our stay for remodeling ) and a local grocery store on the corner of the main road ( to purchase beer, rum, beans, eggs, juice, tortilla's etc ). Some of the units had full time residents that were very friendly and welcomed us. If you like the ocean view from your balcony, unit #19 is place to rent. Highly recommended. John and Jane

The ground were kept clean and neat. We loved swimming in the very clean pool. All the workers (roger/abel) were kind and there to help if needed. We enjoyed our stay and will stay at Caribe Island again in the future.

United StatesDeceptive Experience
Left on 03/19/2012 for a stay in March 2012
I booked my vacation through VRBO and was then redirected to Red Hammock Hospitality. There were fees, taxes, and charges that I did not expect until after I received the invoice. I had to change rooms due to availability and was charged twice for a damage waiver. There are people here that rented other condo's and were then redirected here. The video and information was not what was rented and paid for. The one bedroom I stayed in had a great view. The room was old in appearance, appliances were questionable, rusted and in disrepear. The furniture had stains on them, the curtains and pillows on the wall had mildew, stains or both. This should be considered as a bottom basement type of deal. If your looking for nice, look elsewhere.

Caribe Island Resort was the perfect place for my family to relax and enjoy this beautiful island. Our rental agent, Mark, was extremely helpful in explaining the details of the property and what we can expect from this trip. The staff here was very helpful, and they were always there when we needed them. The location and views are great. The unit was clean, spacious, and fully functioning. Thanks again!

Eden, UTTRUE Ocean View!
Left on 05/06/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I worked directly with Ana & Erik the local property managers and they were OUTSTANDING in vacation planning assistance with great attention to detail and client care.
This is one time when "ocean view" is a on the beach ocean view with a pier convenient for swimming/snorkeling. Being on the beach allowed us to keep the windows & doors open to allow the wonderful ocean breeze through, even into the bedroom; no need to run the AC at all! This is a well kept somewhat dated condo with a reasonably stocked kitchen for eating in; plenty of local markets. Some of the furnishings have taken a beating over time as has the minimal wall art works.
Location was excellent (Suya Tours next door with so much to do) and challenging to get to town if you don't rent a cart; not a personal problem as we prefer walk or bike (6 shared bikes w/locks on property) but keep this in mind for going out in the evening if not dining in. The grounds were well looked after and night security keeps you feeling safe.
I felt with the ocean view location, weekly cost and full kitchen this was a good value. -

Missoula, MTBeautiful View, Nice overall place to stay.

Caribe Island Condos are located in a quiet area south of San Pedro. If you stay here you will want a golf cart. The grounds around the condo were very nicely kept and the view from our condo was beautiful. The condo on a whole was nice but there were a few things that needed cleaning/upgraded or fixed in our unit. The couch was stained and dirty and the refrigerator was also in need of help. The sink in the bathroom didn't drain and the mirrors/windows needed a windex makeover..of which I did on day two of our stay. I would have told the manager but I didn't see him after we checked in. This was our first visit so I have nothing to compare our stay with. I will say that the tour company next door was awesome. We had a marvelous time and I hope to visit San Pedro again. I probably will try someplace new.

We stayed in #19. I believe we had the best view on the entire island. It was a great get away!

Dallas, TexasMajor Deficiencies
Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in December 2010
We knew we were in trouble when the manager (in the U.S.) botched our confirmed reservation only days before our arrival, forcing us to leave a day early. Only a sample of the long list of problems at the property:
1) Inadequate window screens that let in mosquitos.
2) Soiled and/or damaged furniture.
3) Hot water supply inadequate even with careful use.
4) Poorly equipped kitchen.
We strongly advise against visiting Belize in general. The diving and snorkeling may rival Cozumel in some places, but basic services and standards of living are vastly inferior and in many cases more costly. -

,Accomodations exceeded my expectations - THANK YOU CARIBE ISLAND
Left on 03/29/2010 for a stay in March 2010
We did a lot of research prior to this trip for many reasons. First, we heard that many places were simply not what they advertised. Second, location on this island is very important. If you stay close to town, it can be crowded and noisy. If you stay too far north, you are isolated because there is hardly a road and transportation is done exclusively by water taxi. Several friends have stayed at Caribe Island Resort because it is just about 1.5 miles south of town, just far enough from the noise, but easily accessible by golf cart, bike or taxi. The beach at this resort is simply stunning. We stayed at Unit #7 which is first floor just about 35 feet from the water. The unit was clean, spacious, and well appointed. The staff was caring and available to me at all times. There is a great dive shop on premises, and we used them for some of our excursions..what a great time. The fishing right around the resort is surprisingly good, taking our bikes a bit more south we found even better fishing for bonefish and tarpon. Thanks you to the staff who worked very hard to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. We cant wait to come back next spring!!

Gastonia, NCcaribe villas unit 19
Left on 03/10/2010 for a stay in February 2010
The furniture was old and worn, the toilet did not flush properly, the A/C linked water into the bedroom, and there were termites in the door leading out onto the patio. We were told that wifi was in the units and actually that is in written materials from caribe describing the property. There was no wifi. The best thing about stay was location but unit was marginal. Eric and Ana the managers were very helpful.
