Blind Pass Condominiums are unique on Sanibel with a location that is private and quiet. They are not directly on the beach, but offer a lovely, short walk to the beach with no streets to cross. If anyone goes to Sanibel Island you don't need to look any further for a wonderful place to stay. Syl and Joe's has everything we like in a weekly rental and even some things we hadn't ever thought of. The interior is painted a soft green and orange, which lends a Caribbean feel, and overlooks lush greenery just outside the window-coconut and orchid trees. It has a well supplied kitchen, a beautiful living area, comfortable beds, beach chairs and a cart to roll them to the beach, games, and even some really great Dvd's to watch while you rest up from the morning and get ready for the late afternoon walks on the beach, hunt for shells, or to see the dramatic sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. The complex offers free use of kayaks to paddle down a lazy river ending where you can walk across to a beach on the gulf. You'll get to see a multitude of birds on islands that practically swim up to you, Osprey nests, and even a rather small alligator that's afraid of people-so don't be afraid to go paddling, you'll miss a real treat. they also have two excellently maintained tennis courts so don't forget to bring your rackets. They'll loan you ones if you forget and even tennis balls as well. Rent bicycles for the whole week(very reasonable) and pay the small fee to have them delivered right to the bicycle racks at Blind Pass. They'll even pick them up free taking that burden off of you when you have to go home. This is the natural side of the island with a short walk to the beach where you'll find a multitude of shells-one of the best in the world I understand. Don't go without seeing Lighthouse Beach on the other end of the island though where you'll be able to look across a body of water and see Fort Myers. Let me also say that the owners are a delight to work with, being very helpful-quick to respond to your requests and the kind of people you would like to rent from. In short, this is a Caribbean paradise right here in the us. You'll be happy staying here.

Burlington North CarolinaSerenity and a Slice of Paradise in Sanibel
Left on 10/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012
At Syl and Joe's Sanibel condo, my family found the vacation experience that we'd always been searching for, but always eluded us. It was, in a word...perfect. From the moment we drove up to the Blind Pass Condo's, I felt the weeks and weeks of corporate-fueled stress melt away. We've always taken our three children to hotel chains, which never seemed to work for a family of five. Syl & Joe's condo was roomy and well appointed and gave me a feeling of being a guest in a home...not a vacationer. Lovely décor and furnishings set the tropical tone with a west-Indies flair...accented by artwork and native shells. The children (ages 8, 14, 17) were thrilled with the pool/beach toys, board games, cards, and thoughtful things left for guests of all ages to discover. The kitchen was bright and well-stocked with utensils and appliances for a large meal, simple snack, or just a morning pot of coffee.
Location, location, location... the condo was the perfect location for us. The kids loved the pool and met a few new friends. As lovers of natural habitats, the footbridge over the lagoon and natural dunes gave us picture-postcard views during our short walk to the beach. As for the beach...no words do it justice... other than "perfection." We fished, shell-collected, swam and had friendly visits from dolphins and a manatee!
For nightlife, tourism, and a few festive dinners, we visited both Captiva and Sanibel and were just a short drive away from both areas, which was just what we were looking for. Paradise... yet close enough aND far enough to the action!
My children have told me that this was the best vacation we'd ever taken...and I most certainly agree. I cannot wait to come back and book Syl & Joe's Blind Pass condo and hope to make it a yearly tradition.

This is our 2nd year going to Sanibel for a week vacation. My 9 yr old nephew loves the beach so we were looking for a cost effective/centrally located place to stay. The condo is very nice, it was our fault because we were looking for place right on the beach, there is about 5 min or so walk to get there. But at this time of year the bugs were out. The first day all 4 of us had bites all over our arms and legs. The beach was wonderful, weather great and the condo was very nice for 4. The kids loved having their own space and we could all meet in the middle. The overall location appeared more geared to adults (the community pool for one), so we were concerned about making too much noise. With a 5yr old and 9 yr old, we did our best. Overall, it was a very nice place.

