... You have your choice of two houses on the same property. One, known as Kots House, is a 2-story, 4-bedroom, 2-bath home built in the late 1800's and recently fully remodeled. It will sleep 9 people. The other, known as Kots Studio, is smaller, also 2-story, 2-bedroom, 2-bath, and will sleep 4 people. Each has its own private yard.

The larger Kots House (4 bedrooms) features 1 California King bed upstairs, 1 regular King bed downstairs, 1 Queen bed upstairs, 1 Double bunk bed downstairs (the bottom bunk bed is a double bed with a single bed on top).

It has a large, pleasant family kitchen, fully equipped with many extras. The Gathering Table seats 8 and there is counter seating for 2 adults or 3 children. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware, glasses, coffee pot, teapot and many other useful items not usually provided in rentals. There is also a washer and dryer in the house.

There is cable TV in the kitchen as well as the living room, and plenty of movies on DVD to watch. There is also a movable electric fireplace made by the Amish from oak trees.

There is a mural of the Schweitzer Basin in the living room of Kots House that was painted by Russell Kotschevar, a well known local businessman who owned and built a local pub downtown. He also carved 'Pend O'Reille Pete', a larger-than-life-size statue which is displayed at US Bank just a couple of blocks from the property. 'Pete' is pretty famous and travels to various exhibits all over the country.

The property has a small, grassy front yard and there are large, beautiful trees lining the street. The back yard is small and completely fenced with an outdoor firepit, a BBQ grill, table & chairs, and a covered, cushioned 3 seat swing.

Smoking is permitted on the covered outdoor patio and the yard , but smoking inside the rental houses is not allowed and will result in the loss of deposit. Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional deposits or rental fees may apply. There is room for 2-3 cars to be parked in the driveway next to the house.

Kots Studio is a 2-story, 2-bedroom, 2-bath house with one King bed and one Queen bed upstairs, to sleep 4. It was originally the studio of Russell Kotschevar, who carved “Pend O’Reille Pete” in this very house, which is why it became known as “Kots Studio.”

The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware, glasses, coffee pot, teapot and many other useful items.

There is cable TV and plenty of movies on DVD to watch. It has its own private small back yard and a large covered patio out front. There is parking for 2 cars off the alley next to the house. The property is half a block from downtown Sandpoint, about 6 miles from Schweitzer Ski Resort and within walking distance to Lake Pend O'Reille and City Beach Park, as well as shopping, dining, Farmer's Market and most everything else Sandpoint has to offer.

Sandpoint is a quaint, fun, friendly, little town on Lake Pend O’Reille at the base of the Schweitzer Ski Resort. Travel & Leisure Magazine, in their March 2012 issue, named Sandpoint as one of ‘America’s Prettiest Winter Towns’, and they are right!

In summer, there are live concerts on Lake Pend O’Reille with big-name bands, the Art Walk, Galleries, Art & Craft Shows, Auctions, Flea Market, Wine Tasting, and Lakeside Restaurants. Coldwater Creek’s Home Office is in downtown Sandpoint on 1st Ave. There is a Farmer’s Market 2 blocks from the house (summers only) offering everything from fresh vegetables, fruits, baked & canned goods to jewelry and crafts. A little town with big things to do.

In winter, you can’t beat the skiing. Just a fifteen minute drive from Schweitzer Ski Resort, now expanded to nine ski lifts, 2900 skiable acres plus “open bowl” skiing! 92 ski trails, YES, ninety-two! 10% beginners & 40% intermediates. Sandpoint is a skiers and snowboarders paradise and Idaho’s best kept secret, with multiple jumps and lighted-trail night skiing! And if you’re a die-hard fisherman, try the ice-fishing on the lake.

Kotschevar House is only 5 blocks from the beautiful, grassy park that borders the City Beach area. It is an easy walk anywhere in town for numerous restaurants & shops & activities. Public access to boat ramp 3 or 4 blocks away, and The Mountain & skiing is about a 6 mile drive from the house. Sandpoint is at the foot of the beautiful Schweitzer Basin and the Cabinet mountains are clearly visible - in any direction one looks, there are mountains coming down almost to Lake Pend O'Reille.

Holiday rates: Christmas week through New Year’s, Easter, July 4th, Memorial Day, President’s Day, etc: $275/nt, $1800/wk. (Holiday Rates take precedence over all other rates and a minimum stay unless other arrangements are made with the manager or asst. manager, in writing.)

