      The Starfire Chapel experience

Left on 04/15/2013 for a stay in August 2012

I stayed in the Starfire Cabin shortly after it was built in august 2012. The craftsmanship that went into this work of art was superb. Many times I sat and let my eyes wander at various aspects of and in the structure, such as how the rafters had all been meticuously fitted at both the peak and wall ends. The stones in the fireplace seemed to have been collected over the years as the most artful pieces were carefully fitted to make a masterwork upon completion. A gorgeous log spiral staircase is most unusual, unlike anthing I had seen in 70 years. On and on the details of a 3 year project unfolded. Serenity and peace that usually manifests in a church was sensed within. The sleep and restfulness was refreshing. The extensive organic flower, fruit and vegetable garden helped produce a fine chef's meals.I highly recommend a stay here with fine kayaking, hiking and sight seeing.

Thank you and bless you for creating a work of love to share!

Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in March 2013

My stay at the Star Fire Cabin was a big treat to experience on many levels: Peaceful deep sleep, aesthetically pleasing details of this home/cabin, looking at the wood craftsmanship and decorating of it all. I specially like the placing of the windows and sky lights that allowed me to take in the serenity of the woods. And I love kitchens so I noticed the user friendly amenities. I stayed in the cozy and plenty of head room loft space, since I like getting a birds eye view. The railing and stair case is sturdy and delightful. The owners were very respectful and hospitable. It was immaculately clean, the photos accurately reflect the grace of the experience. I recommend taking the time to walk on George and Kristina's property and getting to know them over a nice cup of afternoon tea. I thoroughly liked taking a walk through their magical garden - even in the snow. I also recommend taking a drive to Garfield Bay and soak up the beauty of the lake and the view of the Monarch Mountains. My friend Janet and I soaked up every minute. I walked out feeling like I wanted to stay a week. Thank you both!!! Jennifer

      Hello George and Christine,

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the amazing retreat experience I enjoyed while staying with you recently. Your log cabin is truly a sacred space that soothes the soul and opens the mind. I found it almost too beautiful to look upon, and even more difficult to leave. You will definitely be seeing me again!

      Sincerely,

      Magical weekend!

Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013

My husband and I had spent three magical nights at Starfire for our anniversary. The log cabin is gorgeous down to every detail...wood burning fire surrounded by local river rocks, table created from trees from the property, well-chosen books and magazines to read, cozy nooks for relaxing! With no TV or Internet, we could truly unwind. We took a long snowshoe our first morning, right out the cabin door! When we needed a break from snowy wonderland, we drove the 10 minutes into charming Sandpoint and enjoyed some good meals and walked around the shops. Very friendly community. George and Kristina were very thoughtful hosts, available if we needed them, but otherwise, out of sight. We look forward to returning another winter and hopefully a summer visit, too! High recommendations!!

      A Little Bit of Heaven

Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in December 2012

We spent a weekend in this charming cabin in early December. It was the perfect getaway from our busy lives. We had intended to go out & about, but the cabin was so warm, cozy and inviting that we spent most of our time just relaxing at home. Everywhere you look, you can see the creativity & craftsmanship that went into this sanctuary: from the immense, hand-hewn logs, to the charming little details. We were perfectly content to sit by the warm stove and watch the snow gently falling outside. Our hosts, George & Kristina were gracious & welcoming. After 3 days, we felt nourished and renewed in body & spirit. I would recommend Starfire Cabin wholeheartedly for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in North Idaho.

Sweet cabin.. great place to stay

Left on 02/21/2013 for a stay in November 2012

We loved this excellent cabin. Very beautiful inside and out. The property and grounds are impressive and natural.. created by a master gardener and a craftsman/artist builder. The cabin is private but also close enough to the main house for any needs you might have. The owners are kind, helpful and accommodating. We definitely recommend staying here.