We just returned from a wonderful 12 day stay at Syl and Joe's condo. The condo is furnished really nicely with a well equipped kitchen. The walk to the beach is 5-7 minutes. The beach is beautiful-not very crowded and filled with "designer” shells. We found angel wings and a lion's paw not too far from the beach entrance. This is our 5th trip to Sanibel and Syl and Joe's did not disappoint. The grounds of the condo are very well maintained. The pool is nice sized and clean and there are at least 5 gas grills for use. We enjoyed Doc Fords for dinner, and the Lighthouse Café for breakfast. Pinocchio's is the best ice cream on the island.

Left on 06/26/2012 for a stay in June 2012
What's not to love? We were delighted with the Blind Pass Condo location! We felt comfortable in the natural setting. Driving to Jerry's Market or to restaurants on the island was an easy ten minute drive. We were happy to be in a quiet natural area. The Condo location was close to the assigned covered parking place, close to the lovely pool, close to the shell washing station, and a lovely walk through a natural area to the beach. We loved watching the resident osprey family, we observed manatees in the channel and watched birds and other wildlife along the way. When you get to the beach it is shelling, walking, swimming and sunsets that you can only dream about. Thanks for the wonderful towels, linens, perfect pillows and mattresses! We appreciated the travel book basket and most especially the beach push-cart, chairs, umbrella, and various other beach accessories. Owner Sylvia was very helpful in answering my questions and the Blind Pass Staff was helpful also. We visited the Ding Darling Nature Loop daily and were so lucky to have observed so many birds and other wildlife. Doc Fords was so good we had to eat there twice. Sanibel Grill and Island Cow were also wonderful. Of course we had to frequent Pinnochios for ice cream. We spent time shelling at Lighthouse Beach and Blind Pass Beach and Bowman Beach. Good thing the us Post Office was able to mail and deliver two boxes of shells to our home in Sacramento, California. We loved our visit and you will too!

Syl and Joe's condo was the perfect size for our family which includes 3 tween-aged girls. Since we have been there it looks like new furniture has been purchased along with new bedding in the 2nd bedroom. However, the walk to the beach is way too far, especially if you have little kids, and the inlet of water that you have to cross to get to the beach is very buggy and smells awful. While my husband and I have been to Sanibel many times before we had kids and we love it, our girls would have liked to be on a beach that had other kids to interact with (usually only a few families sit out front by our condo entrance to the beach). Also, when going in the summer be prepared for big crowds at the pool.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. As it has been 2 years since your stay, there have been many updates in our condo....new furniture and new kitchen counter tops among them. We update carpeting, mattresses and upholstered furniture with regularity.
I'm sorry to read that the location of the complex did not work for you though somewhat surprised that you did not find enough families to interact with. As you state, the complex is pretty busy in the summer and 90 percent of those visitors are families with children.
The beach front units do not offer the space that our complex does and are generally 30 percent more expensive, so the walk becomes insignificant in contrast to comfort and affordability for many of our guests.
Once again, we do appreciate when our guests do let us know of their stay. -

Can't say enough good things about our visit to Sanibel. The condo is beautifully furnished, very comfortable with all the necessities. The complex was extremely quiet, which made it all the more relaxing. Pool is a 1-2 minute walk away, with well-maintained, lush landscaping to look at along the way. The pool itself was very clean and nice. The walk to the beach is about 5 minutes, with a very nice footbridge to get you over the lagoon, and a sandy path then to the beach. There was an osprey nest along the way as well. Shelling is incredible and addicting, as are the the sunsets. The beach was lovely and the water warm, dolphin sightings were a daily occurrence and another guest said a manatee swam right up to them. As I said, can't say enough good things about our stay! Would definitley recommend!

Writing from California after returning from a wonderful stay at the Blind Pass Condo. As Californians, we usually vacation in Hawaii, but after reading many articles about the shelling on Sanibel, we just had to give it a try! I must say I was smitten with Sanibel right off the bat and I loved the condo. The beach just in front of the condo had amazing shelling, and I had to ship home my shells as there were just too many to carry!! I will forever be a fan. Thank you to Sylvia for the seamless rental process and for the wonderful amenities you have provided for your guests in your condo. We especially appreciated the beach cart in the closet to carry our things back and forth to the beach. I am hoping to be back sometime in the future!!

