What's Nearby:
Additional Location Information
Sanibel Island is a barrier island just off the southwest coast of Florida near Fort Myers. Sanibel Island is about 12 miles long and 4 miles wide, and is known around the world for it's fabulous shelling beaches. Due to Sanibel Island's unique geographical orientation, lying East to West instead of North to South, it acts as a scoop and gathers seashells along it's beaches. The average temperature in Sanibel is about 75 degrees. There are over 26 miles of bike trails and over 15 miles of beautiful, soft, sandy beaches.
Quite possibly the first image one has of Southern Florida's Sanibel Island is the striking sunsets, spectacular shelling and looming lighthouses. Yet there are so many unexpected pleasures to find here. Sanibel Island has an ambiance that you will find nowhere else. 60% of the island is perpetually dedicated as a nature and wildlife preserve and development is strictly controlled. There are no traffic lights, night time lighting is kept to a bare minimum and the twenty miles of pristine, white, sandy beaches are kept in their natural condition. Everything from nature hiking to shopping to just plain relaxing can be found on Sanibel.
Located just off the coast of Fort Myers, North West of Fort Myers Beach and Estero Island, West of Cape Coral and Pine Island, and North of Bonita Springs and Naples, our islands function as the Southwest Florida crown jewels attracting visitors to the area just to visit our pristine beaches found nowhere else on earth.
Pastel colored seashells and soft white sand adorn the beaches on Sanibel Island. Lay back on the beach and watch the pelicans and herons fish for their dinner, read a forgotten book or just do nothing. On Sanibel Island you'll find excellent restaurants, shopping, accommodations and children's activities. If you want a truly unforgettable family vacation, Sanibel Island is the place to be.
Sanibel offers dozens of outdoor activities--such as swimming, boating, biking, fishing, hiking, shelling, windsurfing, and kayaking--available all year round. In addition there is a lively arts scene, featuring professional theatrical productions and a wide range of art galleries. Visit the famous wildlife sanctuaries and nature preserves that provide glimpses of rare migratory birds and the many types of fauna that call Sanibel home.
Some call it a magical tropical retreat. Others call it an environment like none other. But whatever you wish to call Sanibel, one thing is clear: this island is truly unique. It is Florida at its absolute best. Like no other place.
There is always a quiet tranquility that is the essence of Sanibel and always only footsteps away at Sandalfoot!
Surrounding Area:
While staying at Sandalfoot Condominium, you will never be far from the mainland, as the city of Fort Myers is only minutes away by way of the Sanibel Causeway Bridge.
The Edison-Ford Winter Estates are a “must see” while visiting the Fort Myers area. Located at 2350 McGregor Boulevard, you will get a chance to see how the famed inventor Thomas Edison and the automobile mogul Henry Ford spent the cold season in their majestic winter homes. Thomas Edison built his beloved “Seminole Lodge”, as it affectionately came to be called, in 1886 and his good friend Henry Ford moved in next door to “The Mangoes” estate in 1915. The estates are wonderfully maintained in an effort to capture the exact manner in which the legendary men lived. On the tour, you will get a chance to see Edison’s chemical lab, maintained exactly the way in which he left it, an original Model T Ford, a gift from Ford to Edison, and one of the most celebrated of all of Edison’s inventions, the phonograph. Sail down the bordering Caloosahatchee River on a replica of one of Edison’s boats for a superb view of the estates from the water’s edge. Or stroll through Edison’s famous botanical gardens, with over 1,000 types of plants from all over the world! During your visit, you might even run into Edison or Ford himself! The estate has “living history characters”, or actors on staff that portray the historic men while greeting and answering visitors’ questions. The Henry Ford estate also offers a very unique and picturesque setting for weddings and is available for rent
Check out the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. A truly one-of-kind zoo, the Caribbean Gardens offers its visitors a unique experience. The 52-acre zoo is home to panthers, leopards, tigers, lions, monkeys, and even rare African wild dogs. What makes this zoo truly different is the lush tropical garden setting that surrounds the beastly inhabitants! The beautiful and serene Lake Victoria, adding to the charm of the zoo, gives visitors the opportunity to take a catamaran cruise past mini tropical islands. These are not your typical islands, however. Different types of monkeys inhabit each island! Wildlife presentations conducted by the zookeepers, are presented throughout the day in an effort to educate further and add to the enjoyment of the experience. The zoo is located just a short drive from Fort Myers at 1590 Goodlette-Frank Road in Naples.
An evening of entertainment awaits you at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater. Offering Broadway-style shows, complete with either a lunch or dinner buffet. Stillwater, MNBeautiful location and a memorable getaway!
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This was my first time staying at Sandalfoot Condominium on Sanibel Island and I absolutely loved it! Sanibel Island is a beautiful getaway and the Sandalfoot condo was a perfect place to stay at. The unit 3D1 was nicely furnished and decorated and provided a great layout with comfortable seating and beds. The unit has a very open kitchen and dining area which made it ideal for cooking meals each day.
The location of 3D1 is extremely convenient and offered many benefits during my stay. Not only is it located on the ground floor, meaning no stairs to walk up and down, but it is also an end unit on the quiet end of the property which made my stay even more peaceful and relaxing. Additionally, the unit location offers quick and easy access to the shuffleboard court, tennis court, grills for grilling out, and the condo's heated pool.
The beach is a short scenic walk from 3D1 and is an extremely serene and calming environment. I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the sun and spending time on the beach each day during my stay. The ocean is refreshing and the many fascinating shells that you can find on the beach are great for collecting and bringing home with you as a souvenir.
During my stay I was able to explore the various nearby shops and excellent restaurants to dine at on the Island. In addition, the Sanibel community is incredibly welcoming and positively contributed to my overall stay.
I had such an incredible experience vacationing in Sanibel Island and this condo was the perfect place to stay at to enjoy all that the Island has to offer!