Fees: Lodging tax: 8%. Non-refundable cleaning fee for Kots House: $175. Non-refundable cleaning fee for Kots Studio: $125.

  Well located in central Sandpoint, easy access to everything. A unique house that appears to have grown rather than been built -- little nooks & corners everywhere. Sleeping accommodations variable, as 2 retired couples we found the upstairs a little trying, but the downstairs was good. Brought back memories of our ski chalet days, & would be ideal for a crowd of younger skiiers, mainly singles, in my opinion. Wehad fun and were happy with the value. I'd recommend to my more energetic friends. Not a spot for lounging around in.

  This home has it all, convenient location, updated interior and easy access. It's within walking distance of downtown, the lake, restaurants, marina, shopping and the park for the Farmer's Market.
  Five of us shared the multiple bedrooms and baths with ample space for all.
  The upgraded kitchen has a glass brick wall that floods the counter with natural light; what an innovative concept. The mural in the living room adds a sense of appreciation for the surrounding mountains, water and trees.
  Highly recommended!!

  Fun in Sandpoint

  We really enjoyed our stay. Lots of room, full kitchen, and jacuzzi tub off the master bedroom. Close to downtown and the sights. The onsite manager was informative and nice, too. Can't think of any negatives, other than maybe it could have snowed another foot for our taste.

  I have stayed at the Kotschevar House 3 times with plans to return this year for my forth.
  It is such a comfortable setting. The beds are wonderful. The kitchen is spacious and easy to work in.
  The front room has a mural painted by a well known artist from Sand Point. I fell in love with the mural.
  Shopping, banks, resturants, the lake and many points of interest are within a short walk.
  This is a user friendly and over all friendly house.

  Sandpoint is a awesome vacation town.........My family and I were lucky enough to find this darling vacation home so close to downtown. It was supplied with all cooking needs. Cooking in or dinning out you have it all. It's a short walk to the beautiful beach or downtown for all the wonderful shopping along with so much to see.
  The house is very clean and well kept. Ideal for our family.

  My family, friends and I rented this house for a holiday ski trip. It was our first trip to Sandpoint, ID and to the local ski resort. After an extensive search for accomodations, I found Kotschevar House to be the best value I could find, particularly on such short notice and needing sleeping arrangements for eight. We could not have been more pleased, as it's a four bedroom, with two living areas and a huge kitchen/ dining area. It's a full kitchen and fully equipped, and we saved a lot of money having the ability to prepare our own meals. It has been beautifully re-modeled and updated. Conveniently located a brief 30 minute drive up the mountain to the ski resort, it was fantastic to be able to return from a long day of skiing and be able to soak my weary, aging muscles in the brand-new whirlpool tub, large enough for two, in the master bedroom! The amount of money we saved on lodging and meals literally paid for the skiing, and we had the privacy and convenience of a private home! They even have a small apartment behind the house for someone needing additional sleeping arrangements of lodging! We were ecstatic about our stay and vacation, and will return soon, possibly for Spring Break if it's available.

  Charm, Comfort & Convenience! Loved it!

  My girlfriends and I get together every couple of years and like to try new
  places to stay. This year we decided to stay in the newly remodeled
  Kotchevar House!
  We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to find that the house had a
  very comfy cozy atmosphere. The house was very clean and was just as the
  owner told us it would be.
  I was especially impressed with the location of this home because it is
  literally in the mainstream of the quaint town of Sandpoint.
  We were able to walk to everything we wanted to do.
  There was everything that one might need if we wanted to cook a
  meal(which we did not as we ate at one of the many great restaurants that
  were close by)in the fully stocked bright kitchen. The whirl bath in the
  master was a delight to have. The mural on the living room wall was
  beautiful. The layout was perfect for us 4 girls.
  The owner was very helpful in answering our questions and very quick to
  return our security deposit when we returned back home after our trip was
  over. The owner has managed to make Kotchevar House feel like you are
  staying at a friends house for the weekend and not a rental!
  I travel a lot and am not too easily impressed with most places and would
  have to say that this was not your average rental house.
  It was very reasonably priced and exceeded my expectations. I hope to
  make it back to Sandpoint again this summer and if I do I will surely rent
  Kotchevar House again.