This review is a little late, but wanted to share our wonderful vacation experience at Blind Pass.
My husband and I traveled from North Carolina to spend some time in South West Fla. and spent the 1st week of our trip, with another couple, at Syl & Joe's Blind Pass Condo, E201. We all felt the beautifully decorated condo was the perfect accomodation for two adult couples traveling together. The two ensuite bedrooms (great beds), both very spacious, were split plan & equally & nicely equipped. The fully stocked kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals with the living & dining areas providing lots of comfort. We enjoyed a very relaxing & extremely comfortable stay & were delighted by the art work in the unit, not cookie cuter stuff, but very engaging. Sanibel is a beautiful island full of nature & outdoor activities. The well manicured condo complex, which is surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping, is a short walk to the beach where some of this nature was always observed along the way. One of the biggest enjoyment was the easy access, large & lovely pool with ample seating and lounge chairs. We had compared prices & felt the value of the condo, this complex & location was very easy to see. We would not hesitate to return to Sanibel & Blind Pass condo E201 & look forward to our next stay. Highly Recommeded!!Response from Sylvia Guarino - 04/17/2012

We reently spent my Grandson's 6th birthday at Syl and Joes Sanibel Blind Pass E201. The accomadations were perfect. The kitchen was well equiped for any amount of cooking guests might want to do. The bedrooms and living area were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The grounds are well kept and beautifully landscaped, lush foliage, flowering plants and palm trees. A short walk brought us over the dunes to a pristine beach. I completely enjoyed my stay at the condo and would highly recommend it to family and friends.

We rented E201 at Blind Pass Condominiums for a week. It was absolutely perfect. Lots of space, beautifully furnished, and all the comforts of home. We especially enjoyed the jigsaw puzzles. It was also nice to find everything we needed to enjoy the beach. The kids loved the pool as well, and the deck area was very comfortable for the waiting parents!
The island is very beautiful. We loved the beaches, and came home with way too many shells! The sunset over on Captiva was the finest we've ever seen. We visited the Darling Wildlife Refuge, as well as the Naples Zoo, both very enjoyable. Hope to go back again and rent here!

Left on 07/11/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We have been to Sanibel before, but this is our best experience!
Beautiful condo, with absolutely everything you need.
On arrival the condo was spotlessly cleaned, with plenty of towels - also special pool/beach towels. Kitchen cabinets are well equipped with all you need for preparing dinner (thankfully also a little bit of salt and pepper - we forgot to buy). Bedrooms are large with great beds and nice furniture and each has a really nice bath rooms, living room /dining room are great!
Grounds were well maintained and looked super nice. Pool was clean and of good size, plenty of sun chairs. There are 4 large gas barbeques behind the reception - they looked great.
Nice walk down to the beach (maybe 3-5 minutes), we even found a "beach trolley” in our closet, loaded it with towels, beach umbrella, chairs and cooler - no problems with distance! The beach is gorgeous, very few others when we where there, lots of shells (yep, we got up at the crack of dawn, 6 am, and went shelling, found lots of treasures).
Easy parking too!
For a family of sun seeking Norwegians this place was perfect and we highly recommend it:):):) -

Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We had a fantastic time on Sanibel. E201 was lovely, a home from home.
We loved the condo, very comfortable, the main bedroom was very nice and comfortable.
We loved the Sunset Grill, breakfast and dinner and we liked the Lazy Flamingo. George and Wendy's was also good. We had 2 pretty good dinners at Doc Fords and liked the Sanibel Deli.
The beach was great, and we liked the walk to the beach over the pond full of fish, and a few alligators. We loved how quiet the beach was and there was always some wildlife to watch. One day a manatee swam past.
We took the cruise to Cabbage Key and Useppa, very good and we got a great dolphin show. We took the 'Ding' tram. It was good but we were a bit late for most of the birds. We did see some Roseate Spoonbills.
We thought it might be a good idea to leave a journal in the condo so people could read previous visitors thoughts about what they enjoyed doing.
Overall we loved the whole experience and hope to visit again.
Best wishes