Burlington, WIPerfect Condo on a Beauiful Island!
Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in January 2013
I absolutely loved my stay in this condo (Unit3D1) and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to have their perfect beach vacation. It truly made my stay on Sanibel Island a trip I will never forget!
The condo was immaculate when we arrived and is beautifully decorated. It is just the right size and has a really open layout with a big, well-equipped kitchen and nice dining area and living room. The screened-in lanai right off the living room was a great place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee or a quiet evening. We were able to live comfortably with a group of six very easily. All of the beds, including the pull out couches, had nice mattresses that provided all of us with a great night sleep every night. The windows let in a lot of sunlight so the whole condo was naturally lit during the day and we could enjoy the island view from inside. We could even watch an osprey nest from the kitchen window!
The condominium as a whole is an amazing place, and I believe this unit has one of the best locations in Sandalfoot. It is an end unit on the quiet side of the condominium and located on the first level, so the courtyard was only a step away. Right outside we had immediate access to the shuffleboard court, tennis court, grill and the heated pool. We found some of the most beautiful shells I have ever seen right on the beach outside of the courtyard!
I had such an amazing time exploring this beautiful place. Sanibel Island is a perfect tropical paradise and this condo really did add so much to my memorable experience!

NYCIdeal for all ages

We discovered Sandalfoot four years ago after having stayed at another (larger, very upscale) resort closeby. We loved the other place, but once we found Sandalfoot, we never looked back. The scale, layout, and ambience are perfect, especially for families with young children or older parents who prefer a shorter walk to the pool or beach. We have gone every year with three generations(ages 1-75), and Sandalfoot meets everyone's needs.
The property is immaculate and well kept, and the staff are always helpful and responsive(four years later, it's like a family reunion when we arrive at the front office -- the candy dish is filled and waiting for our youngest child!)There is very much a family feel, partly because there are so many returning families(we have friends from repeat visits), and also because of the little extras, like the weekly breakfast buffet by the pool, April Fools Day bbq, Easter celebration, etc.The place is just the right size, not so small as to feel dinky, and not so large as to feel overwhelming or anonymous.
The access to the pool and beach is one of the best aspects of Sandalfoot. It is contained and safe enough even for young children to walk to and from by themselves, which makes for a more relaxing vacation. This is also an advantage of a ground floor unit -- children can go right out to play. And it makes grilling, which we did nightly for dinner, especially easy.
We have stayed in Unit 3D1 multiple times and always found it perfect. The open layout makes it feel breezy and spacious. It is nicely decorated, and recently updated with new living and dining furniture. The modern, well-equipped kitchen had everything we needed to cook nightly for our family of 5, plus grandparents and an aunt staying in a different unit. There are beach chairs and an umbrella, and a newly purchased beach cart.
We have never been disappointed or unpleasantly surprised by anything at Sandalfoot. It is consistently well managed and maintained.Response from Paul & Renee - 08/26/2012

Madison, WIParadise!
Left on 08/07/2012 for a stay in June 2012
I loved my week at Sandalfoot! This first-floor unit made it easy to walk out to the beach or pool. The condo is clean and comfortable. The updated kitchen is nice for cooking and eating in. The grounds are well-maintained with many flowering plants. The complex is just the right size; it never felt crowded in the common areas. Being on the eastern side of the island made it a convenient drive to the mainland and close to many island attractions.

Inman, SCPerfect Location and Condo!
Left on 07/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012
This is our first stay on Sanibel itself, although we have visited the island a number of times in the past and enjoyed its tranquility, long expanses of uncrowded beach and warm gulf water, not to mention the world's best shell hunting! This Sandalfoot condo is situated on the gulf side of the island with the best views and best beaches in our opinion. We were overjoyed to find this place.
The condo itself is on the ground floor. We parked the car 10 feet from the front door which made loading and unloading a snap. The master bedroom has a king bed, which not very common, and its own private, full bath with upscale tile and fixtures. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds and its own full bath. There were 5 in our group and we used the full size sleeper sofa which was also surprisingly comfortable. The condo was exceptionally clean and well-maintained. Walking out the screened Lanai, it is 20 feet to the large clean pool, then another 100 feet on a private walk to the ocean.
The condo was fully equipped with flat screen TVs in the bedrooms and living room, DVD and VCR players, full kitchen nicely stocked with all cooking and dining utensils and appliances. There is even a nice selection of Dvds, board games and books (although we spent most of our time in the pool or at the beach). Beach chairs, umbrella, shelling supplies, beach towels, etc. are all supplied. The condo office was very friendly and had a nice supply of bicycles for rent ($15/day) for use on the miles of secluded, paved bike trails on the island.
All in all, we had a perfect time and will definitely rent this condo again.

Florence, SCParadise awaits!
Left on 06/08/2012 for a stay in May 2012
A perfect paradise awaits our family each and every time we stay at Sandalfoot Condominiums, and this time was no exception. However, we truly found our perfect piece of paradise during our stay this year (May 2012) in Sandalfoot Condo (3D1)! This two bedroom unit was very spacious for our family of four, and sparkling clean! Furthermore, we loved having the pool, shuffleboards, tennis courts, beautiful flowers and landscaping and bike racks right out the door of the lanai. And, being on the 1st floor is always a plus for a family with children. I have vacationed at Sandalfoot since I was a child, and stayed in many units growing up with my parents and now with my own family. But truly, 3D1 is a unit that I will always ask for each year from now on. Sanibel is Heaven on Earth in every since of the word, and perfect accomodations found at Sandalfoot (particularly this unit) is reason #1!!