Thank you so much for allowing us the use of your condo for our vacation!
The condo was perfect for us; our oldest slept on the pullout sofa, the younger two in the second bedroom. I don't sleep well anywhere, but found the beds so comfy that I slept like a rock almost every night we were there.
The condo was very well equipped; other than a grater I wasn't at a loss for anything. We cooked most meals there but did head down to Doc Ford's to try their Yucatan Shrimp - yum!!!
We used the grills, the tennis courts, but never got around to the kayaks. We visited the pool but spent 99% of our time at the beach. We loved the walk back and forth; saw herons and osprey, crabs, fish and even a black snake. The sunsets were so beautiful; I have some incredible pictures!
We met some folks from the condos; a few neighbors and another owner in a different section; all extremely nice, welcoming and friendly. We dealt with the staff only to check in and out; but they were extremely friendly for our short conversations with them.
Initially, we had planned on a bunch of things to do off the island, but we came and didn't leave the island until Friday. We spent our time relaxing, shelling, exploring and riding bikes.
We all fell in love with Sanibel and hope to return to Blind Pass. Sylvia, you were a delight to deal with! Thank you again for the use of your condo.Response from Sylvia Guarino - 04/28/2011

I spent a week in Syl and Joes Blind Pass E201 Condo with my sister and two young sons, and we had an amazing time! The condo felt like home with comfortable living and sleeping arrangements. It was set in a complex that was surrounded by nature, beautiful landscaping, easy access to the beach and a nice swimming pool and tennis courts. The boys loved searching for the lizzards and watching the birds and other insects when we would make the walk to the beach each day. We wanted a relaxing and quiet vacation without the hustle of everyday life, and we found this at Syl and Joes condo!
I was extremely impressed with Syl's support and attention and exceptional customer service. She was always quick to respond, thorough in her feedback and a pleasure to work with through the rental process. I had never been to Sanibel and appreciated her insight and support in the defining the location and facility. The condo was nicely decorated, had a close proximity to the beach and really comfortable beds!
If you are looking for a relaxing and tranquil location, I encourage you to stay at Syl and Joes place. You will have a great time! -

We had a great time in condo E201, the weather was nice and warm. We did spend a lot of time in and around the swimming pool and on the beach. E201 was very satisfactory, really luxurous for a family with 4 kids in all ages. Each morning we had breakfast and went out to the swimming pool right away :-) Our youngest kids of 5 and 9 swimming and playing around, our teenagers of 15 and 17 swimming and sunbathing. After lunch we went to the beach and the short walk over the bridge was always a success, we stopped there for 10 - 15 minutes to have a look at the fishes and birds. We went to Tarpon Bay, the birdlife and the alligators, the kids loved it and so did their parents. We did the cooking most of the time ourselves and the condo is very well equiped. Our 9 year old son discovered he is really into tennis on the tenniscourts of Blindpass Condominium! It was our first time in the us and the americans are grown in our eyes, everybody was so nice and pleasant. Asking how we did and making small talk. Meeting people from Kentucky and Michigan and Tennessee... That was one of the outstanding things of our vacation! Blind Pass Condominium is really a very nice place to meet people, make contacts, share good times.
The beach was nice and quiet, very good to have a private beach. An older man asked why we didn't stay at Fort Myers, in the busle of city live, but we really liked the quiet surroundings og Blind Pass and Sanibel Island, we would love to come back some time.
We'll keep E201 in mind whenever we start planning florida again!!!Response from Sylvia Guarino - 02/16/2011

We recently just returned from our trip to Sanibel. We had a wonderful family vacation. Our kids' ages are 18, 15, 6 and 2 so it's getting more and more difficult to find a vacation spot with something for everyone. The condo was perfect for us since we need as much space as possible. It was clean and up to date. When we were looking for a condo, space was a major concern. Syl and Joes condo was unique because of the 2 full size beds in the 2nd bedroom plus their own bath. This kept everyone happy. As for Sanibel itself, we found it to be a very unique, family oriented island. Everyone enjoyed the beach. It was private and relaxing. In the evenings, the kids loved the fun restaurants, beautiful sunsets, bike rides and of course after dinner ice cream stops. Sanibel is definitely a place we will visit again. Thanks Syl and Joe for making it such a special trip. We know our family trips may be limited due to the kids getting older so we were so pleased with how great this trip was.

I found Joe and Syl's E201 condo to be almost like home. I thought the decor and the ambiance was a definite plus. I was very comfortable in the master king bed and slept like a baby. I made use of the DVD player in the living room and bedroom. The kitchen was bright and cheerful with everything I could possibly need. Everything seemed like new. My favorite thing was the gorgeous bathtub in the master bath. I certainly took advantage of that as often as I could. I found the beach to be very accessible to the condo especially in where it is located on the grounds. I did not have a large group or family with me but I could see how it would accomodate a family very well. There are many ammenities in the complex to take advantage of. The pool was beautiful and there were two tennis courts. There was also available kayaks and canoes to explore the wildlife reserve on the bayou. I spent my time on the beach and took in its beauty. There are enormous amounts of shells to pick up along the shoreline and in the water's edge. Overall, the vacation was very relaxing and I would go there again anytime. I would highly recommend this condo and the Blind Pass Complex.

Our first visit to Sanibel Island and after some research we came across Syl and Joes webpage for their condo at Blindpass. I read the reviews and emailed Sylvia. She answered my questions the next day and I decided to book the condo. We certainly made the right decision. We loved the location, not right in the hub of the island traffic but a little out of the way on the way to Captiva. Just perfect! Also, the beach is just a short walk away and it is beautiful. We spent so much time on the beach, early morning, mid afternoon and evening. We had so much fun searching for shells and came home with some real treasures. And the best part, when we were ready to have a quiet dinner or take a nap or watch a movie, we had a beautiful condo that we called home for the week. The furnishings are beautiful and the place is nicely decorated and supplied with everything a couple or family needs for their stay. This was by far our most relaxing vacation and we had such a wonderful time. We still have a smile on our faces 4 weeks later. The beach, pool, grounds, location, condo and Sanibel Island are simply perfect. We can not wait to go back and we will most likely stay in E201 as it has everything we need and more. Thank you Syl and Joe for creating the perfect vacation get away.

We absolutely loved the condo. It is tastefully decorated in an island theme; had plenty of good books to read. Very well equipped kitchen. The bath towels are softer than what we have at our own home. Great care was taken on behalf of the Guarino's to ensure that renters are comfortable and content! The walk to the beach is wonderful and the beach is beautiful. The grounds of Blind Pass are immaculate and well-organized. The pool is very clean and inviting. We did not want to leave because the condo felt like a real home for us. The location is excellent and we found what we were looking for, which was peace and quiet. Highly recommend this unit; wish we were still there!

Everything went smoothly, from our original queries regarding the unit, to booking, arriving at night and finding the info and keys where we were told they would be,and finally the week we stayed in the unit.
The unit was everything we hoped it would be and more, including a lovely extra touch by the owners, which was an anniversary basket waiting on the counter for us.
The rooms were spacious and clean, with all the appliances, entertainment equipment (3 TV's)one could ask for. There was nothing the unit was lacking. The grounds at Blind Pass are kept in immaculate condition, and the pool was a lovely escape from the heat each day. Although Blind Pass condos are not right on the beach, a pleasant 5 minutes (or less) walk gets you across a lagoon like waterway, where you can observe the herons and egrets fishing. We were fortunate enough to see a 6 foot gator sunning himself also!
For those into shelling, get out early in the morning! Also, don't miss the sunsets from the beach. They were spectacular.
You can't visit Sanibel without talking about the food. Every dining place we visited was a treat, and I believe there are too many choice places to single out any particular one. One more thing...take your tennis rackets...the courts are great...and some bug spray...the "no-see-ums" can get to you if you don't watch it!
We definitely will be back, -

Blind Pass is a great location for families. It's far enough away from the hustle and bustle but still close to Doc Ford's (restaurant) and grocery shopping. E201 is an awesome unit. We felt like we were home each night after being on the beach and in the pool all day.

We really enjoyed unit E201 at Blind Pass. The unit was decorated nicely and had everything in the kitchen we would ever need.
While there are no other properties in between Blind Pass and the Gulf, it does take a 5-8 minute walk to get to the beach (to walk through the Blind Pass property, then over the canal and natural area).
We enjoyed playing tennis on the courts situated on the premises. The pool was nice and had plenty of chairs and tables/umbrellas.
Blind Pass is secluded from other hotels & homes and is next to Blind Pass Public Beach, a highly regarded shelling beach.
I ranked this as "recommend" versus "highly recommend" just because we personally prefer our unit to be a little closer to the beach. But the unit and the entire Blind Pass complex is great and a wonderful way to get away. -

Left on 12/08/2009 for a stay in December 2009
We just returned from one week in Syl and Joes sanibel Blind Pass Condo E201. It was the BEST!
My husband, 2 children and I all agree that this is the cleanest, most tastefully decorated condo we've stayed in. The layout with 2 bedroom suites is perfect (and the fact that there were 3 tvs in the condo helped keep the kids from fighting over screen time). We enjoyed the easy access to the pool and simple stroll to the beach. The condo was completely equipped for my cooking pleasure and the local grocery met all the need of our family (including a child who has to eat gluten free). This was the best experience traveling as a family we've ever had. Easy access to the beach, perfect accomodations and sunshine...who could ask for more?? -

Other than providing food, which you surely don't expect, this condo has
everything you could possibly need for staying on Sanibel. Just stop by
Bailey's General Store on your way there to pick up some food and you will
be all set. Or, if you prefer to visit any of the many fine restaurants on
Sanibel or Captiva for dining then there are plenty to choose from.
For those unfamiliar with Sanibel, it is a very laid-back place which is why I
go there because I just want to relax and do nothing other than sleep in, go
to the beach, and take a few photos. The location of E201 near Bowman's
Beach was great because I could take photos of herons, egrets, and osprey
while crossing the bayou on the way to the beach then just relax once I got
to the beach which was very quiet. If you're into photography or nature then
Ding Darling NWR is just a short distance away where you will see many of
Florida's beautiful birds (the species vary depending on the time of year
though some are constant).
Everything you might need was provided at the condo--towels (including
beach towels), dishes and utensils, coffee maker, movies on both DVD and
VCR, books, games, beach chairs, a beach umbrella (which I really
appreciated), etc. There are also tennis courts and a pool. The walk to the
beach takes about 5 minutes but is very pleasant. I don't know what else
you could possibly want!

Chicago, ILVACATION OF OUR LIVES
Left on 09/23/2009 for a stay in August 2006
This was the most enjoyable vacation we've ever had. The setting was tremendous and the accomodation were out of this world because it had everything one could ask for: plenty of room, very comfortable, spotlessly clean, convenient, plenty of light and with great amenities. Staying in the suite was as enjoyable as being at the beach and exploring the other great places to visit on the island itself. I HIGHLY recommend Syl and Joe's place to anyone and everyone.

This vacation home is a home from home. The owners have thought about just everything you could possibly need while you are there. It is decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The facilities around are very well kept. The location is fantastic - just a short walk to probably one of the best beaches in Florida.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone and will hopefully be back there soon myself. -

We stayed at Blind Pass unit E201 from 7/18/09 to 7/25/09. The pictures of this unit do not do it justice. It is absolutely lovely with quality furnishings and tasteful tropical decor throughout. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, utensils, and cookware for our family. The kitchen has newer, well-maintained appliances along with a washer and dryer. The beds were the most comfortable that we have ever encountered during a vacation. This unit is well stocked with extra bed linens and plenty of towels, including beach/pool towels. The landscaping at the Blind Pass complex is lovely. Our family really enjoyed the large pool at Blind Pass. The beach is a short distance away (about a 2 minute walk) and was decorated with thousands of shells. We loved the off-the-beaten-path location of the Blind Pass units. It felt like we had our own private, tropical escape. We very much enjoyed our stay at Blind Pass E201 and would definitely recommend it to others. We can't wait to return!

Our family of four had a great time staying at Blind Pass E201. The owners have impeccable taste -- the condo is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable vacation. With two small children we spent quite a bit of time at the lovely beach that was only a short stroll away. And of course we made frequent trips to the pool. The Blind Pass Condo is tucked away and very private. However, within minutes you can be at any number of wonderful restaurants. I would definitely recommend this lovely condo. You won't be disappointed!

Sanibel and Captiva are magnificent vacation destinations. It's difficult, if
not impossible, to find another place in the continental US that offers the
same natural beauty, peace, and tranquility in a tropical setting. Of the
many condominium-type lodging options available on the two islands, Blind
Pass represents a perfect blend between comfort and cost. It's conveniently
located on the southern edge of Sanibel within a 5 minute drive from
Captiva allowing for easy exploration of both islands. Our unit was only a 5-
7-minute walk from the beach, over a wooden bridge across a scenic
lagoon - all of it completely closed to any sort of traffic. We had initially
searched for a beach-front property and thought the walk would be a
hassle, but we ended up enjoying it. Our 5-year old son would be looking
forward to an opportunity to sport birds or even gators. We all loved the
scenery that opened up on the way to the beach and back. The unit itself
was newly renovated, basically spotless clean, with a very pleasant island-
themed decor. All appliances and electronics were in topnotch shape. The
condo had all the necessities as far as silverware, dishes, utensils, some
basic kitchen supplies, board games, beach toys, etc. The building and
premises were all very clean. The pool was awesome although we spent
most of the time on the beach. Even though we did not take advantage of it,
the property had tennis courts. We had an easy time dealing with the
owners of the condo who accommodated our request for a slightly longer
stay. Overall, the stay at Blind Pass was very enjoyable and I would
recommend it without hesitation.Response from Sylvia Guarino - 07/21/2009

Actually, Sanibel runs east to west. The complex is at the furthest western tip of the Island. This unique geographical position is one of the reasons the shelling is so outstanding. The shells get swept up on the beach and stay there for your pickings. Beautiful!

We arrived at the condo and the check in was effortless. The condo was ready, cleaned, and well stocked. The location could not have been better. It was a quick 2-3 minute walk to the beach and the kids loved looking for the alligator in the lagoon on the way to the beach. The entire facility was clean and the other tenants were quiet and respectful. It was a great family location and didn't have lots of noise and drunks like some of the larger properties on the island. We rent condos, and houses, all over the world and can say, without reservation, that this is one of the best and the ONLY place will will stay on Sanibel!

Hunterdon County NJFamily Time!
Left on 07/20/2009 for a stay in November 2007
My husband, sons (10&14)and I stayed in this condo Nov.2007 during a teacher's convention. We were very happy with the space inside the unit, clean, fresh, and very pretty. After dinner out on the Island (so many choices!), we would return at night to gather in the living room to watch tv or view a DVD...or alternately retire to our own rooms where we had tvs and dvd players as well. We could have cooked and eaten in as the kitchen is very well supplied, but after an active day, who had energy left for cooking? Syl&Joe, the owners, have really gone way beyond most expectations to make sure that the condo meets everyones needs for comfort and convenience. E201 is a really peaceful place and we had no disturbances to mar a great night's sleep.
The complex where the condo is located has a unique position on the island. It is on the furthest western point of Sanibel, just a few minutes bike ride from Captiva. There are no other complexes near Blind Pass Condominiums and the secluded location is a strong point for the complex. Unlike the clumped together gulf front complexes where we have stayed in the past, the Blind Pass location looks and feels more tropical and "islandy". The short walk to reach the beach was no inconvenience for us and we did it several times a day.
As far as Sanibel as a vacation destination, there is no other island, in the USA or internationally, that offers such a great value. We did something different every day of our stay. There's bike riding, nature viewing, parasailing, swimming, shell collecting, fishing and golfing to name just a few of the activities that an active family can enjoy. And though most known for the wildlife on the Island, Sanibel offers dozens of restaurants and shops to choose from. It's not a cheap destination, but as they say, in life you get what you pay for!
We would not hesitate to return to E201 in Sanibel Island, and enjoy the large and inviting pool and other amenities at Blind Pass. -

this is THE apartment to rent for a visit to sanibel island, the un-palm

room, and wonderfully equipped kitchen. everything is new and kept
up-to-date by owners who truly care that your stay is even more than you
expect. we rented this apartment for four years in a row and loved
sanibel so much that when the adjacent apartment went on the market, we
bought. dear friends are now in their fourth year of renting this
unit--they love it as much as we did--so i see it every year and can
absolutely guarantee that it is maintained to the max. tip-top shape.
tennis courts, pool, kayaking, five-minute walk directly to the beach
(no crossing highways or passing high rises) across a short bridge
spanning the bayou. sanibel island is largely preserved land and there
is a three-story height restriction on buildings. if what you want is
relaxed grace, sanibel and this apartment are just what you're looking

The walk from the complex to the beach is about the length of a city block with no streets to cross, just lots of nature viewing. Gulf front condos providing this spaciousness and comfort of layout are in a different price point, so there is a trade off made to have that proximity.

We first stayed at Blind Pass Condos in 2004 - since then I?ve been back at least 10 times!! That says it all, it's like a home from home for us. We always stay in unit E201. It is a 2 bedrooom, 2 bathroom unit very nicely decorated in a tropical theme. Over the last few years the furniture has been updated regularly, keeping it fresh and new and very comfortable. Everything you could need is in the condo, including beach chairs, a cool box, and some beach toys. The kitchen is equipped with everything you can think of so we eat at least half our meals in despite the number of excellent restaurants on the island.
These condos are furthest west on the island and as such are quiet and peaceful. It is a short walk (less than 5 mins) from the best beach on Sanibel, Bowman?s beach, where there are loads of shells to collect, birds and often dolphins to watch. The path to the beach takes you across a bayou where you can usually see herons and egrets. I once saw a baby alligator in there as well! The gardens are well maintained and the pool is apparently one of the largest on the island. There are also bbq?s, tennis courts and canoes you can use. The condos situated mid-way between the main shopping and restaurant area on Sanibel and Captiva Island (about a 10 minute drive in opposite directions). A car is definitely required to get around, but there are plently of bicycle paths if you are feeling fit! If you arrive after the office is closed you can pick up your key from a lock box. I have done this every time as I come from the UK, and I?ve never had any problems.
I highly recommend the Blind Pass condos and E201, especially to anybody who is looking for a vacation to unwind and get away from it all.

A beautiful home that brings the magic of Sanibel almost to your front door! The home is comfortable, clean, and far from your usual beach rental. A delightful stroll to one of the loveliest beaches on Sanibel - very private and uncrowded. The grounds around the condo units are well kept and the pool area relaxing. Our only complaint is that we do not get down there more often. When we do get to go, we contact the Guarino's to see when we can get their unit and work from there!

My husband and I stayed at E201 last June. We had travelled down from Orlando after spending a week doing the orlando 'thing'. We were really looking forward to a relaxing week.
We are fairly well travelled and enjoy real quality accomodations when we travel across the Atlantic. We figure that if we are going that far, we would hate to be disappointed with a bad room or condo. So that pretty much sets our standards when we travel and we aren't that easy to please!!
Certainly nothing to worry about with Blind Pass. We had seen some photos of the condo online but they don't really do it justice. When we walked in for the first time we were absolutely delighted. Every possible amenity and more is at your disposal and the unit is so pretty and comfortable. There is a full entertainment system in the living room and the couches and beds are very comforatble.
My husband is a mad keen fisherman and he was delighted with all the nets and buckets that Sylvia and Joe provide for their guests to use.
We pretty much lived on the beautiful beach for a full week and left Sanibel with our souls restored.

The condo was beautifully equipped and very comfortable. We also greatly appreciated the spaciousness.

Both bedrooms have own bathroom; a very nice convenience. Kitchen is well equiped for the cook or you can get a take-out or eat at the many nearby restaurants. Walk to beach via a bridge over water with lots of interesting birds and fish to watch. Swimming pool at complex is great for safe swimming for children. Beach is wonderful, clean and pretty empty most of the time, the sunshine will have your eyes zinging. Sanibel is a wonderful place to visit if you like it quiet, which we do!

Sanibel is a great nature destination though a little slow on night life off season. During season there are lots of cultural activities at night. Off season, other than the restaurants, a sports bar, a jazz club and a movie theatre, night time is quiet time on the Island.
There are many activities (boating, fishing, golfing, parasailing, biking, kayaking, etc.)all year round. Intergenerational families seeking daytime activities that may not be so adventurous might be happier with cruising to other islands. -

Our family, including three young adult children, 19 to 23, stayed here for a week in December. The condo was great, well-kept, and had all the amenities we needed for cooking and feeling at home. The property is very tranquil and has a nice pool and tennis court and the beach, perfect for shelling, is a short walk away. We rented bikes to go into town which everyone enjoyed. It wss very relaxing.
Only negative would be that we arrived late at night and didn't have good directions so drove around for a while looking for the street. Could use better signage by the main road. Also, though perfect for a couple or young family, our 21-year-old son felt bored and isolated. Can't win 'em all!
